July. 2023: check engine light on ; it came as we were driving on the highway. Acceleration was sluggish due to this issue. Error code indicated that 1 of the 4 engine had issues. Escalated the issue to Hyundai customer service. Issue was resolved during first week of Aug. 2023. Sept. 2023 we were driving on the highway and check engine light came once again. It was late at night. The acceleration was sluggish and managed to drive to a nearby hotel. Contacted Hyundai customer service. 2 out of 4 cylinder had issues (replace rotor, wiring etc. ,). Dropped the car in a Hyundai dealership (urbana, IL). Rented a rental car to drive back to mi. Given the recurring cylinder issue, Hyundai customer service is not willing to accept the issue with engine. 2 out of 4 cylinders had issue. Remaining 2 cylinders may have similar issue. Given the issue, quality of 2022 Hyundai Tucson engine design and build quality is a major issue and risk for customers. Should you be driving in a freeway, acceleration will be sluggish and can cause major accidents.
1) transmission: while driving car jerks. When I’m accelerating from a stop sign or stop light the wheels kind of feel like they’re spinning/shaking and driving over gravel when I accelerate, before it actually starts and shifts gears. Car accelerating but not moving. 2) not safe. Almost hit other cars around and people. 3) dealer confirmed and replacing with new transmission. 4) no warning signs.
On 9/3/23, driver was waiting at a stop sign to turn left. When driver accelerated into the highway, there was no power and the vehicle would only go 5-10 mph. Warning lights came on to check the hybrid system with the hev indicator light. Driver pulled over. Restarted car and engine was stuttering. Was able to drive a few miles to a safer location. Started car on 9/4/23, again it had a rough start. Driver waited until the vehicle sounded normal. The vehicle immediately lost power and could not accelerate when on the main road. Called Hyundai and they were unconcerned. We are in remote alaska, 250 miles from a dealership. Because it happened on a holiday weekend, we have been unable to contact the service department yet. Vehicle is available to be inspected. Safety is a huge risk because the car suddenly stops propelling forward. I'm afraid we will get rear-ended because of the sudden loss of power. It is a danger to ourselves and others. I'm also concerned that we will be stranded because the car has to be stopped when this occurs. We were supposed to be enjoying a trip for a week, and now we don't trust the vehicle and will likely need to go home early and lose hotel costs. This issue will wind up killing someone because there are reports that these Hyundais are stopping in the middle of the highway. Please hold Hyundai accountable.
System failure: powertrain/transmission. Safety: driver is stranded without vehicle four hours from home. Driver and passenger could have been rear-ended when vehicle stalled and slowed. Confirmed and inspected: vehicle was towed at Hyundai's expense to local dealership but cannot be examined for 9 days. Warning: engine light came on and vehicle was immediately parked. Symptoms: the 2022 Hyundai Tucson was purchased new on April 14, 2022, and has only 13,800 miles on it. Early in September 2023 when accelerating, the tachometer went way too high; and the vehicle stalled like it was in neutral. Four times on September 15, 2023, at 60 mph, the vehicle jerked like it was going over rough pavement and fish tailed in the rear end. On September 16, 2023, at 60 mph, the vehicle again acted like it was on rough pavement. When slowed for in-town traffic a few minutes later, the vehicle began jerking and shuddering constantly at around 30 mph and would go no faster. The vehicle was barely able to go up a small incline, and the engine light came on. The vehicle was parked immediately. Today, September 18, 2023, Hyundai customer care towed the vehicle, at its expense, to the closest Hyundai dealer four hours away from where the driver lives. The local dealership cannot look at the vehicle until September 25, 2023, at 2:30 pm. The dealership where the vehicle was purchased refused to tow the vehicle at its expense and would only say "we can't do anything until we look at it. ".
