On 5/14/2026, while driving southbound on I-95 with my pregnant wife and young daughter, my 2025 Hyundai Tucson (approx. 7,500 miles, purchased new 10/2025) experienced multiple critical safety failures. Two days prior, the heads-up display (hud) intermittently failed to activate. On 5/14, traveling at 65-70 mph near [xxx] , the brakes auto-applied without driver input. Simultaneously, the instrument cluster and hud went completely black, eliminating all speed and vehicle status information. This recurred intermittently. Near [xxx] , the brakes auto-applied with full force, locking all four tires and bringing the vehicle from approx. 70 mph to a complete stop on the active interstate. Two trailing vehicles spun out and left the travel lane to avoid rear-ending us. A multi-car pileup was narrowly avoided. The vehicle was taken to pearson Hyundai in midlothian, va. They diagnosed and replaced a faulty wiring harness. Immediately after the repair, driving northbound on I-95 back to [xxx] (5/16), the lane keep assist/lane departure system began pulling the steering wheel into the adjacent lane without driver input, repeatedly and unpredictably at highway speed. The dealer repair did not resolve the all defects. Within a three days this vehicle exhibited: (1) total instrument cluster/hud failure, (2) uncommanded emergency braking at 70 mph causing two other vehicles to take evasive action (3) uncommanded steering input into an adjacent lane. These failures created immediate risk of serious injury or death. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The cars speedometer screen and radio screen go black and sometimes flicker on and off. This makes it impossible to see the speed. Also the car stalls sometimes when this happens in traffic. The autonomous braking applies the brakes even when there is a large distance from other cars and objects to the point where it has almost caused me to get into an accident on numerous occasions. The driver attention alert comes on and off over and over again even though I’m fully focused on driving and well aware of what is going on and this sometimes happens in a sequence where all of the warning lights illuminate on dash. Sometimes all of the warning lights display on cluster after it goes black and then car says to shift to park when display goes back on causing safety concerns for me in traffic. In addition my sunroof glass is making a loud noise like it’s going to crack.
The car was backing out of a driveway in reverse. Came to a stop to shift to drive, and recieved a "shift system malfunction! service immediately" screen message and the car was locked in the middle of the roadway unable to be put into any gear or be turned off. It was a huge roadway safety issue. The tow driver had to search for a code or sequence of commands to put it into neutral to be able to be safely lifted onto the tow bed, and the vehicle was stuck in accessory mode, which effectively drained the battery.
The display screen for the instrument cluster goes off for 3 seconds every 1 or 2 minutes. It leaves me without a speedometer, side safety cameras, or vehicle information.
Vehicle began flashing check driver assistance for rear sensors repeatedly while traveling out of state on March 30th with an occasional flash of check awd/4wd. On March 31st the vehicle flashed the warnings along with a variety of others flashing on the infotainment screen rapidly and shut off while driving. I was barely able to restart to get it safely into a parking lot before it shut down completely without restarting. The vehicle was towed to the Hyundai dealership that it was purchased from. The diagnostics show electrical and safety systems issues. The dealership and Hyundai USA has been less than transparent regarding a repair plan and potential completion date. It is currently April 21st with no end in sight. The vehicle feels completely unsafe to me and I regret the purchase wholeheartedly.
Vehicle has failed to start with no warning lights (completely blank infotainment screen) and no sounds when start button is pressed. Vehicle also completely shuts down when stopping in traffic and takes several attempts at restarting before the vehicle actually starts and able to move. This is a severe life threatening or serios injury situation that Hyundai seems to have no interest in solving. Incidents have been video when safety is not an issue.
When operating will screen goes blank abd indicated “lost signal” during this time no speed indication. On Hyundai forum there are many who are having same problem.
The car keeps randomly dying. Completely loses power even when driving.
Vehicle dash intermittently goes out. Flickers, goes dark, or shows every warning that exists on the panel. Could be unsafe as speed, gas gage, or other warnings that provide safety are going dark. Took it to dealer in roseville, CA. They tried to repair it, but problem began to occur again a week later. I have a video of it, but can’t show here.
