The controls (buttons) on the right side of my steering wheel progressed from slow to respond to completely unresponsive, and then the driver airbag light started coming on. At first it was intermittent, then constant. I didn't expect those two issues to be related but did come to learn it was the clock switch. According to my Hyundai dealer, this is a known issue in several other years/models of Hyundais and they have extended those warranties, "but it hasn't reached the Tucson yet". I was told that either 1 - my airbag wouldn't deploy or 2 - it would deploy randomly when I was driving the vehicle. I spent nearly $1000 in diagnostics and repairs.
Limp mode check engine light code p1326.
Car cuts off when driving the speed drops down automatically stops the dash lights go out and can’t start it right away.
Power windows will go down by driver buttons but driver buttons will not work to make windows go back up. Engine is stalling, can smell exhaust, manifold is said to be needed to be replaced. Burns oil badly.
1. After driving the car and turning it off, I get a loud bang coming from a gas tank. 2. Sometimes when making a hard right or left turn steering wheel vibrates, and the warning light for all wheel drive system comes on. When I turn the car off and restart it, it goes away. 3. After software installs due to recalls, when I accelerate my radio occasionally shuts off on its own, and then we’ll come back on on its own. 4. After turning the car off when I restart it occasionally the clock in calendar revert to 00:00 for the time and the date resets to 1/1/20.
Rear driver side door suddenly will not open from outside or inside. A rear passenger would be essentially trapped in the car should an incident/accident happen. I googled and it seems this is a well known issue affecting several model years of Hyundai, including my 2017 model. I do not see a recall for this extremely dangerous issue.
All of the lights on the dashboard and check engines light were illuminated. The speedometer would not work and the stick shift would stick in park causing me to have to release the shift lock manually to drive. The failure mileage was 59,450.
Unable to open passenger door on driver side. Unable to open from the outside or the inside.
Unknown the car just start malfunctioning.
Car had smoke engine overheating this is the 3rd engine I got sick from the smoke I don’t feel safe in that car.
The vacuum pump on my 2017 Hyundai has a faulty cap resulting in an electrical error to the can system. This causes dash lights abs 4wd parking break stability control tpms sensor check engine light to eliminate and the speedometer to not work. All of the systems are not opperating due to the system not being able to communicate. It is illegal and a safety issue to not be able to use the speedometer.
I was driving the cars lights went off it started knocking then a scraping noise I looked under car the plastic cover was half off so I took off to see what the problem was 2 pieces of broken metal were on plastic cover and oil was coming out had to tow it took to dealership in odessa where I bought to car still had packaging in it … dealership says my car is not one of the Tucson that has a recall on it…why?.
On July 22nd, the duel clutch malfunctioned & caused the vehicle gear shift to no longer engage. The car does not move in drive or reverse. It can only be pushed in neutral or towed. This occurred while I was driving home on the highway with no warning lights or prior symptoms indicating a potential issue. The vehicle has not yet been seen by Hyundai but they did say that since my VIN was not registered to the existing recall, there is not much they can do & any repairs would be out of pocket. It has been seen by our family mechanic, pepboys & has currently been sitting at aamco with no solution as of today since August 2nd. Geico said since this is a mechanical issue & not an accident, they cannot assist. Carmax customer relations (where I purchased the vehicle on March 12th, 2023) has been informed but so far offered no solutions. I am told they cannot offer much assistance due to the 90-day warranty being surpassed, extended warranty not being purchased & the current milage on the car. A case with Hyundai customer relations has also been opened as of today, August 15th & they are escalating the issue to their legal department as we are considering taking legal action at this point.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal clacking sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent certified mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic, where the catalytic converter repair was performed. The contact stated that after the repair, the contact noticed that the instrument panel would turn black and the infotainment system would become inoperable intermittently; however, both systems would reboot independently. Additionally, the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the air compressor was replaced due to heating system failure. The contact stated that the instrument panel failure recurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was overheating. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the message "engine overheating" was displayed. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with engine misfire. The mechanic determined that the head gasket failure had caused oil to contaminate the coolant reservoir. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
My truck was stolen so most likely they messed up my ignition. Before this my lights keep going out every time I replace one a different one goes out. Wheel always going out of air and my truck always jerking when driving or breaking. I am a victim of the “kia and Hyundai” boys in baltimore city that’s going around stealing people cars.
Faulty wiring on wiring from alternator led to electrical fire.
The 2017 Hyundai Tucson will trap you inside the car. The doors will work intermittently and other times they simply will not open. Even when the car is unlocked. This was recalled on certain models and years but not this one. Huge safety concern being trapped inside the car or stuck outside car.
