There has been an urgent safety recall with no fix for 4 months. I need the issue to be resolved so that my vehicle is no longer a safety hazard, but both the dealership I purchased it from and the manufacturer have stated that it's not a big deal.
I am reporting a repeated brake system issue on my 2024 Hyundai Tucson involving premature rotor warping and brake failure at very low mileage. On April 30, 2025 (11,007 miles), I first noticed significant vibration and shaking when braking. On may 29, 2025, colonial Hyundai diagnosed the issue and resurfaced the brakes under warranty (Hyundai case #40826529). The issue persisted immediately after repair, and on June 13, 2025, I was informed that both front and rear brakes and rotors needed replacement. On June 19, 2025, all brakes and rotors were replaced under warranty, resolving the issue temporarily. Less than 8 months later, on February 12, 2026 (under 10,000 additional miles), the same braking vibration returned. The original dealer attributed the issue to driving behavior. At Hyundai’s direction, I sought a second opinion on February 26, 2026 at piazza Hyundai of west chester. They confirmed that the brakes and rotors again required replacement and indicated this was unusual for such low mileage. On March 16, 2026, despite the dealer’s findings, Hyundai corporate declined to cover the repair under warranty. This vehicle has now required three brake-related repairs within a short period and low mileage, including resurfacing and full rotor replacement, followed by another failure. This pattern suggests a potential defect in the braking system, materials, or related components, rather than normal wear. Component/system failed: the failure involves the braking system, specifically repeated warping/failure of front and rear brake rotors and premature brake wear. The vehicle and components are available for inspection upon request. When braking, the vehicle experiences significant vibration and shaking in the steering wheel and chassis, which affects braking smoothness and control. This condition can reduce driver confidence, increase stopping distance, and may lead to loss of control during braking, particularly at highway speeds or in emergency stop.
Driving to work, going into a turn with no obstructions my car frequently alerts to a "collision warning" that is not there. Additionally, I have been driving on the highway, with no obstructions in front of me and my car emergency brake despite an emergency not being present. In both instances, it is extremely distracting and induces anxiety as I am alerted of a threat that is not there. Further at highway speeds (65-70 mph) on the highway, and braking despite having no emergency nearly caused an accident. I was able to push further down on the gas to force the car to keep going to not stop on the highway. The collision warning has been an issue since purchase of the car in June 2024, the emergency brake occurred in February 2026.
I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car.
The same incident has occurred 4 times ( [xxx] while driving on the freeway in light traffic and no vehicles in front. The forward collision sensor triggered dropping the vehicle in speed approx 30 mph almost instantaneously. This is san diego so no snow, rain or sleet and we were driving eastbound each time with the sun at our back. Hyundai kept the car for a week for diagnostics and found nothing. We have since escalated to corporate and are going in for another round of diagnostics. We have been exceptionally fortunate that we were not rear-ended. We have since installed a dash-cam to record the next event information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
At high speeds above 40 mph vehicle automatically brakes with no vehicle or objects in front while vehicle is in operation. Very concerning when driving on interstate.
All of a sudden my 2024 Tucson gages indicated emergency braking for about 1 to 3 seconds and the front end went down as though I was stopping (scared me ). I was so happy no one was behind me. No one really behind me or to my left. Only one car to the right of me in another lane. Also, had to replace air bag at 6176 miles.
My car automatically braked in the middle of an intersection and caused my vehicle to be rear-ended. This was the third time automatic braking engaged when it should not have been. In the most recent incident on 30jan2025 I was injured and had to have medical attention. I googled automatic braking and there were many reports of automatic braking being deployed when it should not have been.
While sitting in stopped traffic on the interstate in the dark in the rain on 11/25/2024 my car was in drive; my foot was on the brake. Twice the car rolled away despite my attempts to brake or put the car in park (I shoved the shifter into park and the car continued to roll). I rolled into the back of a semi because I could not get my vehicle to stop. This had already been noted as a problem with 2024 Tucsons, yet your search engine tells me there are 0 unrepaired recalls for my car. I want to call this out as an unrepaired recall. I have left it with the Hyundai dealer at the moment. They tell me if they cannot make the problem happen for them they won't do anything to fix my car. This is a dangerous situation for me and for anyone with a Tucson that may have the same problem.