Issue type: intermittent electronic system failure / critical safety hazard description of incident: a severe safety-related incident occurred while driving at night on 12/29/2025, at approximately 5:48 pm. Under fully dark winter conditions in MA, while the vehicle was in motion with the headlights set to auto, the following events occurred: total system blackout: all interior and exterior lighting systems suddenly failed simultaneously, including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and backlighting for all illuminated buttons and controls. The complete failure of exterior lighting and interior displays resulted in an immediate loss of forward visibility and access to critical driving information. Duration: the blackout lasted approximately two seconds before the system appeared to reboot. Recurrence: approximately ten seconds after the first incident, the same total blackout occurred again under identical conditions. Vehicle status: the engine remained running throughout the incidents; however, the simultaneous loss of lighting and instrumentation created an extremely high-risk driving situation. This incident constitutes a critical safety failure. The vehicle had experienced repeated electrical system failures prior to this incident, and was previously presented to the dealer on 8/7/2025 for diagnosis and repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction and failed to take appropriate corrective action to address these issues: 07/13/2025: the auto stop function became inactive, and the vehicle failed to accelerate properly after stopping at traffic lights, creating a hazardous driving condition. 07/14/2025: the phone failed to connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system. 07/17/2025: while reversing in a parking lot, the parking collision warning system failed to detect a moving vehicle behind the car. No audible or visual warning was issued, rendering the safety feature ineffective in preventing a potential collision.
During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°f using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from hvac ducting routed through the center console to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear hvac duct and considered the condition “normal. ” no repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai consumer affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.
Dec 24, 2025 I started my and went a very short distance down the road, my entire dash display went completely black. It stayed this way for about 5 to 10 minutes and I pulled over and turnd the car off and back on, pretty scary.
The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.
Once entire display screen including entertainment display and dashboard display went black/ turned off while driving. It came back on within a few seconds. Once dashboard display (without entertainment) went black/ turned off while driving. Last a few seconds.
I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I have observed 6+ incidents when my instrument cluster went blank and rebooted in the middle of the road while the vehicle is moving. This seems to be widespread issue with no resolution from Hyundai what so ever. I have raised this issue with Hyundai as well.
Bought new, less that 400 miles in November 2025. Within 2 weeks dash board went blank/black. I consider this a driving distraction especially at night when nothing shows, no speed no gauges. Blackout time varies each occasion. Sometimes after a few seconds all warning light come on and stay on until vehicle shut off . Sometimes a no gignal message. Contiued after service visit with update to vehicle at about 7300 miles in January 2026. Service department acted like they have never heard of this issue.
2 times, while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle automatically slammed hard on brakes to full stop without any danger or other vehicle near, causing neck pain/whip lash. 3 days ago, I attempted a u-turn in busy intersection, suddenly the vehicle braked hard and came to full stop without any danger near. The dash lights lit up, the vehicle stalled. I was in middle of very busy intersection. It would not move forward. I reversed just in time to miss being slammed into by fast moving oncoming traffic.
Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? hvac heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from minneapolis to warroad, mn frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well only, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) brand new SUV consistently 1. 5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is not a software issue rather an hvac air exchange issue. (3) the gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between bemidji, mn and baudette, mn (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the eon. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: xxx[xxx] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should not be sold in minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk? if I run out of gas, my passengers and I risk frost bite or fatality of hypothermia. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer service center? yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer? yes. Were there any warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning messages have ever appeared. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Blindspot detection did not pick up car on my right side two times. Front collision warning is effected by the angle of the sun at certain times of the day. Dashboard dims randomly. Could be for a minute or much longer. Could dim on and off, or stay dimmed for over twenty minutes. Brought the car in twice for this problem. Claimed nothing found and tech reset the codes. Bought it in two weeks later, stating problem not fixed. Told them to check connection, suggested they might want to replace the cables, and its a known problem. Again, reset the codes. Only this time they fiddled with the dimmer control on the console and I can no longer adjust the setting.
The faws forward assistance warning system incorrectly identifies a "sleepy driver" and turns off adaptive cruise control. Faws has a dozen triggers that will cause this system to incorrectly alert the driver that his eyes aren't looking at the road and it turns off acc. The faws has a turn off switch but it does not turn it off. So, without this safety feature of adaptive cruise control, the driver just gets constant alerts to stay alert. Hyundai claims it is working "as designed" and has a suggestion to invest in specific sunglasses, or not be taller than 6'1" so the eyes can be detected, or don't wear a hat. Seriously, these are in the manual.