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that there was a delay in the operation of the rearview camera to provide an image while reversing. The contact stated that the rearview camera remained activated temporarily while the vehicle was in drive(d). The contact stated that the infotainment system screen turned off and activated functions unintendedly while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the infotainment system and the rearview camera were replaced twice; however, the failure persisted. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to shift from reverse(r), the gear shifter was sticking and failed to shift to drive(d). The contact was able to shift to drive(d) after several attempts. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The car shook and then lights and alarms went off indicating something went wrong with the hybrid system. The car stopped accelerating, would shake, and then accelerated no more than 10 mph. It was absolutely crazy! luckily, the highway that I was traveling on was not a busy one at the time because all I thought was this could have been a major accident if on a fast moving freeway. I managed to pull over and started reading online about this issue occurring with other customers who purchased the same or similar vehicle. So, I found a post and had shut the car off for 5 minutes, then restart and sit for 10 minutes, and then the car should work. It did! however, during the time of waiting I did reach out to the dealership and they said if the car is working there is nothing they could do. So, I assumed it was safe to use travel to work for a meeting and set up my classroom for the start of the new school year. On my way home from school, the issue happened again. I immediately contacted the dealership and was able to get the car to them. They started running diagnostic tests and currently have the vehicle on hand. However, I don't really feel safe now with this car given the circumstances. What if this should happen again? what if this happens to me or someone else who is traveling on a busy highway and it causes injury or even death to an accident. The engine light came on, battery light flickered on and off, the car shook, the car's hev system warning was going off, etc. Please help and look into this matter. I do not have any documentation of repair as the car currently sits at the dealership, but I was so upset thinking about what could have happened and felt the need to report the issue.
This Tucson limited has 3500 miles on it from purchase last September - 2022. Less than 1/2 mile from home and accelerating to about 35mph the engine lost power where speed reduced to about 20mph, acted like air intake was being choked. Did not see any caution lights on the dash. I coasted for 30 feet - luckily the street had no traffic - and the engine began to operate normally. I continued traveling about 2 miles and it happened again but briefly - still on town roads, continued driving and it happened once again climbing a hill. Made it part way up and power came back. Continued driving to destination another 2 miles, parked the car for about 45 minutes, came back, car started normally, drove home without incident. If this occurred on a busy road or highway I'm sure the trip would have ended in an accident. I believe this is a dangerous fault. Car is in for service now and they say the ecu was updated. Hope that corrected the problem as my wife refuses to drive it without some confidence level improvement.
-there are 3 problems. The 1st and most dangerous, is a combo of the engine, transmission, and fuel system. The 2nd is malfunctioning sensors. The 3rd is water leaking in under my glove box onto the floor mat. The car upon 3 different occasions has stopped accelerating in the middle of traffic. 1st: the car would not go past 30mph and it stuttered/ shook. I parked and turned the car off, but 5 minutes later it reset and ran "normal". The 2nd time in Dec 2022, I was on annapolis rd. (maryland) at about 10pm while alone. It would not accelerate past 35mph, the check engine light came on, and the engine/transmission started shaking and stuttering. I was almost rear ended so I pulled over. The next day when I called the dealership, the car had once again reset itself. The dealer brushed me off, said the cars are so computerized that if they couldn't replicate it they couldn't fix it and said they were backed up on appointments. The 3rd time, the car stopped accelerating on the beltway as I was taking my exit home, almost got rear ended, as I was pulling off the exit and trying to pull over the car started producing white smoke and the smell of gas, the engine control system (1st time of these 3 instances) alerted to shut the car down. The gear shift would not work properly while trying to shut it off. It massively leaked gas out of the vehicle and into the oil/ oil filter. While broken down, multiple cars almost ran into it as it had shut down after a major intersection. The car almost exploded/ caught fire. It was towed to an autobody shop to be inspected as I did not trust the dealership. No repairs were made. Only an oil change and new oil filter. There was a random misfire code. But ran normally once reset. There was no damage that he inspected and called it a lemon. The dealer has the car, and has yet to diagnose it or give me a loaner. All regular maintenance performed and all system checks have come back normal up to this point.
Car intermittently will loose power (shortly after commencement of driving). This will remedy itself by shutting off engine and restarting. This has happened 4 or 5 times within the fist 3,000 miles. This is a vehicle and traffic safety issue that could cause lives!.
Constantly having warning lights on, car jerking into other lanes, emergency braking randomly, brakes went to the floor and car propelled through an intersection.
I am very distracted with this new car. This is the second time this has happened to my brand new Hyundai Tucson phev 2022. I was reversing on a slope, I changed gears to drive, and then suddenly my car got stuck and stayed on neutral for no reason. Can’t turn off the car, or even change gears anymore. This is terrible! please fix my issue Hyundai! the first time this happened was 3 months after I got my car when I was camping and I had to have it towed to the dealership. The Hyundai team said there was nothing wrong and said it wouldn’t happen again. This is the second occurrence now within owning this new car and it hasn’t even been a year yet! this is not safe and on top of everything I ended up blocking up an entire street because the car could not be moved. Not only did I have to spend my time but also my money dealing with these issues. Now I have to deal without a car and I dont feel safe going anywhere with this car. I need this to be fixed ASAP. It is my new car and I shouldnt have to deal with this type of stress. Please help me in getting these issues resolved. I do not feel safe going anywhere with until I know that this won’t happen again. I am well within the power train warranty and well within basic warranty of my car.
