Vehicle fuel injector code p053f84 reading on 9/9/26, this is the second time vehicle was taken to the dealership for the exact same problem, the idle button in orange, and displayed, first visit while vehicle within warranty limits technician stated couldn't find anything wrong, now vehicle is out of warranty and dealership wants $1300 to fix the same issue. Also the engine was hesitating at each occurrence.

The car was shaking, idling and accelerating and engine lights on.

The contact referenced an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not associated with a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,565.

Vehicle turned itself off with no warning while being driven @ 40 moh. Dealer suspects fuel injectors, but could be ignition coil.

While driving my 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid, the vehicle suddenly lost power, began shaking, and all warning lights illuminated at once. The car would not accelerate properly and became unsafe to operate in traffic. After pulling over and restarting the vehicle, the warnings cleared, but the issue has occurred more than once. It first occurred 3/25/26. The dealer was not able to reproduce the issue but found numerous faults and reset them. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle can unexpectedly lose motor power while driving, creating a risk of collision. The problem is intermittent and unpredictable.

My 2022 Hyundai Tucson experience, a sudden transmission failure at approximately 92,520 miles. The vehicle develop shifting issues and abnormal noises before losing propulsión. While driving. Hyundai diagnosed and internal transmission failure and approved transmission replacement. I’m concerned about the sudden loss of proportion and the safety risk this creates. Hyundai proposed repair is to replace the transmission with a rebuild remanufacture transmission rather than a new transmission. I am concerned about the reliability of the repair following a complete transmission failure.

The rocker arm of the engine has failed, causing a repair for a full engine replacement. The car has always undergone maintenance timely, and upon inspection by the dealership technician, the report state the vehicle was up to adequate level. There were no symptoms before the issue occurred, only the sudden catastrophic engine failure.

Check engine light appeared, car began shaking and struggling to accelerate. Independent mechanic and oreileys test stated cylinder 3 misfirw. Dealership stated gdi fuel injectors were leaking and is a known issue in several 2022 Hyundai tuscon and needed to be replaced.

In April 2026 (29,805 miles) I was on an interstate underpass u-turn and when I went to accelerate from the u-turn, the vehicle “revved”, had difficulty accelerating, and appeared to not go into the next gear for a roughly 10 seconds, meaning I was unable to accelerate and get out of the way from oncoming traffic. Traffic slowed and the vehicle suddenly returned to normal (no warning lights appeared) and I drove home cautiously with hazards on. When attempting to leave less than 45 minutes later, the vehicle started, then as I placed it into drive, it began lunging and the check engine light appeared. Because it was running rough and kept lunging, I parked and had it towed to the dealership. The dtc code listed was po30300 (dtc system powertrain and subsystem ems). Per the dealership, fuel injector #3 was bad and needed to be replaced. When I picked up the vehicle, notes stated “ gdi fuel injctr repl (all4)”. I picked up the vehicle after the repair. In August 2026 (30,923 miles), with less than 1,000 miles driven since repair, I started the vehicle and it immediately “died”. I restarted it and the check engine light came on and it began lunging out of my driveway. I also had difficulty getting the vehicle to brake and almost hit our community entrance/exit gate. A notification appeared on my infotainment system stating: “a possible condition with your engine control system has been detected. A full system check is recommended to be done soon. Please contact your local dealership to schedule an appointment”. The dtc codes listed on the Hyundai app were: po30020, po30040, po30010, po30000, and po19185, p217700. (dtc system powertrain and subsystem ems). I had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They didn’t have a loaner vehicle and I canceled my trip. Later, I was notified that “a hose was disconnected and was allowing air to enter the engine”. He stated, “we flushed it out and everything is working now”. I was told I could come pick it up before they closed.