Problem with the engine.
Car has been hesitating to start this last week, Friday 6/2/23 warning lights came on & air conditioning stopped working. My local Hyundai shop is booked 2 weeks out so I already have an appt for 6/13/23. But on 6/2 I barely made it to a shop close to my home for a diagnostic check. Code p1111 was stored, cleared & retested. It's for fuel pump, circuit was tested & no faults were found & test driven with no return of code. Picked up car on Monday 6/5 with no issues. Tuesday car hesitated to start, 3rd time it started with no issue & no warning light/s. Today 6/7 around noon while I was making a turn the car completely shut off without warning. I've also noted that the oil level is always low, I have to check & put in oil at least every 2 weeks but there doesn't seem to be an oil leak. Also from stop to go at a light for example the car hesitates and then jerks forward. In the past I was told at a Hyundai facility that this is normal because of the dual clutch or something to that fact. The incident today was scary as there were a lot of cars behind me and cars coming towards me. The attached pic of warning lights was from Friday, 6/2/23.
I am writing to report a serious issue with our 2017 Hyundai Tucson. As the first and only owners of this vehicle, we have diligently maintained it through authorized dealerships. However, in may 2023, while driving on the highway, the car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate beyond 30 mph. There were no warning lights or indications prior to this incident. My wife managed to pull the car to the side of the road and slowly drove it to the dealership. Despite having only 30,000 miles on the odometer from personal use, we were shocked to learn that the engine had suffered significant damage due to low engine oil. Notably, we had recently serviced the vehicle at the same dealership just a few months earlier. The dealership informed us that the engine needed replacement, but the process took nearly a year. During this time, we were left without our vehicle, causing considerable inconvenience and financial hardship due to renting replacement vechile . We find it concerning that an engine failure occurred despite our regular maintenance and adherence to authorized service centers. We kindly request an investigation into this matter and hope that steps can be taken to prevent similar incidents for other Hyundai Tucson owners. Additionally, we urge Hyundai to address this issue promptly and transparently.
Vehicle caught fire damaging wiring harness. Engine has hesitation, ac system was damaged by fire. Recall shows electrical system/engine and brakes in recall. Hyandai refused to replace citing missed oil changes. Oil was changed regularly but not always at the dealer. These particular problems are exactly what the recall was for, problem is design and manufacturing the oil change issue has no effect. I want these fixed as soon as soon as possible.
All the lights in the dashboard are on always, also the check engine light as well, and we found a recall issued for these cars campaign 18-01-026, Tucson vacuum pump sealant application/ cap replacement (service campaign t3c) date September 2018.
I have had my 2017 1. 8l eco Hyundai tucscon for 3 years now and recently it's been giving me signs of problems that are great concerns for safety, as well-known for this models; it only 62091 miles as of the day of this complaint. On Jan 15. 2023, I noticed that each time I start the car, it takes a little bit longer, then you hear a rattle sound and shaking of the engine block, then it start. Or the engine would suddenly slip, followed by a brief rattle sound while driving. I took it in for service to manly Hyundai in santa rosa on Jan 27, 2023, but the mechanics there told me that they could not find where the problems are coming from, and that I would need to wait for an engine light to come on, as any diagnostic at this point maybe unnecessary and costly. Had I known that the 2017 Tucson had so many issues and recalls, or engine defects, specially the slipping or shaking on acceleration from idle, I would never put my money on a commuter like that. I am still worried for the eugine not to blow up as per previous incidents with this model. Common issues: the18. 0-liter eco 4-cylinder engines, which may have defective rod bearings. The bearings may wear prematurely. This can cause the engine to stall during operation. In extreme cases, a damaged connecting rod can puncture the engine block and cause the engine to leak oil onto hot components, leading to a fire. Please do something.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that on multiple occasions, upon acceleration from a stop, there was a 3-second delayed before the vehicle responded and sputtered and lunged forward. The contact stated that on several occasions while idling or coming to a stop, the vehicle hesitated. Additionally, the contact stated while in reverse, the audible alert system failed to operate. As a result of the failure, the vehicle almost struck a pedestrian. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
While driving, all of the warning lights on the dash came on and the car shut off. After pulling over, the car started again. The car was bought on 10/18/22 and the first incident was 11/7/22. It was taken back to the dealership, the lights were turned off and a few days later it happened again. This happened a total of 4 times. The last time only 3 lights came on. As of this complaint, the car has been in the shop since 12/22/22. There were no warnings before the lights came on. The Hyundai mechanic said that those lights mean there are major issues and it could be a safety hazard. The car was not bought at a huyndai dealership.
