When coasting, the car idles rough and lurches forward. When stopped and pressing the gas, it takes sever seconds for the car to take off. This puts the driver at risk as it doesn't happen consistently- you can either take off right away or you're delayed. The rough idling sounds and feels as though the car is about to stall. In traffic, this presents a hazard.
When attempting to accelerate from being stopped at a light, stop sign, etc. The vehicle stalls for about 3-5 seconds before moving. When attempting to change lanes or merge onto the highway there is a delay. I've had the vehicle for 1. 5 years (original owner). These issues started approximately 1 month ago.
There have been countless times, that our 2017 Hyundai Tucson has had trouble accelerating in low gear, whether coming to a stop at a stop sign or red light and then trying to accelerate or when trying to accelerate from a slow speed (5-10mph). Most often times, when pressing the gas peddle to accelerate it is very delayed, almost no acceleration response for about 5 seconds, and then it is very jerky getting into gear at that point. I finally had enough of this when my wife and I came extremely close to getting rear ended (the vehicle behind us came screeching to a halt) as there was no acceleration response when I pulled onto a 50mph road after stopping at a stop sign. The 2017 Hyundai Tucson is not safe to drive until this acceleration issue is fixed. I have done research and seen thousands of other complaints on this same issue for this same exact car. Further, Hyundai had a recall for the same issue on the 2016 model, but they did not fix the issue for the 2017's. I implore the NHTSA and Hyundai to make this a recall! do the right thing for your customers Hyundai and save people from some bad accidents and potential loss of life.
From stop to 30 mph intermittent hesitation. Dangerous when trying to merge for don't know if car will move or not. It 'bucks' from start to acceleration intermittently. From low speed to try to accelerate doesn't always want to accelerate. Dual clutch seems to be the problem and maybe something else. Hyundai service did nothing to help with this problem, just 'live with it'. Would they like their teenager driving such a car?? some times car lurches forward too instead of hesitation. Gas mileage terrible too. Not getting what they said, 18-20 mph, once in awhile 25 or 30.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. Every time the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle would not accelerate immediately. The vehicle took 4 to 8 seconds to accelerate. The contact stated that the failure occurred sporadically for approximately eight months, but was getting worse. The vehicle was taken to myrtle beach Hyundai (1887 us-501, myrtle beach, SC 29577), but they were not able to replicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The VIN was unavailable.
We bought our Hyundai Tucson in September 2018 and within weeks, we started noticing problems with erratic acceleration and inconsistent response of gas pedal. We have gotten the car evaluated numerous times, but nothing was diagnosed to be causing this. The service department kept saying that there are some known problems with acceleration that Hyundai hasn't communicated a solution to the service department, therefore there is nothing they can do. Often times the rpm level skyrockets leaving the car without the ability to accelerate. Our 7-speed dct is having shifting problems, hesitation with acceleration, and near loss of power. The transmission particularly misbehaves during warmer temperatures and certain driving conditions. The transmission problems occur without warning, which is a safety hazard. And is a danger to everyone on the road. The service department claims that Hyundai has known about the transmission and control module problems but is not able to do anything about it. We would have never purchased the vehicles if we would have known about the alleged transmission problems. We have been in the middle of left turns on large city streets, almost getting hit, because nobody was anticipating the sudden non response of the gas pedal. This issue is happening very frequently during left turns, because you have to be quick. We hope that this problem is taken serious as it is extremely dangerous to be driving with this car.
When I make a turn right or left, joining traffic, I press acceleration and the car does nothing. . . I may even push the pedal to the floor, engine roars at 5-6k and the car does not move at all or moves extremely slowly. . . I watch the cards approaching from the back and start to pray. . . I barely escaped few accident situations because the approaching drivers were cautious enough about something wrong going on with my car, not moving. This happened multiple times. The authorized Hyundai service did not find anything wrong. But, according to other public records, the issue seems likely to be the dual clutch transmission (dct), later renamed to "automated manual", which is what I have in my Tucson.
Something is majorly wrong with how this vehicle shifts gears. When you slow down, or don't come to a complete stop for several seconds, the transmission doesn't down shift properly, causing a transmission slippage and an over revving of the engine, which results in a delay in acceleration. This is an extremely dangerous situation when trying to merge into oncoming traffic. On several occasions, I have tried to turn onto a street or highway and nearly been rear ended or t-boned because of my vehicle stalling for no reason, leaving me floundering in the middle of the street until the vehicle decided to shift properly and resume acceleration. This vehicle needs to be recalled immediately before someone gets killed, for it is only a matter of time before that happens, provided it hasn't already occurred. In fact, I got in a car accident the other day while merging onto a frontage road next to an interstate, and I believe that this stalling transmission slippage is to blame. Please take this issue seriously as it appears that many other people are having this same dangerous problem with their 2017 tuscons as well. This dangerous defect occurs every day I drive this vehicle. Every day.
