1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2026

At a slow speed the car lurched, paused, in traffic. The engine light is on. It could be dangerous.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2026

The touchscreen is not reposnive to touch except in one tiny corner. We’re reported this at thw Hyundai dealership at least three times over the years- they said “they can’t see a problem”, which is odd because the screen literally does not respond to touch. When it’s hot, even with the ac on full blast, sometimes we will be driving and the touchscreen starts making beeps and starts going into the settings menu all on its own without being touched, and starts randomly changing settings. Or, we will connect a phone with google maps, and the screen will randomly change to something else or a different view. This is a dangerous distraction, and Hyundai has refused to acknowledge this problem. The screen is unusable, we are forced to use our phones to use navigation directions just to be safe in our own car. This has been an issue starting in 2023 and to this day has been persistent. We have done both hard and soft resets to ni avail. We have also reported, on going to the dealership, that the screen says to update- they have never provided any update or instructions on how to update, even though every time we go to the Hyundai maintenance we are there for at least two hours or more.

Repeat repair timeline – loss of acceleration vehicle: 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid blue issue: intermittent loss of acceleration from a complete stop (safety concern) occurrence 1 approx. Date: 12/2025 mileage: ~ 48000 description: vehicle failed to accelerate immediately after a complete stop. Pressed accelerator and experienced a noticeable delay before the vehicle moved. No warning lights. Turned on and off. Restarted normal. Action taken: no service visit at this time. Occurrence 2 approx. Date: 01/2025 mileage: 12/2025 description: same issue occurred again from a complete stop. Delay in acceleration while entering traffic. No dashboard warnings. Action taken: issue noted for future service visit. Occurrence 3 (reported to dealership) date: 50,000-mile service 01/14/2025 mileage: ~50,000 miles description: loss of acceleration from a stop occurred multiple times prior to this visit. I informed the dealership that this was a very dangerous safety issue. Dealership response: vehicle was serviced as part of the 50,000-mile maintenance. Dealership stated they could not find anything wrong. No specific repair or explanation provided. Outcome: issue was not resolved. Occurrence 4 (post-service) date: January 28, 2026 mileage: ~55,999 miles description: after coming to a complete stop, I pressed the accelerator and the vehicle did not respond for several seconds. No warning lights or alerts. This occurred after the dealership stated no issue was found. This condition has resulted in a dangerous delay while entering traffic and creates an immediate and ongoing safety risk to the myself and young children passengers, and surrounding vehicles. The defect involves a loss of acceleration / loss of motive power and has occurred repeatedly without warning. I am formally requesting escalation beyond the dealership level, full documentation of this safety defect, and a permanent corrective resolution. It is not safe.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2026

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver’s and passenger’s side turn signals were flashing quickly. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the driver’s side and passenger’s side turn signals failed to properly illuminate. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a short-circuited wiring harness, which caused the junction box to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon further investigation, the contact stated that the part number: cwf61-au000; was installed previously by the same local dealer; however, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign: 25e091000 (trailer hitches). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

After inspection by a few people it was determined that the front passenger side lower frame cracked which then cracked the body oozing rusty water out of it. I was told that if the car was hit on the passenger side that it would not retain its ability to be stable and would crumple. It has been inspected by the Hyundai dealership, a general manager from another dealership and 3 auto body welders. This first appeared in December of 2025 after I had washed my car and was drying it off.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2025

January 2023-driving down the road and the car was shaking and wouldn’t give much gas when pressing the accelerator. When we got it towed to the dealer, they said it was the fuel injector. July 2024-driving on a major highway, car starting doing the same thing and stopped on the highway I pulled to the shoulder. I was not safe at all. The tow truck took over 2 hours to come. It was a hot summer day. When it finally got towed it was confirmed it was a second fuel injector. November 2025-driving and the car did the same thing, currently at the dealership and it’s the 3rd fuel injector. I’ve never felt so unsafe in a car. It only has 30k miles on it. I don’t drive on the highway because I get anxiety about it stopping again. There’s another fuel injector that “needs” to fail to complete all 4.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2025

On [xxx] at approximately [xxx] we were traveling west on [xxx] in canida when we heard an explosion and could hear air rushing into the vehicle. As soon as we could safely pull to the right and into the breakdown lane my wife got out and noticed a large hole in the panoramic sunroof. The glass was shattered but the glass stayed within the cloth cover. We were in shock but decided to continue on to our medical appointment in manchester. We had not been near an overpass and we felt no debris flying from the road or another vehicle. We called our insurance company, amica mutual and reported the incident. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

Car goes into limp mode and will not accelerate over 25 mph. This has happened 5 times while driving in traffic. It is very unsafe and could be the cause of an accident. Fortunately we found a place to pull off the road, wait a while, and restart the car.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2025