Car is a gas hybrid (not plugin). 3 occurrences over the last couple of months. Car emits a warning sound and a message on the dash says "check hybrid system. Stop safely". Basically right after this message the car starts losing power and stops. Doesn't matter if on freeway or not. You need to find a place to pull over or you stop traffic wherever you are. Looks like hybrid battery is completely drained. Can not be re-created. Dealer has it now for the 3rd time. Dealer in the past have not been able to find cause/cure since this issue is not posting any errors to the onboard diagnostic system. Temporary 'fix' is to power off car, and power back on. Looks like this is a 'known' issue though as its being reported by quite a few people online.

Bought the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. It was driving perfect no issues then I hit 52,000 miles and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle started sputtering and idling hard like it wasn’t getting fuel when the gas was pressed. I was on the interstate and the vehicle wouldn’t go over 35mph. Now the check engine light illuminates off and on when it feels like it.

This vehicle has a considerate amount of oil dilution problems. I have had this vehicle taken in for service several times due to gasoline mixed into the engine oil. Again on March 6 2026 for the 4th time now the vehicle has a check engine light extreme hesitation with an almost stopping jerking motion due to dilution problems. Multiple dealerships claim there is nothing wrong with the car. . There is a distinct gasoline smell in the engine oil. The vehicle at times is almost unsafe to drive due to the hesitation and halting it does on its own. Every time a dealership is contacted my problem is dismissed. There is a burning smell due to the oil gas dilution issue. The car reaches higher temperatures than it should. And now the Hyundai dealership is making me wait almost a month again to have the problem looked at again which then puts me as the driver in an unsafe situation to drive a vehicle with such hesitation and fire risk. If they dismiss this oil and gas mix again and do not repair the car it could seize my engine or maybe possibly even cause fire damage.

I am submitting this complaint regarding my 2022 Hyundai Tucson equipped with the 2. 5l engine. The vehicle has experienced multiple incidents of severe engine misfiring while driving. During these events, the engine begins to shake violently, the entire vehicle vibrates, and engine power is significantly reduced. The vehicle becomes unable to accelerate normally, creating a serious safety hazard, especially when driving on highways or in traffic. The malfunction has occurred several times. Diagnostic trouble codes p0302 and p0303 have been recorded, indicating cylinder misfires. In some cases, turning the engine off and restarting it temporarily restores normal operation. On other occasions, adding fuel system cleaner appeared to temporarily improve the condition. However, the problem eventually returns. Because the condition is intermittent, the Hyundai dealership has been unable to reproduce the failure during inspection and therefore has not performed a repair under warranty. Despite multiple visits, the root cause remains unidentified. I am concerned that the sudden loss of power and severe engine vibration could result in an accident if the vehicle is unable to maintain speed or accelerate while traveling at highway speeds. This issue has significantly affected the safe operation of the vehicle. I request that this matter be investigated, as it appears to be a recurring safety-related defect.

I am dealing with this issue where I am getting fuel injector issue and getting cylinder 3 misfire and air fuel imbalance code. It comes and goes. I spent 1500 bucks flushing fuel system and replacing spark plugs and coil. But the issue is still there! I changed the battery and got it to dealership they said they could find the issue. I was on freeway going southbound near exit 34 when the car starts shaking and I lost acceleration.

While operating the vehicle, the engine shut down. Complete loss of power. Engine would restart, stall and then not restart. Vehicle immobile. Vehicle towed to dealership since could not be driven. Strong smell of gasoline.

A fire report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle was burned all the way to the rear seat of the vehicle. The fire burned another vehicle that was parked in the contractor's yard. In addition, the contact stated that the fire burned a good portion of the contact's residential yard. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned a total loss by the insurance company. The fire inspector informed the contact that the fire started in the engine near the battery. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,500.