My vehicle seems to stall/hesitate when accelerating from a full stop. I have the 1. 6 turbo automatic transmission which I understand has a software glitch that can delay acceleration from when the car is stationary. This occurs quite often when proceeding when light turns green--dangerous when making a left turn & in a precarious position multiple times with oncoming traffic. Brought car to dealer w/complaint but they did not make any adjustments or corrections. Told me to "live with it. " unacceptable! please help.
Traffic was clear and attempted to turn left. While doing so, the vehicle abruptly stalled and I could not accelerate to my lane, causing brief panic since I was in the vehicle with my baby and a freightliner was now approaching. The vehicle responded in the same manner while my husband drove it several days later. Additionally, there was a horrendous smell coming from the vehicle as we traveled in traffic at about 3mph or less. My husband and I were on edge and just wanted to get home safely without any further issues with the Tucson. We purchased the vehicle from Hyundai of longview on November 29, 2017.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that the transmission slipped and the vehicle jerked violently sometimes. On one occasion, in a shopping plaza parking lot, the vehicle jerked violently, the steering wheel seized, and the vehicle accelerated on its own. The brakes failed to operate and the contact's vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle twice. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the neck and back, which required medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed by the police to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was then taken to an insurance body shop to be diagnosed, but a failure could not be located. The body damage was repaired. The failure mileage was 2,000.
The stupid car lurches forward when trying to accelerate and quits in the flow of traffic and intersection. It is a piece of garbage as it endangers everyone in the vehicle. A 2 to 3 second pause with the accelerator pushed to the floor it does nothing and the idiots at edwards auto/ Hyundai don't care all vehicles should be recalled and removed from service until they fire the moron programmers and fix the computer, software, brake and accelerator sensors. Fact is the car's computer isn't fast enough to process the sensors. It is a danger to myself and if iget hurt the federal government wont have enough money to pay me for failing to take all tuscons off the road and put the board of directors in jail for public endangerment.
While driving I have noticed that when I begin to accelerate after a complete stop my car jerks forward and doesn't catch. It's almost as if the vehicle stalls before moving forward, this happens when moving forward or reversing from a complete stop. I haven't been able to get a response to the issue from the dealership though I've let them know there is an issue multiple times over the past 3 months.
Tucson with dct accelerates very slowly after coming to a stop, basically unresponsive for a couple seconds. This happens all the time in city driving no matter what direction I go after the stop. I noticed this vehicle stays in 2nd gear unless it comes to a complete stop for a full second. Anything less than that and the car stays in 2nd gear and then lags and stutters when the accelerator is pressed. I don't know for sure but a vehicle that doesn't downshift to 1st gear when basically stopped might be an issue.
Sometimes acceleration pedal is unresponsive even half way pressed. Usually it happens on low speeds. It already mede me moving much slower than I should. If I press it further it might suddenly start working but it applies too much acceleration since it was pressed too hard at that point. Doesn't feel right when you loose control over vehicle, it's critical. Conditions when it happened: in motion: low speed, turning, city street. Happened multiple times so I confident it's not one-time issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while at an intersection the gear shift to neutral and the vehicle accelerated without any warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the gear shift at various times and causes the vehicle to accelerated. The contact schedule an appointment with the dealer kearny mesa Hyundai 4797 convoy st, san diego, CA 92111 (858)278-7100 to have the vehicle diagnosed but no diagnosed test has been performed. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.
My car is delayed in acceleration and seems to have trouble shifting geers.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact called on behalf of the driver. While driving at an unknown speed, the transmission went into neutral, the check engine indicator inadvertently illuminated, and the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle was taken to bay Hyundai (located at 641 w 15th st, panama city, FL 32401, (877) 461-4473) for diagnostic testing, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.
I have been experiencing a lack of acceleration numerous times as I'm trying to merge into traffic on the highway and also as I try to accelerate from a stationary position waiting for a light and changing lanes also. Three months ago I took the car to the dealer and I told them of this problem and they said they will check it. When I picked up the car I was told that a reset was done to the computer to correct this issue. It is still happening. I have been in close calls numerous times and I don't feel safe for myself or others on the road because of this condition. I will be taking the SUV to dealer again this weekend to have them check it again. I hope that a recall happens before someone has a fatal accident because of this issue. SUV has 19500 miles.