Engine light and oil light stays on in the car. Car shaking really bad. Oil is evaporating in less than a thousand miles. 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Engine ticking noise and smells like fire. The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. I received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21v727000 (engine). I previously took vehicle in to dealer for sae issue back in March of 2022. They said it was fixed and their were no other vehicle engine issues. I was driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. My warning light is illuminated. I was able to restart the vehicle and park the vehicle on the side of the roadway. The vehicle was not drivable. I took the vehicle to the local dealer who associated the failure with the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect. I have contacted the dealership 4 times and no one has called me back.
The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shuddering with several unknown warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the speedometer, turn signals, and temperature gauge failed to operate while driving. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with electrical system failure. The dealer replaced the vacuum pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to technical service bulletin: 19-01-010h (tucson vacuum pump sealant application/cap replacement) however, the vehicle was not covered by the TSB. The failure mileage was 78,388.
The components that are malfunctioning are the gas nozzle entrance, and the dual clutch transmission. It’s available for inspection, and is being inspected currently at a dealership. My safety’s been put at risk to combustion when filling gas, resulting in risks of fire and/or explosion. The dual clutch affects my, and others, safety with major hesitation, jerking, and risk of stalling at any given time. The problem with sparking at the gas nozzle entrance has been reproduced and recorded by the dealership server al times. The dual clutch was diagnosed as faulty and replaced twice, both within a two and a half year span (from which I was told it will continually happened and need to be replaced down the road). The issues have been inspected by dealership, kengraff Hyundai surprise, arizona 85388. There were absolutely no warning lamps, messages, and/or symptoms of the problems.
Vehicle has failed multiple times while driving in traffic forcing erratic, sudden and unexpected moves across traffic to get to side of road while trying to avoid accident. 1) ignition coil failure/cylinder misfire 3 occasions causing violent shaking suddenly while driving. Replaced all three times. $2,300 expense 2) transmission failure/slipping and then lunging within traffic and now undrivable. $7,200 quote from dealer to fix!.
While driving, switched window buttons, driver side front and passenger front, windows will not return to closed position. Also rear windows will not operate as well. When window buttons pressed, clicks and whirring sound heard but windows do not go up. Also lights flash on on transmission gear lights, p, r, n, d. Automatic seat functions also do not work. Cannot adjust driver position to effective driver position. Have left multiple vm's with dealer with no response. Cma Hyundai, colonial heights va.
The sunroof has issues closing. Barely is used and the sun shade will not close. Also the car rocks and stutters when accelerating. It stops after you get going. Dealership said this is normal.
I was driving park the car and it wouldn't turn back on . I open the door and the car turn back on . The radio everything reset. Now again couples of days later I was putting gas on the car went finish the car wouldn't start like if no electricity wiered . Everything again reset I am terrified that is a electrical problem. Is to danger. It should be a recalled for this. I think this problem that I am having with my Hyundai Tucson 2017 has electrical problem. And I ain't the only one .
After the engine was replaced we are still having electrical and engine issues and dealers in atlanta area will not accept engine repairs. The car will not start consistently and most dangerous if we use our bights (lights) for just a second even, the car will shut down and restart when the bights are released. This was in stop and go traffic on the highway the radio will stop and do a reset while driving for no reason this has happened on multiple occasions but the bright on day reported below.
The 2017 Hyundai tuscan dual clutch transmission is seizing and unable accurate above 40 -45 mph. It is also unable to engage into reverse. It will shift into reverse, however will not move even when one places their foot on the gas pedal. The Hyundai Tucson seized while driving and I was almost hit in traffic. The dealerships in the austin area have not been helpful as the closest they state they could look at it is November or December 2022 for a diagnostic and they are not willing to honor the powertrain warranty. After doing some research it seems a commen issue among tuscan owners and is very similar to the issue Hyundai had with recall # 149 as related to the 2016 model. The vehicle is hazardous and unsafe to drive. The vehicle is putting the safety of myself and others at risk. There was no warning what so ever until later in the day when the check engine light came on. It is available for inspection.
The driver side passenger door will not open with pulling on the door handle multiple times, about 10+ tries with a lot of force to get the door open. This is not a lubrication issue, I have lubricated the locking mechanism and is hasn't helped at all. Imagine if the car rolled over and was on fire and this door wont open, its terrifying to think. There are no warning lights, the only way I found out that this was a widespread issue was on a car forum. I imagine that this is happening to many others, but they are not reporting it. Just to be clear, this isn't a door lock actuator issue, the locks are unlocking and locking just fine, there is a fatal flaw with the latching mechanism.