My pregnant wife’s 2022 Hyundai Tucson lost engine power while on the interstate with our 16 month toddler in the car. Luckily she was able to get off the interstate and into a safe parking lot. The car only has 23000 miles and has been kept up with Hyundai’s scheduled maintenance from their dealership. The engine is knocking and experiencing rough idle. Once I arrived I was able to read that there was an engine cylinder 2 misfire. About an hour later the “myhyundai” app sent the same error codes. It took the tow truck driver 15 minutes to go 10 feet to the flat bed as the car would turn its self off. Incredibly dangerous for a car less than two years old. I hate that I might’ve gotten my wife and son such a dangerous vehicle.
New 2022 tuscon limited power train stalled, would not accelerate randomly while on the highway in NJ on route 4. Had to get to side of the road and put hazards on as was unable to accelerate past 40mph in a 65mph zone. Once turning off the car, the electrical systems reset. It was crazy I only had the car for 200miles. Thank god it was a leased car. Flash forward it occurred twice before hitting 1k miles. Took it to get serviced and service department had no idea and said nothing was found to be the cause after the second time it stalled. Other incident was around 20k miles gas lock latch broke somehow and couldn't open gas tank to put gas in car. Went to 3 dealerships, 2 couldn't see me without an appointment. Had to get it snapped off then come back to get car serviced which took 2 additional hrs. Unreliable.
Awd warning light illuminated under 20k miles. Took vehicle to dealer, dealer advised that vehicle was unsafe to drive. Unknown eta on parts or repair time. Dealer did advised that it's a warranty issue. Other circumstances surrounding this issue: issue 1 6 weeks ago wife received email from Hyundai indicating vehicle was due for service. Wife took vehicle to dealer, she was turned away and advised that service was required. Issue 2 I phone Hyundai corporate from work where all calls are recorded. Phone system has beeping sound every 30 seconds. Hyundai rep was also advised verbally that calls were recorded. Into the phone call she asked if she was being recorded and I advised her yes. She said that their policy prohibits customers from recording their calls. I asked for copy of that policy that I never received. Issue 3 I then scheduled appointment with same dealership and took time off work. Arrived and was advised internet was down all day and they couldn't service vehicles. Was advised I would receive callback. 3 weeks and never received. Issue 4 approx 6-8 weeks into this issue and revisited dealership. Within 40 minutes they advised me the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Summary it is believed that the vehicle may have been unsafe to drive for many weeks. Where service facility had opportunity to run diag scan, but never did.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact pulled over on the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle operated normally. On another occasion while attempting to reverse out a parking spot, the transmission failed to shift into reverse. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the transmission was replaced. On another occasion while starting the vehicle, the message indicating the hybrid battery failure was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that harness control needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage 60,000.
I bought a ‘22 Tucson hybrid in sept of ‘22. Upon delivery there were issues w paint & a dent on the rear qtr panel. The bigger issue however, is disconnect in communication between the ev motor, gas engine & transmission. All work is done @dealership and well maintained. History of ev over 8 months: @1000 miles noise under vehicle began. Dealership inspected, all checked out. The dealership has done all servicing as scheduled. From 1000 to 12,000 miles, the vehicle drove best if in sport mode. Sport mode utilizes the gas engine and not ev. When in ev modes, the vehicle runs high rpms or it’s sluggish. It’s never consistent. In some instances; the vehicle will actually stall for 2-3 seconds and kick back on. 1 instance was at a stop light, turning left. Mid turn, gas to the floor, the vehicle stalled for 3 seconds before responding. I was almost hit at 50 mph in the intersection as both motors failed me. The next day, 3 lights came an ev, check engine and hybrid motor light came on, 3 total. My Hyundai app stated: issue communicating ev and gas motor, ems communication error. This cleared itself in 36 hrs but I couldn’t drive it safely for a week. I took it to the dealership, everything checked out. 3 days ago @ 17,400 miles, I received a text: Hyundai stated car unfit to drive. Dtc code u062300, u111200, u02bb0:powertrain ems issue. The techs had it 2 days, fixed it. 3 blocks from dealer, check engine light came on again. I returned it to dealer. I’ve found 32 accounts of these codes resulting in a Hyundai buy-back, new engine, new transmission or settlements. I’m told my ev motor, gas engine and transmission won’t communicate even after software / firmware updates & mechanical changes. I don’t feel the vehicle to be roadworthy and I don’t feel safe driving it, if Hyundai has no fix. I’m told, many sales of this model @ my dealer have the same issues. Bad batch? I paid $47k (car & warr) I’m hoping for a buy back or to get into a Toyota hybrid of = value.