In October 2025, the center display screen in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid began shutting off repeatedly while the vehicle was in motion. The screen controls essential functions including speed information, navigation, backup camera, safety alerts, and hybrid system data. When it shuts off, all of these features become unavailable without warning. The failure is intermittent and continues to reoccur. The component involved is the center display/infotainment system and may affect related radar and safety-system warnings. The dealer stated they duplicated the issue and reported that it was repaired, but the same display failure occurred again afterward while I was driving. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when the screen shuts off, I lose access to critical vehicle information. This has happened at highway speeds, including one instance where the display shut off approximately eight times within 20 minutes. In addition, the radar warning system has activated when no nearby vehicles were present, creating distraction and uncertainty. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership, documented by me on video, and reported to the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Hyundai service center and reviewed by the manufacturer’s customer service department. There have been no police or insurance inspections because the defect has not resulted in a crash, though the safety risk is significant. Warning symptoms include intermittent radar system alerts appearing without surrounding traffic. These symptoms began in October 2025 and have continued even after dealer repairs. The display failure persists and the vehicle remains unsafe to operate. P. S. I cannot upload video evidence as the website would not allow me and I have to start over.
Vehicle propulsion system failed, as a result vehicle rolled down an inclined driveway in to the street and was stuck in the middle on the street in traffic. Vehicle had started normally, was able to shift into drive, no obvious warning lights or error messages displayed. Vehicle would shift into drive/park/reverse as required but would not move. Upon shutdown an restart two warning lights were display but vehicle would still not move. Vehicle only had 168 miles on the odometer. Vehicle is a hybrid, engine was running and battery charged. Apparently the problem was a failed "over the air software update", this was corrected by dealer (see attached file). Safety issue is that the vehicle, 1 failed to display any error regarding a failed update, 2 failed to immobilize the vehicle allowing to move in an unsafe state, 3 failed to notify owner that updates had been done, 4 proceeded with an over thew air update that could potentially place the vehicle in an unsafe state.
Approximate date 10/7/2025. Driving 20mph clear daylight sunny conditions in right lane, another vehicle in left lane put on right blinker to merge in front of me into my lane. The merging vehicle was 3 car lengths ahead and had plenty of space to merge. Merging vehicle was only half way into right lane when without touching the brakes and no warning alarm the wheels locked up completely, skidding to a complete stop, almost got rear ended. 2 days later on 10/9/2025 same weather conditions while driving on highway the traffic was stop and go,speed 40mph. A vehicle ahead of me applied their brakes,no imminent threat, I placed my foot on brake pedal as a precaution, then brakes locked up so I pumped brakes thinking what else could I do? this did nothing, brakes remained locked until vehicle stopped. Almost got rear ended again. I can’t remember if any audible alarm or dash warning. These were the only 2 incidents with braking failure. Hyundai dealer booked appointment but they could not find any issues with the braking system on 10/2025. Mechanic could not reproduce braking issue. When I picked up vehicle I spoke to the mechanic. He said “ if the braking issue occurs again please make another appointment. The salesman who I purchased the vehicle said “shut off the warning system”. Which I declined his offer. Thank you!.
All warning lights illuminate and the dashboard showing the speedometer shuts off while driving as well as the heads up display. You have no idea how fast you are going or if you are have any warning lights.
My instrument cluster goes off/on intermittently causing a safety issue (I'm unable to see how fast I'm driving etc). The problem has happened to me everyday for the last 1. 5 weeks, however the dealer has had the car for a week now and claims they can't replicate the issue to get the code to order the part (I have filed a complaint with Hyundai). I want to go on record as this is not a recall with Hyundai yet, but I am aware it is a well known problem with 2025 Hyundai Tucson's according to a north America facebook page I belong to where we discuss various topics (positive and negative) regarding our cars.