Two incidents while driving on the highway. 1. Emergency braking activated on its own. No cars around me. It was a rural area. The red emergency braking activated light showed up and my car braked but resumed driving. This is a new car with less than 4k miles on it. 2. The hands free assist and cruise control were activated. My care swerved to the right abruptly. My hands were on the wheel and I was able to correct this but this is very concerning as my daughter drives this car on mountain roads when she is going to college. I have read online reports when others driving the same make, model and year vehicle.
While driving in light traffic, speed at 45 mph, my Tucson alerted me with a beep, steering wheel vibrated and a red alert on the dash was present for about 3 seconds then the speed automatically slows down to 15 mph all on its own while my foot is still on the accelerator. This has occurred at a minimum 6 times. I purchased this vehicle brand new and driving it off the lot it had 22 miles on it. I've taken it to a Hyundai dealership, and they can't figure out what it wrong with it. I feel very unsafe and unhappy now of this major safety concern. This has high probability of getting rear ended. I see that this has been occurring with various years of Hyundai and am wondering why there has not been a recall on this issue. I owned a Hyundai prior to this 2024 (tucson 2011) and it was wonderful. This is highly concerning for me, and I am not confidant driving this vehicle and will more than likely trade it in for another vehicle. Can someone please research this issue with the automatic emergency brake system. This can autonomously go off whether you are in traffic, highway, street or completely zero vehicles or pedestrians around.
Sudden hard breaking for no reason. It's happened 3 times when in cruise control. If a car had been close behind it would have caused a wreck. I've had the vehicle just over a month.
My Tucson is applying automatic emergency break without a reason. It happened to me 3 times in a week with my Tucson hybrid 2024 nline, it was scary and I was on freeway at 70+mph and couldn't capture the warning as it popped out for only 3 sec. I see no cars around when this happened and when I checked few forums I see this as a common problem in Hyundai vehicles in recent times and feeling scared. I was lucky enough last week as there is not vehicle behind me when breaks applied automatically.
The Hyundai I just purchased was packaged with both carpeted and rubber mats. Both were priced and charged separately on the Hyundai window sticker. The car cannot be bought without paying for both. It is well known that driving with rubber mats over carpet mats creates a serious safety hazard that will can lead to the mat slipping and the driver losing control over speed and braking. I contacted Hyundai to warn of the safety issue and request a refund for one of the mat types. They basically told me to get lost. I think a safety violation should be issued against Hyundai. I fear someone will get killed because they use both mats in the car since they paid for both.
I brought my vehicle in to allstar Hyundai in baton rouge about a month after purchasing it. I told the service manager my brakes are squealing through out the day. He drove it nothing. He stated it is because of moisture. Not true. Squealing brakes means the brakes will go out. They refused to change them out. It has continued to happen multiple times each and everyday. I would love to have this reported. I have owned previous Hyundai vehicle and others never ever had this problem,. I am going back for an oil change and will once again state 1) I am not stupid2) this should not be happening3) I have spoken to other mechanics and they all stated it is a brake malfunction. What is my next step if they refuse? it always happened when applying brakes at stop signs/lights at speed limits.
I was driving home on christmas day 2023 in my 4 month old 2024 Hyundai Tucson hybrid. An hour into my 4 hour drive my car began making a low whump whump sound. No alerts or alarms came on my display to indicate anything was wrong. The noise was off and on for a couple miles. Suddenly my emergency brakes slammed on, my dash went red and the alarms went off. No one was in front of or around me. Had someone been behind me I would have been rear-ended. This was while I was going approximately 75-80. It could have caused a massive wreck had the freeway been congested. The noise went away after that and I made the rest of my trip without incident. The dealer said they couldn't replicate it and the analysis showed nothing was wrong so there is nothing they can do. I have found web forums and a reddit thread with numerous people complaining about the exact same issue with their newer Hyundais. So far a lemon lawyer seems to be the only recourse.
