1 Assist problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 09/06/2025

I have had two incidents with this vehicle (that I have owned for less than 90 days) that have raised safety concerns. Both involved the loss of all information on the "instrument panel" aka dashboard. In the first (August 18, 2025), all of the warning lights came on, then the screen went dark - there was no information on the two screens and no head's up display. This happened while I was on the highway doing about 65 mph. After I was able to pull over safely, it took several attempts to get the vehicle started again and in gear. I took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to replicate the issue and saw no codes. The second episode occurred yesterday (9/6/25). This time the screen went dark except for a large red warning "no signal". The screen came back after a few moments; I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Both of these involved losing all information as to the speed of the vehicle - which I believe is a safety issue. Both of these issues have also been reported by others on facebook ("Hyundai owners") since late last year and it appears to be some sort of electrical issue but there has been no TSB or recall by Hyundai yet.

2 Assist problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/19/2025

2025 Hyundai Tucson sel convenience the car is equipped with faw forward attention warning system which is supposed to give a warning if the driver's focus is diverted from looking at the road. The problem is that while driving in what Hyundai calls hda (highway driving assist) which activates when the car is placed in adaptive cruise control (cruise control that keeps the vehicle at a set speed and distance from the cars ahead) and lane driving assist (driving assist to keep the vehicle centered in the lane) the car issues far too many false warnings telling the driver to "keep your eyes on the road". While in hda, the car monitors the driver's eyes and head position using a driver facing camera, part of the faw (forward attention warning system) or ddms (direct driver monitoring system) to assure the driver is focused on the road ahead. However, in the 2025 Hyundai, this system is so flawed that the car is practically undrivable in the hda mode with cruise control and lane driving assist engaged issuing too many false warnings, that the driver is not focusing on the road. The multiple warnings, in some cases every few seconds, is extremely distracting taking the driver's attention away from safely controlling the vehicle. The system which is intended to make the vehicle safer is instead such a distraction it makes the car unsafe due to the constant false warnings requiring driver attention to address them and away from safely operating the vehicle.

3 Assist problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

What component failed: forward attention warning / highway drive assist safety at risk: Hyundai's driver attention camera fails for me when I wear prescription eyeglasses while it is sunny out. Without prescription glasses, I cannot drive safely. Further, repeated driver attention alerts cause the car to autonomously stop, which is a safety risk problem reproduced: yes, Hyundai says this is operating as designed and I should get other eyewear (despite me needing them to drive) vehicle inspected: yes, by Hyundai service technician warning messages: "keep your eyes on the road", even when I am fully paying attention to the road.

4 Assist problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 07/18/2025

I wear prescription glasses which transitions to darker shades, and while driving 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid ltd in driver assist mode (Smart cruise control) the vehicle is warns me with some message to stop the car and then deactivates the cruise control. . . Because of this it is becoming very problematic to use the driver assist features. Is there a way that the sensors that keeps an eye on my eyes when use the glasses be disabled but still I can use the Smart cruise control? I do not see this eye attention feature is of any use and is not helping people like me who wear prescription glasses which transitions to darker shades during day time.

5 Assist problem of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/26/2024

Forward attention warning is a system with a camera on the top of the steering wheel column that is supposed to check if the driver is looking forward when assisted driving like lane keeping is active during cruise control. This system does not work with sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses to drive on a sunny day is a normal activity. If this system can not see your eyes then it assumes you are not looking forward and will try to shut off driver assistance like lane keeping and then goes another step with a threat to shut down the car no matter where the car is or how fast the car is going. I was going 70 down a highway and I get the forward attention warning and before I can do anything to convince the system I was looking ahead I got the warning that car was about to be shut down. This is the second day in a new car so I was lucky to think to turn off cruise control, but it was a scary incident that could have gone bad quickly. This is not a safe system and and needs to be able to be turned off without disabling the driver assistance features.

8 Assist problem of the 2023 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 04/16/2024

While driving 35mph on a 3-lane street in the far left lane, a driver of a Ford f-150 was in the center lane about two car lengths ahead, decided to make a right turn onto a residential street (as if he were driving a semi). As I got closer, the forward collision warning suddenly alerted and immediately initiated emergency braking system causing all 3 passengers to be thrown forward. I hit the steering wheel before seat belt caught me. I was not even within distance and he was turning in opposite direction of my lane. There also seems to be sensitivity issues with lane keeping feature as in phoenix, there are never ending freeway construction with make-shift lanes not always marked well. On several occasions the steering wheel was jerked out of my hands because it couldn’t detect the lanes any longer. It has caused me to avoid freeways all together and has made me miss the exit off the freeway twice now. I thought this feature only activated during active cruise control, but apparently it does it regardless. Now I’m beginning to have problems with display going out at the worst times. I will be taking my Tucson to a dealer to have them deactivate both systems & advise of display. I shouldn’t have to pay for this. I’ll take over the driving, thank you very much!.

9 Assist problem of the 2020 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 10/27/2022

Both waning lights came on for lane assist and forward collision warning. I took the vehicle to the dealership. They said the camera was not working and I would have to pay $1700. 00 to install a new one. It appears there are 2 separate cameras involved. I was asked if I struck anything. I did not and the camera in the grill is I damaged as is the forward collision camera in the rear view mirror. The paperwork I received from the dealer says “software error” I have not had the work done due to the cost. I was also told by the dealer that they are aware of other customers with the same problem.

10 Assist problem of the 2019 Hyundai Tucson

Failure Date: 09/26/2022

While on the road, the 2019 Hyundai Tucson value dashboard warning lights lit up and stated to check the lane keeping assist and the forward collision assist. The engine light, anti-skid light and power steering light came on as well as the car began to decelerate while in the middle of traffic. I pulled over and turned the car off. When trying to turn back on, the car would not start again until I began pumping the gas with my foot for a few seconds then it started; however, now the engine light was on although it drove normally after that. This has happened to me a few times now, but is very scary because it gives no warning and when I take it to the dealership they can never find anything wrong with it.
