While driving on a public road, the vehicle experienced multiple simultaneous, dangerous malfunctions: dashboard warnings: all lights illuminated, including engine (flashing), abs, traction control, airbag, tpms, and parking brake, which stayed on though disengaged. Engine & transmission: tachometer fluctuated wildly in park; engine revved without accelerator input. Shifting to drive/reverse caused unexpected “kicks. ” vehicle sometimes failed to move when pressing gas, requiring engine restart. Driving issues: speedometer read 0 or jumped inconsistently. Rpm continued erratically while maintaining speed without accelerator. Steering became extremely difficult. I immediately determined the vehicle was unsafe to drive and returned home with it, which was only a couple miles away. Follow-Hyundai advised dealership diagnosis; they suggested a backup camera module will resolve the issues I experienced in entirety, but also in the same email stated that they could not guarantee it would resolve all of the issues I experienced. This is the second major engine/powertrain failure: first approximately ~70,000 miles (full engine replacement), current approximately ~95,000 miles (approximately ~25,000 miles post-replacement). Recurrence indicates a serious, unresolved safety defect. I am deeply concerned for passenger safety, including children. Other owners report similar issues; the attorney general’s office advised reporting to NHTSA. Summary of safety risks: sudden loss of control/power, erratic acceleration, dashboard failures, steering resistance, unpredictable handling, recurrence of major defect. I am submitting this report to NHTSA to request investigation of these recurring defects. I do have video documentation of all of this, as well as all written communication with Hyundai national consumer affairs and the dealership. I am having a hard time uploading them because of the file limits. Please let me know if any of this will be helpful to you.

The car keeps randomly dying. Completely loses power even when driving.
Brake lights, hazard lights, and turn signals in the back of the car stopped working. Took vehicle into glenbrook Hyundai dealer in fort wayne, indiana and the dealer confirmed the problem is caused by the open safety recall. No remedy exists yet, so dealer charged me diagnostic fees for recall-related work.

Vehicle dash intermittently goes out. Flickers, goes dark, or shows every warning that exists on the panel. Could be unsafe as speed, gas gage, or other warnings that provide safety are going dark. Took it to dealer in roseville, CA. They tried to repair it, but problem began to occur again a week later. I have a video of it, but can’t show here.
I am having issues with the main window switch for the second time. 1 out of 3 windows goes down but not back up. Also I took it for a check up and found nothing but the engine is making a loud noise and shakes the car when in drive. I don’t feel safe driving this car sometimes.

Issue type: intermittent electronic system failure / critical safety hazard description of incident: a severe safety-related incident occurred while driving at night on 12/29/2025, at approximately 5:48 pm. Under fully dark winter conditions in MA, while the vehicle was in motion with the headlights set to auto, the following events occurred: total system blackout: all interior and exterior lighting systems suddenly failed simultaneously, including the digital instrument cluster, infotainment display, and backlighting for all illuminated buttons and controls. The complete failure of exterior lighting and interior displays resulted in an immediate loss of forward visibility and access to critical driving information. Duration: the blackout lasted approximately two seconds before the system appeared to reboot. Recurrence: approximately ten seconds after the first incident, the same total blackout occurred again under identical conditions. Vehicle status: the engine remained running throughout the incidents; however, the simultaneous loss of lighting and instrumentation created an extremely high-risk driving situation. This incident constitutes a critical safety failure. The vehicle had experienced repeated electrical system failures prior to this incident, and was previously presented to the dealer on 8/7/2025 for diagnosis and repair. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction and failed to take appropriate corrective action to address these issues: 07/13/2025: the auto stop function became inactive, and the vehicle failed to accelerate properly after stopping at traffic lights, creating a hazardous driving condition. 07/14/2025: the phone failed to connect to the vehicle’s infotainment system. 07/17/2025: while reversing in a parking lot, the parking collision warning system failed to detect a moving vehicle behind the car. No audible or visual warning was issued, rendering the safety feature ineffective in preventing a potential collision.