While driving my 2022 Hyundai Tucson at highway speed, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered with a loud “explosion” sound. There was no road debris, overhead structure, or external cause, and no warning lights or prior symptoms. The glass shows a central hole with spiderweb cracking radiating outward, which is consistent with a manufacturing defect in tempered glass panels, not an impact. The sunroof shade was closed, preventing glass from entering the cabin, but this failure created a serious safety risk to occupants and nearby drivers. This matches numerous reports of Hyundai panoramic sunroof failures and is similar to the pattern documented in NHTSA investigation pe13-017. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by Hyundai but is available for inspection. Incident occurred on [xxx], while driving from monroe, louisiana, to atlanta, GA, shortly after departure. The failure created a serious safety issue, forcing us to stop at a home depot and perform emergency repairs using tarp and gorilla tape to secure the roof and continue our trip safely. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2025

The computer(s) responsible for many of the safety systems have faulty software. The computer vision system incorrectly assess condition of the roadway and issues warnings that obscure the instrument cluster. The computer vision system also incorrectly determines that a collision is imminent (despite no obstacles being present) and activates the braking system. Hyundai has been aware of this issue since 2022 and has previously released a software patch to correct it. However, unpatched vehicles are still being sold (and resold) by Hyundai dealerships without being fixed because Hyundai has chosen to rescind the availability of the update. Unpatched vehicles are on the road preventing drivers from properly monitoring vehicle operation as a result of the continuous warning obscuring the cluster and are jeopardizing the occupants and other road users when the vehicles spontaneously initiate panic stops for phantom obstacles. Hyundai refuses requests to provide the existing update files because a future update with an uncertain release date is planned; release of the "upcoming" update has seemingly already been delayed 8 months.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2025

The vehicle comes with a panoramic sunroof and there is a ~8inch wide piece of glass that is between the windshield and the sunroof. While driving on the highway, at approximately 80mph, with no other cars or hazards in front of the vehicle, this piece of glass shattered. We heard a loud popping sound, immediately followed by shattering/cracking noises. It was not struck by any rocks or debris. After arriving at my location, the vehicle was immediately inspected at a Hyundai dealership where the determined the damage to be a manufacturing defect. This damage decreases the structural integrity of the vehicle and subjects it to water and electrical damage. There are multitudes of similar reports on forums across the internet. The damage currently remains present on the vehicle and photos have been taken. The damage has been assessed by two Hyundai dealerships but an insurance claim has not been filed as I am currently seeking the damage be covered under the basic 5yr/60,000 mile warranty.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2025

While driving on highway going 65 mph my car 22 Hyundai Tucson sel dashboard lights turned red and shut off on the highway with no warning, was not able to put in park for 10 minutes. My safety was put at risk, the vehicle stopped mid drive on the highway with other vehicles. Dealership has not fixed or looked at the issue.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2025

Safety issue having to replace multiple horns on the vehicle. Known issue from Hyundai America. Would like an investigation, maybe a recall.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2025

The car has had a check engine light on for a week. It sometimes jolts forward when pressing on the accelerator and it does it all of a sudden. Took it to the Hyundai dealership they say it’s due to the egr valve and sub harness.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2025

While driving, my entire dashboard lit up with every warning sound and symbol for the car. It would cycle through collision, airbags, braking, all of it. Luckily I was able to drive to a safe place. I let the car sit overnight and the alarms stopped. Took it to service and they could not recreate it and no codes showed up. Second time it happened, the warning sounds and lights didn’t stop. The car would jerk when I tried to put it in drive, so I had it towed to dealership. They have video and photos of it. After 2 weeks, they said it was fixed-a pin in a connector was bent. Had car for 3 days and it happened again. Had it towed again. They have had their ‘senior’ techs looking at it, and none can figure it out. There are reddit posts with this same issue, as well as Hyundai group sites.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2025

Driving on the freeway on 5/18/2025 my sunroof completely shattered. I was going about 70 mph and the sunroof was closed. It was not a hot day, approx. 73 degrees. The noise was so loud, as if a gun shot went off next to me. Nothing hit it, nothing around us, nothing was hit on my part. As a matter of fact I was driving in the toll lanes so really no other cars were around me. It came out of nowhere. I called the local Hyundai dealer and drove straight there. This was on a Sunday afternoon. Monday morning the service dept called and said it would be a few days before they have any answers. On Tuesday 5/20/25 the service guy called back with answers saying they have no idea why it happened, they will not cover it, something must have hit it and it will be $4000-$8500 and take 3-4 weeks to fix. He suggests I call my insurance company to file a claim! my car is a 2022 Hyundai tuscan limited with 43,000 miles, I purchased it brand new and have used my sunroof maybe a hand full of times. As you can see in the photo the glass blew out, not in, so nothing hit it to cause this to happen.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2025