The contact's wife owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife reported that the vehicle shuddered significantly and failed to exceed 30 mph while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injectors were leaking, and the dealer determined that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had redesigned the fuel injectors due to the known failure. The dealer informed the contact that the repair could not be covered under the extended warranty because the vehicle had exceeded the required mileage. The contact was informed that parts needed to be ordered to repair the vehicle. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB number: 22-FL-002h. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed; however, no assistance had been provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

I am submitting this complaint regarding an ongoing and dangerous issue with my 2022 Hyundai Tucson involving repeated fuel injector failures that have caused the vehicle to stall and lose power while driving, without any prior warning indicators. The first incident occurred in October 2023, at approximately 16,000 miles, when the car suddenly died while I was driving. There were no warning lights or signs of a problem before the stall occurred. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership, where they replaced two fuel injectors. Just two weeks later, the same issue happened again—the car died while driving and was towed back to the dealership. The remaining injectors were then replaced. Unfortunately, this problem has continued. In November 2024, at around 26,000 miles, the vehicle again stalled while driving, with no warning, due to another fuel injector failure ( more failed injectors). Most recently, on October 18, 2025, with 31,000 miles on the odometer, my Tucson lost power and died while I was merging onto an interstate—once again with no warning or alert of any kind. I am still waiting for confirmation of how many injectors have failed this time. This is an extremely serious safety hazard. Losing engine power unexpectedly, especially while merging into highway traffic, puts both the driver and others on the road at significant risk of a collision or serious injury. Despite multiple occurrences, Hyundai has not identified the root cause of the injector failures and continues only to replace the faulty parts, which clearly does not resolve the underlying issue. It is unacceptable that a relatively new vehicle would experience repeated fuel system failures of this nature, and it is clear that there is a systemic defect affecting safety and reliability. I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue to determine whether other Hyundai Tucson owners are experiencing similar failures and whether a recall or safety action is warranted.

2022 Tucson (nx4, alabama built) 2. 5l engine experienced a catastrophic failure leading to Hyundai dealer diagnosis that "cylinder #3 is not contributing properly," which requires a full engine replacement. The vehicle is currently located at home and is available for inspection upon request. The engine scuffing has resulted in a severe loss of power contribution from cylinder #3, leading to potential for sudden engine stall or complete loss of motive power while driving. If the engine seizes or stalls at highway speeds or during a critical maneuver (e. G. , merging onto a freeway or turning across traffic), it creates an unreasonable risk of a rear-end collision or a catastrophic accident, endangering both the driver and others on the road. Furthermore, the internal mechanical failure creates a significant fire risk due to potential oil leakage onto hot exhaust components. The problem has been confirmed by Hyundai service center in el paso, texas and three independent service centers in arizona and texas. All four assessments concluded that the vehicle requires a full engine replacement due to severe internal damage. Inspected by Hyundai service center in el paso, TX. Despite confirming failure, Hyundai refuses to provide critical diagnostic data (power balance test, endoscopic inspection, dtcs) and the determined root cause. This refusal hinders warranty transparency. The check engine light (cel) did not illuminate. Symptoms appeared late September 2025 at approximately 88,000 miles (audible engine noise/scuffing, rough idle, significant power loss). This failure at non-typical mileage demonstrates a severe internal defect and a safety system malfunction (failure of the ecu/cel to adequately warn the driver). Note: dashcam video documentation of the engine failure symptoms (audible noise and power loss) is available and can be presented to investigators upon request.

Then go very slowly with little power, almost got into an accident because of the loss of acceleration. On August 14, 2025, at approximately 12:40 am, my 2022 Hyundai Tucson limited suddenly stalled while driving and became completely non-functional. The vehicle had about 25,000 miles at the time. This left me stranded on the highway in the middle of the night, creating a serious safety risk for myself and other motorists. The vehicle was towed to a Hyundai dealership. The dealer claimed the issue was caused by “carbon buildup” and stated that the problem would only be considered “repaired” if I paid for a fuel injection cleaning and fuel induction decarb service (about $500). These services are not listed in the Hyundai factory maintenance schedule, and no diagnostic evidence (photos, test results, or measurements) was provided to support the claim. Because the stall made the vehicle inoperable, I believe this should have been handled under warranty. Instead, I was pressured to pay for optional services in order to have the safety issue resolved. Safety risk: the vehicle stalled without warning at highway speed, placing myself and others at risk of collision. Based on the dealerhip this needed to be serviced every 20k miles and Hyundai deosnot recommend to consumers for some reason. .

