1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2026

While driving the vehicle information system (speedometer, tach, fuel, etc. ) goes dark for several minutes. It comes back then it goes out again.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2026

Vehicle is 2025 Hyundai tuscon purchased 12/31/2025. On April 18th, as I was backing into my garage I noticed that I could not see through the right side end window. On closer look I noticed that the glass was shattered without any spots of particle hit or point of impact. I stopped and took pictures, took the vehicle to potamkin Hyundai and the service guy also took pictures. I went back on April 21 to see the service manager who also took pictures and advised me to give them some time to review. After about 1 week, I got the message that the request for replacement under manufacturer warranty had been declined and that I would have to replace this on my own.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2026

On 4/14/26, the glass area between the sunroof and directly above the front windshield, cracked and subsequently shattered. There was no impact and currently there is no damage to the sunroof or windshield. Upon checking online to figure out what this area is called, I discovered that this is a common problem with Hyundai vehicles (spontaneous glass cracking/shattering). This is a safety issue as shattered glass could get lodged in the vehicle or fly off the vehicle and injure someone. I have an appointment with a local Hyundai dealer tomorrow morning (4/19/26) to inspect the issue.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/11/2026

The car was backing out of a driveway in reverse. Came to a stop to shift to drive, and recieved a "shift system malfunction! service immediately" screen message and the car was locked in the middle of the roadway unable to be put into any gear or be turned off. It was a huge roadway safety issue. The tow driver had to search for a code or sequence of commands to put it into neutral to be able to be safely lifted onto the tow bed, and the vehicle was stuck in accessory mode, which effectively drained the battery.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2026

The display on the dashboard that includes the speedometer and other information goes completely blank. So does the heads-up display on the windshield. This could occur at the same time or individually. It may last only a few seconds or for several minutes. This has happened since I bought the car about 1. 5 years ago. I've had it to the dealership and they have noted the problem but have not been able to fix it. I know that genesis, which is part of Hyundai has had recalls about this problem, but so far Hyundai has not. Since it involves a loss of the speedometer, I think that it is a safety problem and should be addressed. It happens almost every time that I drive the car.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2026

While driving the dash screen starts to flicker on and off and then goes black and a no signal message appears on the screen. When this happens I have no gauges to check and no speedometer to view, very unsafe to drive with no gauges or speedometer. I’ve been to the dealership two times for this problem once in December of 2025 and again in April of 2026 and still have the same issue.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2026

On 4/3/2026 heading to [xxx] on I 95 (outside of [xxx] ) traveling with traffic (3-4 lanes) I was in the middle lane going approx 74mph when on 5 separate but in close approximation (estimated within 20 mi) times, my car which was on cruise control, suddenly threw up warnings to pull over, shook my steering wheel, yanked my car toward the left lane (with traffic flowing the same way as I was) and suddenly decreased my speed to 64 mph before I could regain control! it was a beautiful, sunny day with no precipitation. Cars were swerving and beeping . My family was in the car. I stopped all cruise control and drove the remaining five hours to my destination scared out of my mind. I called local dealership, country club chevy, Dodge, Jeep, Hyundai etc. At 607432-9300 and told gavin what had occurred. I was unable to get into a dealership while I was in [xxx] for the brief time I was there. On my way home I tried cruise control on I 95 in the right hand lane all the way over so that no traffic could be on my right side. It was a beautiful day. It happened again to me, the warning lights, the decrease and speed the yank to the right the shaking steering wheel and the sudden breaking while I was in the state of [xxx] . I turned off cruise control again. I didn’t have a problem after that. When I I returned home, , I took the car in to be looked at at the dealership . They said they couldn’t find anything wrong. I contacted Hyundai motor corp at 800-523-4030. Case number 42576997 was assigned. I was put to Hyundai finance. No resolution. I contacted Hyundai corp office at 714-410-4382 and spoke with mohammed. To date, as of may 7 there has been no resolution as the dealership doesn’t have access to drive this car on a 4 lane rd. As we live in a real area. I do not feel safe driving this car. It is going to kill someone else on the road or someone in my family. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2026

"consider taking a break" warning comes on every 3-5 minutes after the car has been driving for an hour or so. Even after stopping, taking a break, and switching drivers, the warning comes on repeatedly. This is not a safety feature - it is a safety hazard. It is distracting to the point of being dangerous.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/13/2026

As of today, March 17, 2026 , my 2025 Hyundai Tucson keeps having safety issues. On March 8th , 11th, 14th and 25th the car once again shut down mid-drive. This issue occurred last month as well but dealership claims no dtcs were found. I am noticing that the forward collision warning comes on without any cars or objects in front periodically since the purchase of my car. The light will remain on for a few seconds and disappear. The automatic brake system seems to be causing issues as well which I believe causes the car to shut off completely mid-drive. Once the car shuts off the panel lights turn on to include the engine light, but then after a few seconds I able to change gears back to park in order to turn car back on and continue driving. This has happened now several times since last month. However, I have had issues with my brand new vehicle since I purchased it last year. My car remained in the dealership for 3 months last year due to an engine, ac and power train issues. Prior to the car shutting off, no actual warning lights illuminate other than the forward collision warning light and the notification of headlights are turned off even though it’s daylight and headlights do not need to be turned on . Periodically and intermittently an alert about consider taking a coffee break alert has also popped up in the past. It seems Hyundai has a severe issue with the fca operating system and over 100 complaints have been made about this vehicle nationwide and no recalls have been issued. I am afraid for my life and the life of others on the road as this car should not be stopping and shutting off while driving for no apparent reason.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2026