While vehicle is being driven, in motion on a street and needing to accelerate, especially when making a turn, often the accelerator pedal will seem to stall or falter when being depressed, causing the vehicle to slow, then the pedal continues downward and the vehicle lurches forward. Hyundai service advisor on July 6, 2018 politely said "all Tucson turbo models do this, no problem". To me this is scary. Does NHTSA think likewise and could there be a safety issue?.
My Hyundai Tucson hesitates when trying to accelerate. It feels as though someone is holding down the brake as I am trying to hit the gas pedal. It is very scary because all of a sudden the car will get this burst of energy and accelerate forward. This has occurred on multiple occasions while trying to take a turn at an intersection or pulling out of my driveway. It is very frustrating that so many people are experiencing the same issue and Hyundai does not have a recall. I have spoken to the dealership about this when bringing my car in for regular maintenance visits and have been told they will look into it. I have had zero luck with issue being resolved.
My vehicle has a acceleration, hesitation problem. The vehicle is stopped and when I put my foot on the gas it doesn't move then after a few second shoots forward. Just missed hitting another car today on route 128. This is a on going problem. Sometimes when I'm driving the vehicle will all of a sudden speed up. I feel very unsafe.
My Hyundai Tucson car hesitate to start from the signal light. I. E it took around 2 to 3 seconds to accelerate [I end up in applying gas pedal hardly to get the move from light ] and this had happened for 4 times so far from 2017 July to now. When I check with Hyundai service dealers on this problem, they said they have to check it completely and for that they would charge me for "vehicle inspection and diagnose" :( , I'm not ready to afford as this is not happening often.
I have owned my 2017 Hyundai Tucson since 10/20/17. In the last year I have had it at the dealership 3x for the check engine light. Twice my vehicle had performance issues while entering the highway and acceleration. It is life endangering. When accelerating onto the highway, the engine loses speed. The rpm gauge starts going wacky, off the charts. It will rev to 5 rpm back down to 3 rpm and back & forth. When the foot is on the gas peddle trying to increase to highway speed, the engine will go to 45 mph. When one a highway where the speed limit is 70 mph, it becomes life threatening. When I finally reached a speed of 70, it would go for a short time and then decrease to 50 mph. Very scary. Twice it was in service for the same performance issue . The 2nd time they replaced boost sensor range. It works ok now. However, the shifting of the transmission is hard and seems to shift improperly. It too is tied to the acceleration. Hyundai that is the natural performance on the engine & transmission. The last check engine was an alternator failure. I have owned 3 Hyundai's. I have helped my daughter buy her 2 Hyundai's. My mother as well. I have never seen these kind of issues. Also the natural hydraulic closing on the back door is a real safety hazard. One day the door started closing while my body was half inside. There should be a sensor to detect when there is an object in the way. That too is caused for alarm in safety. These 2 issues that I have written about can & will cause death.
Upon pressing the gas pedal from a complete stop, or while driving at very low speeds (less than 20 mph), vehicle hesitates to accelerate for 2 to 3 seconds. After the 2 or 3 second pause, car finally accelerates with very high rpm's.
Vehicle stutters/hesitates on take-off from start. Several near dangerous misses crossing and merging into traffic lanes. Have complained several times to corporate Hyundai to no avail. They claim issue is known and has to do with improper operation of dual/double clutch technology. Spoke also with technicians who indicate they are aware of issue, but can't do anything to remedy the dangers. Daughter drives this vehicle and has been in at least three near miss side collisions and several near stall outs on major roadway and intersections while either turning left or right at traffic lights. The last incident she was involved in had three family occupants in the vehicle who were witnesses to the failed acceleration/stalling/stuttering/jerking acceleration of the vehicle and were shocked it had happened to such a new vehicle. I have also had this vehicle in the same service shop that I purchased the Hyundai from on arapahoe road in centennial, colorado, under the name of auto nation Hyundai. I have also driven the care on several occasions and can say it can be dangerous to drive in especially when attempting to pull out into oncoming traffic from a side road. We have attempted to work with Hyundai corporate on this issue and asked them to take the vehicle back, but they indicated it does not meet their lemon rules, nor has it been in the repair shop enough times to warrant a buy-back. Bottom line now is there's nothing for them to repair since they've indicated they have no fix for this issue, but do admit they are fully aware of the issue and still choose to nothing to remedy the dangers.