When I’m at a dead stop, and start to drive off, there is a jerking at around 13 miles per hour. I believe it is when it is shifting from first into second gear. It happens often, but not all the time. This happened when I first bought my car, and I was told that the car has to get to know me. I thought this was true, because it seemed to have stopped at some point for a while. Now it is doing it again, but more dramatically. The jerking is very obvious. Also there have been about 5 times when the car revs by itself when I am in the 40’s. I am not pressing heaving on the gas, I am just driving, and it sounds like it slipped out of gear for a second and the car is revving, and then it just goes back to normal.
The affected part is the engine and/or power train, the engine light constantly stays on. The acceleration decreases and unable to drive over 40 mph. These parts were inspected by two different car mechanics at Hyundai car dealerships, alexandria, va (April may 2023) and waldorf, MD, (June -July 2023) which they say was the gas cap. After getting a diagnostic the reading was p0 301. On August 22,2023 at 9:30am took the car to mechanical service at Hyundai in waldorf, MD they concluded it was the gas cap, again, today the engine is on again.
Sudden loss of power and speed on freeway traveling at 75 mph almost caused a rear end collision by tailgating semi. Pulled over onto shoulder with engine shaking and bucking and luckily limped off nearby exit. Engine control system error popped up. Engine would barely start and stall quickly and eventually would not restart at all. This is the cars second sudden power loss and engine problem at speed since. Not acceptable for a brand new car.
While driving on the freeway, suddenly lost power while driving 60 mph and was unable to accelerate. Almost avoided an accident, while trying to merge to the shoulder of the road, while the car just puttering. While on the shoulder, the check engine light came on. Unable to drive and had to get towed.
I was driving on the highway with my acc (adaptive cruise control) and lane keeping assistance on. Suddenly, I heard a loud noise from the engine. My vehicle was slowing down and was not able to accelerate. As I was pulling my vehicle on the side of the road, I saw oil warning light and check engine light on at the dashboard.
The vehicle is currently at the dealership. I purchased the 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid limited in April. Have gotten my oil changes done religiously at the dealership. Vehicle is at 22k miles. And had oil change 5 days prior to incident. I was on the way to work and vehicle started to struggle to accelerate, engine began malfunctioning. Vehicle dropped drastically from 80mph dow to 25-30 mph in short period of time, would have been rear ended if not in right lane already. No warning or previous problems. No warning or check engine lights ever came on before the vehicle would not drive at all. And was told by the vehicle to “check hybrid system stop safely”. Called roadside and vehicle was towed to dealership. They diagnosed as “the timing chain was ‘missing’ one of the cylinders, causing a loss of power from the gasoline engine and the hybrid system attempted to compensate for lost power, resulting in engine failure” later that day when I arrived from work to get a loaner I was told that it was a broken camshaft and warranty would pay for a new engine. ”.
Three incidents of shifting from park to drive or reverse and car does not move in the drive or reverse. Turning phev car off seems to reset it. Third time car had a high pitch whine and trying to move in reverse caused a strong shudder and check engine light to come on. Diagnostic code for power train p072200. Turned car off and drove a few hours later and seemed to be back to normal. Dtc cleared after a few days. Dealer unable to check for a month. Have dashcam footage of last incident.
First occurrence was on 6jan23 when the vehicle was being driven and it suddenly and quickly reduced speed to under 30mph. Vehicle then continued to go up in rpms to nearly 4,000 but the car felt like the transmission was not engaged and driving in neutral then would engage and disengage, causing fluctuations in speed, but never above 30-35 mph. This continued to happen until we could pull over safely and turn off the vehicle and restart. No engine light or warnings illuminated. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic and nothing was found. Second occurrence was 01arp23, with exactly the same results. In doing some research I have found several other complaints with this issue. This is a serious accident waiting to happen.
Driving the car acceleration will go to zero. You can floor it and it will only go to 20mph. The car asked you to pull over safely. They hybrid battery is at zero and warning signs keep flashing. Has happened over three times on a new car. Dealership can’t figure it out. When I look up “hev warning Tucson hybrid” there are many with same issue. Very, very dangerous issue.