Unbearable sound while driving the car, causing ear numbness and safety concerns I purchased a certified pre-owned vehicle from the dealership with the expectation that it would be free from defects. On the very first day, during the drive back home, the vehicle began making a persistent rattling noise that was both distracting and concerning. The sound was so severe that it caused ear numbness within just a few minutes and made it difficult to concentrate on driving, raising serious safety concerns. Upon arriving home, I immediately contacted the dealership to report the issue but received no positive or constructive response. I reported this matter to Hyundai motor America customer service on April 1, 2025. It has now been almost five months, and they have been unable to resolve the issue and mentioning its cosmetics defect. Therefore, I am reaching out to you to address this safety concern and request that precautionary action be taken against Hyundai motor America, USA. The noise and vibration are so extreme that ear numbness occurs within 2–3 minutes of driving, making the vehicle unsafe to operate and safety concersn. Thanking you. Regards, ajay nagori 210-848-5254.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2025

- component that failed: the panoramic sunroof (glass side that opens) - safety risk: glass shattering above your head while driving, tons of glass falling below to the driver & passengers in the car | shock of a loud gunshot while driving - causes wrecks - vehicle inspected: currently at Hyundai, figuring out what to do - warning signs: abolsutley none - spontaneous explosion my husband, two friends, and I were traveling down the interstate at 55 mph, we heard a loud bang (like the sound of a gunshot)! our panoramic sunroof sunshade was pulled back with the sunroof closed. Instantly, the sunroof exploded into a million tiny pieces of glass that partially rained down on our heads and shoulders and all over the rest of our car. It was quite a startling sound. There was a hole about 10 inches across in the sunroof and more pieces were continuing to fall out. To protect our heads, I closed the sunshade. Then, we could hear pieces hitting the shade and glass falling behind us on the road. Once we got home, the hole became much larger.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2025

The fuel door actuator stopped working. This caused a safety issue because it left me stranded in the desert. I had no way of opening the fuel door to put gas in the vehicle. This model does not have a lever for emergency. The only way to gain access is to take pull the panel inside apart inside the trunk. I had to call my husband to help me. I was 110 miles away from him. This caused a very dangerous unsafe situation.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2025

The contact owned a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact and his family were asleep when they were woken up to a loud abnormal sound coming from the driveaway of the residence. The contact looked outside of the window and discovered that the entire vehicle, the garage door, and the roof was on fire. No warning lights was illuminated. The origin of the fire was unknown. The vehicle was unoccupied during the fire. The fire was extinguished by the fire department and a fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The vehicle remained at the place of residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 48,456.  .

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/23/2024

During the early morning of December 23, 2024, at 2am, the vehicle caught fire in the carport of my house. Upon waking up to the noise, I proceeded to evacuate my family from the house due to the amount of smoke inside. The fire damaged approximately one-third of the house. Prior to this incident, the vehicle showed no defects, and all its services were performed by the same Hyundai dealership workshop where I bought the vehicle.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2024

Dealership tried to fix vehicle multiple times and failed. Would be considered a lemon but is over 3 years old.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2024

While driving down interstate, the panoramic sunroof panel above the driver and front seat passenger spontaneously exploded and shattered. This occurred on a clear sunny morning and there were no other vehicles on the road in the area at the time.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2024

Running lean on bank 1-dealership states it is a bad fuel injector on cylinder 1says it is not covered under 100,000 mile warranty. Vehicle currently at 80,000 mile. Radio in vehicle is restarting itself and not shutting off when car is turned off. Radio does not respond to commands such as volume adjustment. Dealership performed software update, but it did not work.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2024

On 10-11-24 the panoramic sunroof on our car exploded. We were driving at the time at approx 45mph, clear and 60° out, and we heard a loud bang and in looking around for the cause saw the sunroof looked like crackle glass. We closed the sunshade in case it fell on us, and within a minute it did just that. Had we not closed that shade we would have been showered with glass. We did not see any obstacles coming at us and there were no cars around close enough to throw up a rock. After calling our insurance company to start a claim I did some research online while waiting for the adjuster to call. I discovered the class action suit regarding the exploding sunroofs and realized that is what had just happened to us. I then spoke to Hyundai customer service and started an incident report. We were finally able to take the car to a dealer on 10-31-24 and requested the repair be covered under the limited warranty. They eventually agreed to repair it under warranty and we picked the car up on 11-29-24. We were without the use of it for 7 weeks. We knew we would never trust that it wouldn't happen again and that we would need to trade it in. We did just that 3 days later at a different dealership. Of course we lost money on the car. There were no prior warnings with any lights, noises, or anything. No other vehicles or people were involved and no police report or anything was made. Had we been going faster or on a multiple lane road, or had the glass fallen as soon as it exploded, I believe the shock and reaction would have ended in an accident and severe injury to us or others. Pictures are available but they were taken after we cleaned up the mess.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2024