On December 27, 2025, while driving, the engine suddenly lost power and the vehicle entered limp mode and became undriveable. A warning light appeared and diagnostic code p1326 was later confirmed, indicating engine bearing failure. The vehicle could not be driven safely and required towing to a Hyundai dealership the following day. The engine failure caused a loss of propulsion safety risk. The vehicle remains out of service pending a full engine replacement. The vehicle is available for inspection at a Hyundai dealership.

During normal winter operation with the heater in use, the center console area becomes excessively hot. I have measured surface temperatures exceeding approximately 130°f using an infrared thermometer. The affected area includes interior touch surfaces, cup holders, and a factory-installed wireless phone charging pad. The heat appears to originate from hvac ducting routed through the center console to supply the rear seat vents. Closing the rear vents does not reduce the console temperature, indicating heat transfer through the ducting rather than airflow. The condition is most severe after a warm-soak cycle (driving to operating temperature, briefly parking, then driving again). When a phone is placed in the intended storage or wireless charging area, the device overheats and triggers thermal protection warnings. The console surfaces also become hot enough to present a potential burn risk with prolonged skin contact. These temperatures exceed recommended ambient conditions for consumer electronics and lithium-ion batteries in a normal-use interior storage and charging location. The issue was reported to a Hyundai dealership. The service department stated the heat was caused by the rear hvac duct and considered the condition “normal. ” no repair, insulation review, or corrective action was offered, and no specific temperature measurements were provided in writing. Hyundai consumer affairs directed me to return to the same service department, despite the concern remaining unresolved. This condition occurs during normal vehicle operation and represents a potential interior thermal safety concern.
Dec 24, 2025 I started my and went a very short distance down the road, my entire dash display went completely black. It stayed this way for about 5 to 10 minutes and I pulled over and turnd the car off and back on, pretty scary.
The contact owned a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact's neighbor knocked on the contact's residential door and informed the contact that the contact's vehicle was on fire. The contact stated that when she went outside, the contact noticed that the entire front of the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was called, and the fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was filed. The contact stated that the vehicle was burned all the way to the rear seat of the vehicle. The fire burned another vehicle that was parked in the contractor's yard. In addition, the contact stated that the fire burned a good portion of the contact's residential yard. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The vehicle was condemned a total loss by the insurance company. The fire inspector informed the contact that the fire started in the engine near the battery. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,500.
The dashboard and heads up display intermittently goes on and off. All warning lights are on when the dashboard comes back on. It goes off long enough to not know how fast you are going. Hyundai has this as a known issue for limited trims of the Hyundai Tucson yet they only tell you to take it to the dealer for the vehicle to be fixed. Customers have taken their vehicle back to the dealership after the dealerships stated that the issue was fixed because the issue happens again a few days later. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.
I am writing regarding the diagnosis provided for my vehicle [xxx] . I was informed today that the engine failure is being attributed to a "water hose failure" rather than the engine defects covered under the active safety recall/settlement regarding connecting rod bearing failure. As there were no coolant leaks before or after the vehicle was towed to your dealership. I am formally requesting a re-evaluation and more detailed evidence. Given the known history of these engines seizing, I need to ensure this diagnosis is absolutely correct and not a symptom of the internal defect. I request the following information be provided immediately: 1. Evidence of overheating: did the vehicle store any specific "overheating" codes in the ecu prior to the engine shutting off? 2. Oil pan inspection: has the oil pan been removed to inspect for metal shavings or debris? if the connecting rod bearings failed (the recall issue), there will likely be metallic debris in the oil, regardless of the condition of the water hose. 3. Bearing clearance test (bct): was the mandated bearing clearance test performed? if not, I request that this be done, or that a teardown be performed to inspect the rod bearings specifically. 4. Causal link: can you provide evidence that the water hose failed causing the engine to seize, rather than the engine seizing causing a pressure spike that damaged the cooling system? I have no transportation to work and school. They would not honor a loaner. This has happened since decemeber of 2025. I await your written response with the requested photos and technical data. My case # with Hyundai consumer affairs # xxx please provide: all relevant photographs freeze-frame and ecu data technician diagnostic notes results of oil pan inspection and/or bct (if performed) any physical evidence supporting the stated cause of failure I request this information be sent in writing at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your attention to information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.