My vehicle was purchased new and has less than 5100 miles on it. The screen and heads-up display randomly begin to glitch and then simply go dark. I can't see my speed, fuel or charge levels or any important data while driving. This has happened multiple times already. My vehicle is a 2025 model. Interestingly, Hyundai had the same type issue on 2024 models and issued a TSB to resolve this issue, but have not issued any repair for the 2025 models. This is a major safety issue.
The backup camera is not working and theres a glitch on the screen when on reverse gear. In addition the adaptive cruise control is not working 8-9 out of ten times.
I was driving the vehicle at 30 mph when the power to the instrument cluster, infotainment center and headlights went out for approximately 1-2 seconds before recovering. Engine maintained power and acceleration during this period. During blackout I was unable to view speedometer nor other instrument information.
I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" aka dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "no signal". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on facebook ("Hyundai owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.
To be honest, this could have been happening for months and I just didn’t pick up on it. I typically look out the front window and use my heads-up display. I’m very rarely looking at the gauges while I’m driving down the street so this just happens to be when I began to notice it. 9-4-25 near 4 pm left side screen where gauges are located blackout -it didn’t last long, but it did frighten me and then it did it again and the second time it did like a restart because it came up with the ready to drive message 9-6-25 10:40am left side of screen black out 9–16–25 7:13 am. Left side screen where gauges are located blackout a second time at 7:12 pm 9-18/25 4:45 pm left side of screen black out 9-20 -15 10:45 am left side screen where gauges are located blacked out 11:24 am all gauges lit up on dashboard I don’t even know all these signs. These are the ones I recognize battery, brake, auto hold, ready, number of caution signs, airbag sign, afs, abs epb (image uploaded showing the car in drive) I turned off the vehicle. The lights remained on restarting the car made no difference. The next day car started normal no access dash lights took the car to the dealership on sept. 23, when I made the appointment, they acted like they had never heard of this happening . . . However when they called to discuss my car they said they have had several come in with the same issue. They stated they needed to replace a wiring harness, but it is on indefinite backorder according to the service person. I think his name was [xxx] . They were unable to tell me when they will be able to address this concern. I am concerned this sounds very similar to the Toyota's that are being recalled and if both companies need the same part how safe are these cars from Hyundai to drive. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The electronic dashboard and heads up display go blank for as little as a few seconds to over 30 seconds. This happens over and over again. Sometimes in doesn't happen at all but more often than not it does. I have no data when this does this, no idea what speed I'm going at, no data about the blind spot safety controls. Nothing. If it unsafe to drive without knowing what speed you are going and other information. The dealer said they could not reproduce the condition even though there is a hyundia technical service bulletin out for the same problem on a similar Hyundai and many, similar reports on the Hyundai forum. The dealer said they could do nothing even though I had to drive off in an unsafe vehicle.
While driving, the digital cluster (unit that displays speed, fuel etc) goes blank many times and this is a major safety issues as critical info is unavailable and also very distracting while driving as the unit flickers and reboots during driving. Here are a few videos of the issue: [xxx] I took the car to dealership where they replaced the cluster module but I still am facing the issues even after repairs. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The instrument panel side of the infotainment screen has gone completely black on multiple times . The heads up display flickers and goes out, therefore, no way to see what speed I’m going. . Extremely dangerous. . Also all warning “dash” lights come on. I have a video of the dash lights on and the screen going black and coming back on. . I dont make it a habit of driving with phone in hand. Your system will not let me upload my videos!.
This vehicle is a pile of hot garbage. Front end collision system slams on the brakes when you are not even close to hitting something in front of you plus it will auto brake randomly but often. I was backing into a parking spot and someone walked in front of the car and it slammed on the brakes. Dealer says only way to fix this is to turn the entire safety system off. The coffee break warning has zero rhyme or reason and will go off 10+ times in a trip even though I am not distracted and use my turn signal changing lanes. Dealer states there is no way to turn this off. Dashboard randomly flashes and goes dark along with all lighting in and outside the vehicle. Dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and returned the car with no fix. Drove the car in the rain for the first time and dashboard came up with a ton of errors and crash detection turned off. This is new and will be taking the car in for this and is now the reason I am filing another complaint. This vehicle is not safe and can be very scary to drive because you don't know when it will just take over for you.
My dashboard will black out, my hud display will flicker or just go out. All of my indicator lights for vehicle issues all light up and stay lit up.