On three separate occasions the vehicle refused to accelerate after being in a stop and go mode (I. E. Traffic/drive thru). All three times an alert popped up on the dashboard stating: hev check hybrid system stop safely. The second time this occurred a diagnostic code came dtcp112000. In all three occasions turning the car off and restarting resolved the issue at least temporarily. Also- the battery was completely depleted after each incident. Vehicle is at the dealership service center for the second time without and current diagnosis or solution.
Within only two weeks of purchase this new car would suddenly stall in the middle of the road. The computer tells you to pull over. We continued to try and get the dealer to fix this issue, they first ignored us, then they secondly tried and successfully replicated the issue. They said there is no way they can fix the issue. This dangerous stalling in the middle of the road happened numerous times. You will push the pedal all the way to the ground and it won’t go over 20mph. This is a very dangerous issue and these vehicles need to stop being sold. It is very dangerous. We have been left without our money back and without a car to drive for months. We cannot drive the Tucson as it is simply too dangerous and must be towed to go anywhere for salvage.
While accelerating on an on ramp leading to the interstate, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson phev limited was in the Smart drive mode and the vehicle was in electric mode only being powered by the electric motor. I noticed that the vehicle was struggling to accelerate to the interstate speed of 70 mph, I pressed the accelerator further in order to gain more speed to safely merge onto the interstate. With the accelerator pushed all the way, the engine eventually turned on after 5-7 seconds assisting the vehicle to reach the speed of 70 mph. Once on the interstate, I set the cruise control to 70 mph but the vehicle was not able to maintain that speed. The speed of the Tucson started to drop suddenly and I then began to make my way to the right shoulder of the interstate. During the process of moving to the right shoulder, I did notice that the power gauge on the instrument cluster was maxed out, the vehicles engine was running at at very high revs, but I was never able to get more speed out of the vehicle. The vehicle was slowed to 40-45 mph by the time I was able to reach the shoulder due to traffic. Once on the shoulder and out of the 3 lane, 70 mph traffic, I was able to power down the vehicle and restart the vehicle with no issues. I then put the vehicle in drive and signaled to the left in order to merge back into traffic. I accelerated briskly to merge with the 70 mph traffic and the vehicle did operate as normal. The vehicle began to move under ev power and the engine did turn on to begin assisting in moving the vehicle up to speed. The vehicle operated normally for the remainder of my drive, approximately 3-4 miles. During this event, the vehicle never did display any warning lights or messages on the instrument panel or the center screen. No warning tones or chimes were given either. The high voltage battery was at an approximately 68% state of charge and the fuel tank was approximately half full.
When driving my car at any speed it will suddenly begin to get sluggish then it becomes unresponsive to me giving it gas and starts to decelerate. When this happens suddenly warning signs on the vehicle go off stating to check the hybrid system and stop the vehicle. When this happens the car then stops functioning. I never know when it is gonna happen. I have been in the middle of heavy traffic and at high speeds stuck in the middle of the road. I have brought it in now four times to different dealerships and contacted corporate and no one can find a problem. I have pictures of the warning signs going off, all I am being told is we don’t find anything wrong when they run their test or try to reproduce the issue, so they can’t help me. This is a very serious and dangerous situation to be driving a car that has and will stall at any given time.
Initial incident happened in June 2022; car under 5k miles. When slowing down at a light, car suddenly started to shake and engine would shut off. Dashboard warning indicated place in neutral and start car again. After restart, car would still turn off, unable to move or shift gears without shutting down. After keeping engine off for a few minutes, car was driveable again but a sound coming from engine when in d while at a light. Brought to dealership in woodbridge, va but was told they were unable to replicate incident. 2nd incident occurred in October 29, 2022. At a light, car was going to auto shut off while at light but then lurched, shook violently and engine shut off. The dashboard said place in neutral and turn engine on. Was able to move car after a few attempts and move to safe area. Let car rest for a few hours. When driving, and slowing down at a light, car would shake; I would place in neutral and car will settle. Any time at a light, it has to be in neutral or else engine will die. Brought to dealership, added 15miles but unable to replicate. Nov 3rd, car began to lurch when at speed of 40 - 45. After stopping at a light, car would not accelarate, engine revving but little movement. Had to pull over and turn engine off. Nov 5th, while on highway vehicle began to lurch at 55-60mph, engine was at 4rpm, engine struggling but speed not increasing. Since on a downhill, car was moving but engine revving; speed not accelerating. Had to merge to shoulder; shut car off 2x and restart before car drove without incident. Videos of dashboard were taken during incidents in October and November.