My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the awd likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the edr (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an edr. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contacted a second dealer, who said they don't have a reader. I inspected the floormats before the car was towed, as that was an initial suspect, but it was locked in and clearly there was no obstruction. She was wearing tennis shoes and doesn't recall ever having an instance of hitting the wrong pedal in any vehicle. She thinks she was only coasting, not even touching the brake yet.

The horn stopped working. This is a huge safety concern. In a busy intersection unable to warn other drivers not paying attention to the road since horn does not work. This started few days prior with only high tone working, but not low tone (which is very hard to hear from other vehicles since not very loud), then after couple of days no horn at all. Looking online this seems to be a known issue with multiple Hyundai cars (venue, Tucson, santa fe, elantra etc) and some of them apparently had had to get their horns replaced multiple times since they keep being replaced with defective horn units, yet it is for some reason not a recall yet. Could you please investigate into this? I think there should be a recall for defective horn units. Huge safety concern, accidents could be prevented by fixing this.
Once entire display screen including entertainment display and dashboard display went black/ turned off while driving. It came back on within a few seconds. Once dashboard display (without entertainment) went black/ turned off while driving. Last a few seconds.
While operating the vehicle, an intermittent audible warning sound occurs without any corresponding alert, message, or notification displayed on the dashboard or infotainment screen. The specific component or system causing the warning is unknown. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This condition puts my safety at risk because the unexplained warning sound occurs while driving and causes me to divert my attention from the road in an attempt to identify the source or meaning of the alert, creating a driver distraction. The issue has been reproduced multiple times under normal driving conditions. I demonstrated the condition to the dealership and provided video evidence; however, the issue has not been diagnosed or confirmed, and no root cause has been identified. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership, but no explanation or resolution has been provided. The manufacturer is aware of the issue through an open case. There were no warning lamps, messages, or prior indicators associated with this condition. The audible warning occurs without any visible alert or explanation. The condition began shortly after purchase in November 2025 and was later documented and demonstrated to the dealership in January 2026.
I am writing regarding a serious incident involving negligent automotive service performed by jiffy lube store #687. On October 24, 2025, I took my 2017 Hyundai Tucson to this location for a standard oil change. I trusted that the service would be completed properly and safely. However, on November 21, my vehicle’s oil lamp unexpectedly illuminated. Concerned, I returned to jiffy lube on November 22, where employees informed me that they had “sealed the small leak and topped [my] oil,” adding that I was entitled to two top-offs between oil changes and “should be good for two weeks. ” tragically, the very next day, November 23, the oil lamp flashed again. My vehicle then shut off while I was driving, with my children in the back seat. This was a frightening and dangerous situation for all of us. I am now left confused, stressed, and unsure of the full extent of the damage.

Major problems with this cars electrical and computer systems. Six warning lights would begin to flash in succession. Eventually car would be inoperative leaving us stranded in July 2025 in cumberland MD then after supposed repair we were again stranded in providence ri on Nov 20, 2025 and car has been there for repair ever since. No completion date has yet been given. I strongly believe there are major safety problems with this car.

(NHTSA tracking number 11726105) I am updating my existing complaint regarding my 2024 Hyundai Tucson (NHTSA tracking number 11726105) for an ongoing safety concern involving an intermittent warning chime while driving. This issue began shortly after I purchased the vehicle in Nov 2025 and has been reported to the dealership multiple times over several months. The warning chime occurs randomly while driving without any visible warning message or dashboard alert. This creates uncertainty because I do not know what the vehicle is trying to warn me about, which is distracting and creates a safety concern while driving. The dealership previously replaced both front seatbelt buckle assemblies after identifying intermittent high resistance as a possible cause. However, after that repair was completed, the warning chime occurred again while I was driving to the dealership for a follow-up visit. This confirmed that the issue was not fully resolved. I immediately returned the vehicle to the dealership, and they are now performing further diagnosis. I was advised that if the issue reoccurred, the next possible areas for diagnosis could involve the instrument cluster or the control module, both of which are safety-related systems connected to warning alerts and seatbelt functions. In addition, during this same visit, the dealership confirmed there is an actual oil leak requiring repair. This is significant because when I first raised this concern after an outside inspection in December 2025, I was told it was likely leftover residue from a prior oil change. The dealership has now confirmed it is a real leak and kept the vehicle for repair while providing a loaner vehicle. Because this vehicle was sold as certified pre-owned and these safety and mechanical concerns continue shortly after purchase, I remain concerned about the reliability and safety of the vehicle.
