Warnings problems of the 2024 Hyundai Tucson

Driving 70 on the interstate without any cars in front or side of me and car auto hard braked down to 60 and red emergency brake light was on. An 18 wheeler was behind me. Luckily no injuries or accidents happened.

As I am driving on the garden state parkway on sunny days and rainy days at approx 70-75 mph the emergency braking system notification activated on the dashboard in red, a noise activates and the car feels like it is going to stop short. This seems to occur about one and a half hours into my ride there are no cars in front of me or directly next to me. This occurs randomly and has happened seven or eight times since I leased the car in December 2024. It is very scary and the service techs at the dealership where I leased it cannot duplicate the occurrence because it is random. I feel unsafe driving the car because I am afraid at some point the car may stop on the highway. As it is now it feels like it is going to stop because it slows down.

My wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in June.   since February 28, 2025 the srs indicator lights have come on twice. Hyundai replaced the airbag twice.   in March, the emergency brake system red lights illuminated, and the car came to an abrupt stop.   luckily, there were  no cars behind me.   seconds later, the car resumed, and the lights disappeared. Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again.   no cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate.   the car has less than 8000 miles.  I won’t allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone.  it’s unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car.   I will send attachments of invoices, NHTSA complaints and Hyundai manual info about unsafe condition.  .

It happened again. While traveling at highway speeds behind a slow poke, 2 cars passed me on either side at nearly the same time. This caused the auto braking system to activate, abruptly slowing my car for now reason. Luckily no one was tailgating me at the time. This is the 4th time the car has braked for no good reason on the highway (see previous reports) and the 2nd time when 2 cars passed on either side at the same time. This is clearly a software bug that needs to be fixed!.

From the first day of purchase last June 2024, the front collision warning and avoidance system does not perform as advertised. If a vehicle cuts you off or you approach a vehicle too quickly the warning and braking do not intercede. I’ve taken the car to our local deal 3 times and they have found no trouble codes and say there is nothing they can do. I was also told by the service department manager “that they are all like that”. As a reference, we owned a 2019 kia sorrento for 140,000 miles and that collision avoidance system worked perfectly. I also contacted hyundia national service and they simply sent me back to the dealer. Lastly, I submitted a lemon law request that was rejected by hyundia.

The forward collision avoidance system made me have accident. I was driving on the expressway, the forward collision made the car stop abruptly, then accelerate. As I was veering to the right, the car stopped again in the middle of the expressway causing me to have an accident. This is unacceptable and very unsafe. This vehicle is not safe to drive with the collision warnings.