I was leaving a drive-through. Crossing traffic when my 2022 tuscan n-line just stopped accelerating the engine started to shake and SUV became unresponsive. As I was crossing traffic. I was almost hit. Moved the SUV to the middle of the street. Turned the SUV off. Restarted it. The SUV had no power and the check engine light came on. The engine started shaking violently. A bad burning smell ( like) burning rubber/ plastic started, then the engine started to smoke. I turned the SUV off again. After that the SUV wouldn’t start. Had it towed to the dealer. It only has 1130 miles on it. I just bought it July 20th.
It’s not even an year I bought a 2022 Hyundai Tucson sel (convenience package). I started getting couple of issues. 1. I noticed that gears aren’t shifting smoothly and always ends whining between gear shifts. 2. Soundsystem started giving trouble since a week with unclear/distortion noises while playing music. I tried connecting via cable/bluetooth and changed to fm/usb but still the same. Worst experience for me. I hope Hyundai will help me by fixing the car.
Purchased new 2022 Hyundai Tucson plug in hybrid in December 2021. In April 2022 the vehicle with 5500 miles experienced loud transmission bangs and lost ability to change gears. Vehicle then stuck in neutral in driveway unable to select drive or reverse. Had vehicle towed to dealership. Once at dealer, mechanic unable to replicate problem but was able to pull up trouble code history. Mechanic was told by Hyundai corporate technicians to reset the transmission to fix problem. Fast forward to July 21, 2022, vehicle started to flash several warning indicators on dash including forward collision assist, no left turn signal and check engine light and transmission once again stuck in gear unable to select drive or reverse( approx. 9000miles) upon disconnect of vehicle battery was able to get vehicle into gear to remove from garage. All warning lights remained on vehicle for 4 weeks before I was able to get a service appointment to fix problem. At dealer on August 16, 2022, check engine light reset prior to arrival, once again dealer unable to replicate problem and was told to return if vehicle exhibited issue again. August 22, 2022, upon leaving driveway and while in drive the vehicle just stopped in middle of roadway. Once again stuck in neutral and all warning lights once again lit up. Vehicle pushed to side of road to get out of roadway. Upon starting the vehicle several times and turning off vehicle, finally was able to switch into gear. Roadside assistance was called to tow vehicle to dealership, where once again no loaner cars were available. The vehicle has exhibited lack of power on several occasions as well. Specifically when going up a graded road. On one occasion vehicle would not go over 10mph. The fact that the vehicle died in the middle of the road while under operation is a huge safety concern as if I were on a freeway or expressway and it just stopped it could have been catastrophic. Please look into this issue before someone gets seriously hurt.
My vehicle that I finance is a 2022 hybrid Tucson it failed at 14,596 miles I had it since November 2021 so for a good 9 months until it decided to finally malfunction. As I been driving it previously for the past month I’ve been hearing the transmission struggle a lot more everyday that I use it. I also noticed that the engine really lacks power, when I accelerate it takes a really long time for the gears to shift which has been getting worse for the past month now. Which is what I believe led up to my vehicle losing complete engine power while I was driving 30mph. I saw on my digital cluster a message saying “check hybrid system, stop the car safely. ” in an orange triangle, I had cars backed up close to me and I was confused as to why this was happening to my not even a year old vehicle. This is a major safety issue to me that while I’m driving anywhere my engine will go completely off and I am only to rely on 20mph on ev mode. If I was on the freeway I could’ve gotten into an accident and with my whole family in the car. I personally feel unsafe driving, it’s my daily driver and my only way to get to work.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 40-50 mph, the transmission was shifting hard, and was upshifting and downshifting independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the manufacturer sent a field technician who could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer then informed the contact that the vehicle was not experiencing a failure. The contact also stated that while driving 50 mph, the forward collision avoidance automatic emergency braking system engaged while there was no vehicles or objects around. The contact stated that the depressed the brake pedal to reset the vehicle, then he depressed the accelerator pedal and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The contact stated that he was driving with adaptive cruise control mode engaged. The contact stated that while changing lanes, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated that he disengaged the acc and depressed the accelerator pedal to drive at highway speeds. The contact stated that the failure recurred on another occasion, then the vehicle independently accelerated to 80 mph temporarily. The contact stated that while driving uphill and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 670. The VIN was unavailable.