There is a "consider taking a break" / coffee cup message that appears on the dashboard and beeps uncontrollably. It is annoying and distracting. It is of zero value since it is always false. It came up 5 times on my first 45 mile highway drive. This is not safety feature and in fact is reducing safety as it it annoying and makes me frustrated/mad instead of calm. Hyundai says there is no ability to disable it/turn if off as there was in their previous models.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2026

Hyundai has deemed the horn to be defective and they state there are no replacements for them. This has caused me great concern to my safety as I am not able to alert other drivers of lane intrusion, parking lot back ups ect.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2026

On January 25, I was driving on the freeway and my moonroof front panel exploded. It was a loud bang, and completely unexpected. This could have caused an accident. After the glass exploded, I pulled over only to realize the glass had hit another cars windshield and broke their windshield. I am lucky this didn’t cause an accident.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2026

The horn on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson limited failed without warning in mid January 2026 and no longer functions. This creates a serious safety risk because I was unable to warn another driver while they were merging into my lane on the highway. Without a functioning horn, I cannot alert other drivers to avoid potential collisions. The vehicle was inspected by balise Hyundai in springfield, MA, on January 23, 2026, and the dealership confirmed the horn requires replacement. However, they cannot cannot order the replacement part because it is unavailable, possibly due to a redesign or manufacturer change. Hyundai consumer affairs has acknowledged the defect and confirmed there is no timeline for repair. They are not allowing dealerships to order the old part and do not have a timeline on when the redesigned part will be available. Because the horn does not function, my massachusetts state inspection sticker is expired and cannot be renewed until the horn is repaired, making the vehicle illegal to operate. There were no warning lamps or prior symptoms before the failure. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2026

No visible speedometer as the dashboard was either blank or flashed message "no signal". The hud was not showing either. A vehicle unable to display the speed is inherently unsafe. This occurred with an overnight parked car. After about 20 minutes of driving, normal operation resumed.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2026

Rear door automatically opens randomly. This feature is configured to be disabled through the onboard settings.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2025

During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°f using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from hvac ducting routed through the center console to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear hvac duct and considered the condition “normal. ” no repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai consumer affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2025

Multiple times the car has locked the brakes when there was a car several car lengths in front of me. This has resulted in me nearly being rear ended three different times. The force of the stop has also caused me to have neck and back pain. This is u safe and will result in injuries. There are many reports about this on reddit.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2025

The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Horn stopped before odometer hit 6,000 miles, dealer was unfamiliar with problem until I googled it and found out Hyundai is having horn issues, then they were aware of problem. Took 34 days to get this issue repaired.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2025

I purchased the 2025 Hyundai tuscon limited in October this year. My conern is the headlights. When driving at night using the normal headlights, on the road on the left side shining there appears to be a black spot ahead of me. I've had asked front seat passenger if they noted it also to which they affirmed. I did asked my Hyundai dealer about this and they stated that it is intended that way so that the oncoming vehicle is not blinded by my headlights. I'm driving on a 4 lane divide highway and it is very disracting to me as I feel I cannot see anything on the left side of the left lane when I am in the right lane. This is very distracting and they informed that it's that way on all of thier moderls.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2025

The front end collision avoidance “feature” slammed on my brakes so hard today, for zero reason. I was already braking, going less than 20mph and had plenty of room. This is not the first time, closer to double digits since I purchase in April. This time the car behind me narrowly avoided hitting me which was made worse as my vehicle takes too long to unlock and allow me to begin driving again. This is going to cause an accident and ruin my tires/brakes costing me money.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2025

I started the car and put it in gear and it would not move. Then the check hybrid system and transmission warning showed up. This happened two times and I had to have the car towed in. The second time, it was determined that it is related to a recent recall for the oil pump unit opu software. This recall is not listed any where and drivers are not being informed of it. Hyundai is not responding to my complaint.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2025

Bought car end of April brand new. June 25 brought in, console display went blank. Tried to start my car 11/10 and it would not recognize the key. Had to have it towed to dealership. Car battery was not dead, fob could start car, open doors, etc, but the car shut off as soon as you tried to start the car inside. Originally told fob problem. Nope. The told security control. Nope. Now being told it’s the bdc, basically the “control brain” of the car. Part is back ordered and my car is sitting parked at the dealership. It’s useless. Did some research and found that the bdc is becoming more and more common with a lot of people that have this car. It’s only 7 months old. No warning, dealer knows it won’t recognize fobs and not a fob problem. I was told, that the screen going blank in June was connected to this.