A week ago, I was driving my 2022 Tucson hybrid limited on the highway on my way to work around 7:50 a. M. It was a bright day, good weather. I was in the center lane when my car suddenly braked hard and came to a stop on the highway! my foot was still on the gas pedal, but the automatic emergency braking light was on. I panicked because I had no control over what the car was doing. Thankfully, I was not rear-ended and didn't cause an accident. I put on my hazard lights, shifted into park on the highway's center lane, then back into drive and it seemed fine. There was not really any traffic in front of me that I remember, but there were some cars on either side and behind me that had to swerve around me. I don't trust this car anymore. It is going to get me or someone else killed. I took it to the dealer 2 days ago and the initial inspection didn't show any problems or error codes. They told me I could have it back since there didn't seem to be a problem or they could give me a loaner car and keep testing my car. I have a loaner. I hope they find something wrong with the car, otherwise, I am afraid of my car getting me or someone else killed. I am especially scared after reading about all the others here who have had this same issue.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2024

All my audio stopped working in vehicle. Did a search on this and found out there is a TSB on this problem. The amp stopped working and it affects all safety features. It took me 3 weeks to get an appointment. I feel this is a safety hazard and they need a recall. It only affects certain vins it says and mine is one of them. I’ve read many complaints all they do to “fix” is unplug amp and plug back in. It works for awhile and then it happens again. So the way it’s being fixed is just a bandaid.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2024

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the hybrid powertrain system, transmission, or engine appears to be malfunctioning. The vehicle hesitates or stalls when pressing the gas, losing power as if it doesn’t recognize when to transition between ev and gas mode. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the issue caused the vehicle to lose power unexpectedly, particularly while driving at highway speeds, which forced me to pull over multiple times for safety reasons. This happened on [xxx] before the [xxx] tunnel, creating a hazardous situation in heavy traffic. If the vehicle stalled at the wrong moment—such as in an intersection or while merging—it could significantly increase the risk of a crash. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? no. I have taken the vehicle to a Hyundai dealership, but no official errors or diagnostic trouble codes (dtcs) have been detected. The dealership has not confirmed the issue unless I agree to high-cost diagnostics that may not guarantee a resolution. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? the vehicle has been looked at by a Hyundai dealership, but no official findings or resolutions have been provided. The issue persists, and no recall or technical service bulletin (TSB) has been mentioned to me as a possible cause. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning lights, error messages, or dashboard alerts appeared before or during the power loss. The issue first started occurring at approximately 35,000–40,000 miles and has continued to around 50,000 miles. The first time I noticed the problem was during a long-distance drive from los angeles to CO information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2024

Came to a stop and the car completely stopped shut down. No power couldn't start it at the waiter few while opening the hood and it started back app another time. You get the same thing I opened the hood and it didn't start had to get the car told to the dealership.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

The Tucson hybrid has died on the highway multiple times. Seems to happen on long drives the dealer has not reproduced this yet but my car has been at the shop for over 60 days. Car will stop accelerating even when gas pedal is pressed to the floor. Does not seem to be switching from battery power to gas power. No warning messages. First started in April.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2024

On two occasions, immediately after startup, the vehicle has experienced vastly diminished power. Once in November 2023 and once on April 4, 2024. Both instances were identical. Vehicle could barely move from a stop, even at full throttle. Speed above 25 mph could not be achieved. Rpms exceeded 4500. Vehicle did not stall. No dash lights, warnings or chimes were triggered. Upon shutdown and restart, problem disappeared. Source of failure is unknown. Upon notification, dealer (gossett, memphis TN) offered a diagnostic service for $100 with a two month wait for available appointment. Vehicle has had no other issues. Vehicle is accident-free. Vehicle is unmodified and has received no service beyond scheduled oil changes.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2024

While driving, my vehicle suddenly lost all power and didn't respond to the accelerator. The "check engine" and "hybrid system failure" lights came on, jeopardizing my safety and that of other road users. The car overheats significantly, to the extent that the air conditioning only blows hot air. This situation forced me to pull over on the highway shoulder, creating an additional risk for everyone involved in traffic.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2024

In December, while parking in garage, the vehicle suddenly accelerated causing considerable property damage yesterday, Feb 26,2024 this happened again while parking. The car suddenly accelerated while parking, jumping over the parking curb and into the corner of a building causing major damage to the vehicle. No airbag deployment or forward collision warning in either case.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2024

Turn signals are not working.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

On a clear day in December 2023 the sunroof on my 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid 4d 4wd exploded. There was an incredibly loud bang while driving along hwy 29 outside wausau, wisconsin. I had the inside of the sunshade closed. I pulled over at the next exit. It was a beautiful clear day. I drove back to town to the dealer I purchased the vehicle from. They said they had never heard of this happening. Our insurance agent told my husband she had dealt with the same issue 3 weeks earlier.