I’ve been driving this car for nearly a year, and during that time I have observed 6+ incidents when my instrument cluster went blank and rebooted in the middle of the road while the vehicle is moving. This seems to be widespread issue with no resolution from Hyundai what so ever. I have raised this issue with Hyundai as well.
Bought new, less that 400 miles in November 2025. Within 2 weeks dash board went blank/black. I consider this a driving distraction especially at night when nothing shows, no speed no gauges. Blackout time varies each occasion. Sometimes after a few seconds all warning light come on and stay on until vehicle shut off . Sometimes a no gignal message. Contiued after service visit with update to vehicle at about 7300 miles in January 2026. Service department acted like they have never heard of this issue.
2 times, while driving 35-40 mph, the vehicle automatically slammed hard on brakes to full stop without any danger or other vehicle near, causing neck pain/whip lash. 3 days ago, I attempted a u-turn in busy intersection, suddenly the vehicle braked hard and came to full stop without any danger near. The dash lights lit up, the vehicle stalled. I was in middle of very busy intersection. It would not move forward. I reversed just in time to miss being slammed into by fast moving oncoming traffic.
I was told there was a known issue with the electrical system with the front bumper harness and wiring harness need to be replaced due to water damage & vehicle's horn keeps on going out and has to be replace.
Component that fails & available for inspection upon request? hvac heat exchange and faulty gas gauge. I drive from minneapolis to warroad, mn frequently and the floor wells has insufficient heat hence impairing use and safety in minnesota's severe climate. I have videos on the following but I am unable to upload videos to your site: (1) when I have heat on high, full blast and to foot well only, the dashboard vent is 115-143 degrees (using a digital food thermometer) and a ~60 degree difference with the footwell at 65-85 (although 85 degrees sounds warm at 1 degree outside my feet are very cold - I would be happy to have you test this with me). (2) brand new SUV consistently 1. 5 - 3 hrs to warm up. I explained to Hyundai this is not a software issue rather an hvac air exchange issue. (3) the gas gauge consistently underestimates the remaining fuel available by 50% in cold weather - an issue that between bemidji, mn and baudette, mn (102 miles/1hr 45min) there are few gas stations. On 11/11/2025 I took the SUV to first bloomington Hyundai - they said it is working as designed. Then 11/20/2025 to morries Hyundai said they are aware of a similar situation with the eon. However, without an "error code" Hyundai is unwilling to fix the air exchange. Additionally, I opened case#: xxx[xxx] -68 with Hyundai corporate - additionally they are unwilling to admit fault - this vehicle should not be sold in minnesota's extreme climate conditions. How was your safety of others put at risk? if I run out of gas, my passengers and I risk frost bite or fatality of hypothermia. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer service center? yes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer? yes. Were there any warning messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no warning messages have ever appeared. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Car often does not accelerate when hitting the gas. Was turning onto highway from a stop car did not accelerate causing other vehicle to swerve to avoid hitting me as my car would not move. Couple seconds later it moved.
Blindspot detection did not pick up car on my right side two times. Front collision warning is effected by the angle of the sun at certain times of the day. Dashboard dims randomly. Could be for a minute or much longer. Could dim on and off, or stay dimmed for over twenty minutes. Brought the car in twice for this problem. Claimed nothing found and tech reset the codes. Bought it in two weeks later, stating problem not fixed. Told them to check connection, suggested they might want to replace the cables, and its a known problem. Again, reset the codes. Only this time they fiddled with the dimmer control on the console and I can no longer adjust the setting.
The faws forward assistance warning system incorrectly identifies a "sleepy driver" and turns off adaptive cruise control. Faws has a dozen triggers that will cause this system to incorrectly alert the driver that his eyes aren't looking at the road and it turns off acc. The faws has a turn off switch but it does not turn it off. So, without this safety feature of adaptive cruise control, the driver just gets constant alerts to stay alert. Hyundai claims it is working "as designed" and has a suggestion to invest in specific sunglasses, or not be taller than 6'1" so the eyes can be detected, or don't wear a hat. Seriously, these are in the manual.