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2025

Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? hvac heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from minneapolis to warroad, mn frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well only, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) brand new SUV consistently 1. 5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is not a software issue rather an hvac air exchange issue. (3) the gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between bemidji, mn and baudette, mn (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the eon. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: xxx[xxx] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should not be sold in minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk? if I run out of gas, my passengers and I risk frost bite or fatality of hypothermia. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer service center? yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer? yes. Were there any warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning messages have ever appeared. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2025

I was 15 minutes into my commute home on route 9 in massachusetts when I stopped at a red light. When I took my foot off the brake and stepped on the gas the car would not accelerate more than 5 miles an hour. I was stuck in the intersection for about 10 minutes and had to put on my hazards and get into the right lane and keep driving at 5 mph until I found a place to pull over and restart the car. When I restarted it it drove ok.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/02/2025

Shortly after arriving home from approximately 60 mile trip, vehicle had been park approximately 10 minutes, came out to smoke and flames coming from inside of vehicle. The vehicle has been picked up by insurance but unsure whether the vehicle fire has been reported to NHTSA or Hyundai. The vehicle has not been to the dealer since the fire. Fire department stated it appears fire started inside vehicle. No warning lamps, messages, or other problems prior to the fire.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/24/2025

Driver assist warning system. The driver assist warning in the vehicle provided a false alarm every 4-5 minutes while driving on the interstate. The trip was during the day and the driver was alert staying between the lane lines. The driver assist warning system was disabled in the vehicle settings. This problem has been reported by multiple individuals in the Hyundai forums.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

There is a "consider taking a break" warning that pops up pretty often on this car. When I am doing normal driving. It is a major distraction and creates an unsafe situation. There is no way to turn off this feature.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2025

Defective horn after a few months. Had to take to dealership for repair.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2025

The horn in our 2025 Hyundai Tucson failed. We took the vehicle to two separate dealerships to get replaced, but were told the horns were out of stock with no eta for parts. I followed up multiple times over several months with both dealerships, but got nowhere. This is a huge safety issue. How can Hyundai not correct this issue?.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2025

The "consider taking a break" indicator illuminates erratically. We can drive it for 200 miles and it won't come on or we can drive it for 13 miles and it comes on 9 times. We've had the vehicle in the dealership for inspection (3) times. The dealership could not get it to fail. The dealership and Hyundai America said it's nothing they can do. It's an unnecessary annoying "distraction" while we're driving and we know distracted driving is the main cause of accidents. We had an incident where I took my eyes off the road to check the warning "consider taking a break" light and bell came on, at that moment a large wild bird flew towards my windshield. The bird would have hit my windshield if it wasn't for my passenger yelling to stop. We had another incident where my spouse took her eyes off the road to check the "consider taking a break" light came on when she was approaching a cross walk with a pedestrian in it. The problem has not been duplicated by the dealer. They may assume all of us are poor drivers because they suggested changing sun glasses, keep hands at 10 & 2, don't block the camera, sit straight up in driver seat, etc. I told the dealership and Hyundai America that I was willing to have this dangerous feature an option that I could turn off or totally removed. They said they can't do it because it's a safety feature.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2025

My 2025 Tucson hybrid violently stopped in mid traffic while leaving the intersection once the signal turned green to proceed. I accelerated getting to speed limit then it abruptly stopped, violently throwing contents from back seat to the forward cabin. Both, myself the driver and my passenger were jolted violently. The school bus behind me had to stop quickly as we were just getting up to speed from a stop light. The vehicle is brand new, 2024 miles on it. Tucson nline hybrid with all the safety features turned on. I called the dealer and service rep which both instructed to turn off the fcs forward collision system setting. I did but this shouldn't be happening and will cause bodily harm/damage, and possible death is a specific situation. This abrupt stop was jarring to both people in the car.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

My new Hyundai Tucson has less than 5k miles on it and while driving on a fairly empty road the panoramic sunroof exploded for no reason (as we know nothing hit it). Fortunately the screen was closed at the time, but had it been open then glass shards could have entered the car. I often have my grandchildren in car seats with the screen open and this could have caused serious eye damage to them. Hyundai and other manufacturers know this is a common problem but refuse to do anything about it. The local dealer will not cover the repair even though the car is under warranty. When the roof explodes it sounds like a gunshot and we swerved, but fortunately no cars were near us at the time. I can see where this can easily cause accidents.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/20/2025

The backup camera is not working and theres a glitch on the screen when on reverse gear. In addition the adaptive cruise control is not working 8-9 out of ten times.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2025

The rear hatch was open as I had loaded packages in it. My husband & I were both at the rear of the car. I was on the passenger side but told my husband I was going to drive home and began crossing over to the driver side. He pushed the button to close the hatch. It came down and hit me in the head. It lacerated my head and really hurt. I had to get 5 staples to close the wound. This is a very concerning safety hazard. As an adult it was painful and required medical attention. I believe it should have detected my presence and stopped. I am concerned what would have happened if this was a child. I believe they would have been seriously injured or killed. I have 3 grandchildren so it is very concerning.