While driving, I accelerated to merge onto the highway. The check engine light flashed a few times and the engine started wobbling like it was misfiring. I have also been having a parasitic drain on my auxiliary batter that makes the car not open to my key fob that I know works. The dealership told me it was bad fuel, but they “tested the fuel” with no diagnostic report/proof/records, saying that the fuel was bad and had a high concentration of 5% alcohol. They re-did the test and took pictures which shows the fuel is within tolerance but no diagnostic report and are refusing to complete a warranty checkup on my engine/electrical system. Also, the misfires with acceleration due to merging has happened 3 times. From the start back in July 2025 till now.

While driving on highway going 65 mph my car 22 Hyundai Tucson sel dashboard lights turned red and shut off on the highway with no warning, was not able to put in park for 10 minutes. My safety was put at risk, the vehicle stopped mid drive on the highway with other vehicles. Dealership has not fixed or looked at the issue.

My high pressure fuel injectors and spark plug had to be replaced at 72,000 miles. My check engine light came on and the car started vibrating and was not accelerating properly. I spoke to three Hyundai dealership service centers and each of them acknowledged that it was a known issue with 2022 Hyundai Tucsons.

Fuel injectors failure. . . . . Second one in a little over a year. Broke down on major highway. . Towed to hundai in cape girardau as it is under power train warranty. Only to be told that this is not part of the power train even though it is in the engine. Known issue,, last time the mechanic told us it was part of power train. There have been service bulletins on this issue.

Inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, or others: at this point, the issue has been inspected and diagnosed by the Hyundai dealership. It has not been inspected by police, insurance, or any other outside parties. Vehicle has just over 20,000 miles, and all four high-pressure fuel injectors have been diagnosed as “bad”. This is a very common issue reported on the internet for 2022 Hyundai Tucson vehicles. Vehicle misfires and loses power with check engine light.

While merging onto [xxx] in southington, CT, the vehicle would not accelerate past 25 mph which is very dangerous for merging onto an interstate highway. Luckily, my wife was able to safely pull over onto the shoulder. We shut the vehicle off for a minute, restarted it, and have had no problems since. There were no warnings, and no check engine indicator was displayed. I'll contact the dealer this month at a regular maintenance visit. 2022 to Hyundai tuscon now with the third cylinder misfire due to faulty fuel injector. This can be inspected upon request. Upon second occurrence, requested all cylinders be replaced and advised could not do this under warranty. Second filing to NHTSA. This incident put myself and other drivers at risk. I was driving on a highway and the cylinder misfire occurred resulting in check engine light and vehicle going into limp mode and inability to drive more than 30-40 mph. The entire vehicle violently shakes and loses power with this misfire. In the previous occurrences , could not accelerate beyond 20 mph. I could have been rear ended or caused a serious accident on the highway as a result of Hyundai faulty fuel injectors and cylinder misfires. My vehicle has now been seen 3x for the same issue and replaced by dealer. There were no warning signs prior to the failure of the fuel injector resulting in cylinder misfire and loss of power and inability to accelerate. This is a very dangerous faulty component of this year make and model- it is a known issue. Still no recall. I have a "new" car that puts me in danger every 4-6 months when I lose power in my vehicle with no warning or cause except from faulty parts. This faulty part is going to cause serious injuries/accidents if it is not addressed.

Hyundai has a service bulletin for their 12v battery but isn’t notifying owners. Today my vehicle stopped working and lost all acceleration on a busy 3 lane street that is 55mph. I was able to limp it to a left turn lane where I had to research the issue and found many others had instances like mine. The battery stops working and subsequently stops the vehicle from accelerating and tells you to ‘stop safely’ with no warning or indication that you’re about to stop moving on a road.