My 2018 Hyundai Tucson experienced complete engine failure at around 118,000 miles. The motor suddenly blew without warning. This vehicle uses an engine type known for widespread engine defects, including bearing wear and internal failure. I bought the vehicle used in 2023, maintained it regularly, and there were no warning lights or overheating before the failure. I had to put oil in my vehicle every week. I had to use 5qts of oil. It smelled like fumes coming through the vents. It then stalled on the highway while we had our son in the vehicle and shaked profusely. Mind you we had our son in the vehicle. How unsafe is that. I then did my research and found out Hyundai engines of this generation have a history of stalling, seizing, and internal damage. I am filing this complaint because this appears to be part of a known safety defect that can cause sudden loss of power while driving. We took it to shop and confirmed the motor blew. It was faulty. Also, sometimes the electrical components would turn off in vehicle such as radio and would go black. Also the turn signal would be on and then turn off. It would also shake while driving. This needs to be taken care of ASAP as it almost caused danger to my family and also caused financial strain on my family too as I now had to roll over my vehicle loan into a new safe vehicle. I would like to be contacted in regards to this. Thank you.
Sensors something to do with the motor and not sure where the other sensors is related to could be the motor as well. The safety was not good due to it shut off in the middle of traffic and making wraddling noise. I took the vehicle to the dealership where purchase from. They have done nothing besides fixed one thing that I know of supposed to been the surpension. But the other problems was not fixed no it has not been inspected by anyone the warning lamp come on and just blinking none stop.
As I was driving I was stopped & told my car was on fire. I immediately stopped & hopped out & less than 30 seconds later half of the hood caught heat/fire & flew into the windshield breaking it. At least half the car is burnt to ashes.
As I was parking my car in a parking spot going about 5 miles or less. My car surged forward at a very accelerated speed, and I ended up running into a brushed and a metal fence, which is what stopped me. There were no warnings that went off on my car. No emergency brakes, nothing.
In October 2025, the center display screen in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson hybrid began shutting off repeatedly while the vehicle was in motion. The screen controls essential functions including speed information, navigation, backup camera, safety alerts, and hybrid system data. When it shuts off, all of these features become unavailable without warning. The failure is intermittent and continues to reoccur. The component involved is the center display/infotainment system and may affect related radar and safety-system warnings. The dealer stated they duplicated the issue and reported that it was repaired, but the same display failure occurred again afterward while I was driving. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others is put at risk because when the screen shuts off, I lose access to critical vehicle information. This has happened at highway speeds, including one instance where the display shut off approximately eight times within 20 minutes. In addition, the radar warning system has activated when no nearby vehicles were present, creating distraction and uncertainty. The problem has been reproduced by the dealership, documented by me on video, and reported to the manufacturer. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by an authorized Hyundai service center and reviewed by the manufacturer’s customer service department. There have been no police or insurance inspections because the defect has not resulted in a crash, though the safety risk is significant. Warning symptoms include intermittent radar system alerts appearing without surrounding traffic. These symptoms began in October 2025 and have continued even after dealer repairs. The display failure persists and the vehicle remains unsafe to operate. P. S. I cannot upload video evidence as the website would not allow me and I have to start over.
The contact owns a 2020 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the brake auto hold was engaged unintendedly and failed to disengage upon pressing the button, which required the contact to turn off, restart, and drive the vehicle for some time for the brake auto hold to disengage. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring. The contact stated that the infotainment system was inoperable. Additionally, the passenger's side rear seat belt failed to buckle as intended, and the passenger's side rear door handle fractured while the contact was opening the door. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
My 2017 Hyundai Tucson has completely broken down will not go into reverse had a diagnostics at Hyundai. I thought it was going to be covered because of the class action suit. My car apparently was not in the recall or the suit. I don’t understand I have the identical problem of the dual clutch transmission issue. I’ve tried to get Hyundai to do good-faith repair they refused. I’ve contacted carmax where I purchased the vehicle. They had the car when the lawsuit was finalized I didn’t know anything about the lawsuit or the problem with the vehicle. I’ve had the car for five years it’s at 85,000 miles. I don’t know what to do.