Tl the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. On several occasions, while attempting to accelerate from a traffic light, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. Also, the rpms increased and the vehicle abruptly lunged forward. The vehicle was taken to henderson Hyundai superstore (460 n boulder hwy, henderson, nv 89015, (702) 565-1500) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer informed the contact to have the vehicle diagnosed by another dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 2,200.
I love everything about my Hyundai Tucson, however the transmission issues are horrible. When you take off from a complete stop, you have to feather the gas pedal to take off, otherwise the transmission will slip during take off. Driving in rush hour traffic (stop and go) makes the drive feel like I am driving a stick shift, meaning the transmission feels jerky. This is something that happens everyday and for me is a safety issue.
Car will no longer accelerate over 60mph and when the car is in drive it sometimes will not accelerate for a couple of seconds from a complete stop.
After backing out of my garage, I left the car running in my driveway. The car was stationary in the driveway for about 5 minutes. After which time the car accelerated through my garage and hit me, pinning me against the wall of my garage for about 5 minutes. The acceleration then subsided and the car slightly backed up and remained stationary giving me enough room to wedge out between my car and the garage wall. I've been having intermittent issues with acceleration. At times the vehicle surges when I step on the accelerator and other times the rpms swing way up and the vehilce lags creating a dangerous situation when trying to change lanes on the highway at faster speeds.
I have taken my car to the dealership 4 times since the purchase of my vehicle in September for the same similar issues all resulting from the dual clutch transmission. The issues have ranged and started will check engine light coming on in November whereas car was running rough and delay in acceleration. They replaced a sensor. 3 days later check engine light came back on again causing low power they replaced engine harness. February again rough idle and car died multiple times while at light and/or parked causing to be restarted service department stated they were not able to duplicate but usual cause is due to dual clutch so they reset dual clutch adaptive valves. March 2nd while sitting in a parking lot in drive I pushed the gas pedal rpms reved to 3-4 and I could hear the engine as if I was driving whereas the car was not moving similar to if the car was in neutral. March 5th after not driving the car for the weekend I was stopped at a red light when the light turned green to make a left turn I accelerated and the car slows down causing cars behind me to slam on breaks to avoid rear ending me. Next day while driving through a residential area going around 10 miles per hour the car jeeves me foward and slows down to almost a dead stop. I took the vehicle back again we're again they said it can not be duplicated and they also stated the car is supposed to slow down when driving drastic speeds often. Almost causing accidents. There is no way myself or any of my children will be driving this car I am terrified of this vehicle and don't feel I should have to risk my families lives for someone to realize something is terribly wrong with my car.
Car engine/transmission stalls, lags, hesitates, jumps and chugs when gas is pressed from a stopped position or in slow stop and go traffic. When pressing on the gas pedal the engine/trans does not engage and move the car. After a few seconds the car will engage and jerk, and jump. The hesitation makes the car feel like it is going to stall out. Very dangerous situation. I am afraid every time I get in the car to drive. This has been going since the day bought the car.
Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 40 mph when depressed accelerator pedal the vehicle starts to make a abnormal noise then the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to resumed back to normal after a couple seconds . The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to local dealer priority Hyundai located at 1499 s military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320 were it was diagnosed with needing to be replaced transmission. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately  200. Ab.
I have owned the Tucson since 1/25/17. There is a lag/surge issue when excelerating. Not all the time, but seems to be happening more lately. In hindsight this situation had happened but I thought it was just getting use to the new vehicle. When I brought it in for service I mentioned it on a couple of occasions. I was told it was due to the dual clutch and the vehicle was "operating as intended". I find that hard to believe that when you are sitting at a stop light and step on the gas when the light changes it lags then surges into the intersection. Or, stopped in traffic and when it is time to move forward, lag and surge almost hitting the vehicle in front of me. As well as merging onto a highway and lagging as traffic is coming at you at 65 mph and you are lagging and hoping not to be hit. I find it hard to believe that Hyundai wants their vehicles to be running in this manner. I have been in touch with Hyundai customer connect and they send me back to the dealership. When I first got on to your site there wasn't as many reports as there are today. This is a very dangerous situation and I don't want to be a statistic. I have owned several Hyundai's over the years but never their SUV. I am keeping a record or every time this happens.
Hesitation on acceleration, from a stop may accelerate or sit there. I see there are already 29 complaints of the same thing and in 2016 there were 108 complaints for the dry type dual clutch transmission (dct) application logic mine 1. 6 turbo. Use sport mode not s fix nor solution. Recall #149 in 2016 fix? some one will die!.
