Rearview System Braking Problems of Hyundai Tucson

1. Driver attention warning (daw). A sudden chime rings three times, the volume on my radio is cut. I am immediately distracted and look down at my dash. It is a picture of a steaming coffee cup with a note saying, “consider taking a break”. At 55 mph, I am traveling 80 ft/sec. My eyes are diverted from the road for 2 seconds. There is a standard 1. 5 second reaction time for my foot to reach the brake. The optimal mechanical braking distance for a 2026 Hyundai Tucson at 55 mph is approximately 104 feet under ideal, dry conditions. 2 sec =160ft 1. 5 sec = 120ft optimal braking=104ft --------------------------------------- best case stopping =384ft now, if there is a downhill, wet, or icy conditions, sand and gravel if I have to choose the ditch to avoid an obstacle that I would have seen 3. 5 seconds earlier, I could conceivably be unable to stop for over 500 feet, putting myself and/or others at great risk of injury or death. The daw is an annoying and unnecessary distraction at best, and a potentially fatal distraction in the gravest of circumstances. I declare that it is a serious safety hazard and request firmly that it be permanently disabled on my 2026 Tucson 2. Rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist (rcca) when I am backing out of my driveway into the immediate travel lane (not crossing a lane), my steering wheel vibrates and the brake is remotely applied and not by my choosing if a vehicle in the other lane (which I am not entering) passes by. If two, three, four or more vehicles pass in the lane that I am not traveling, my car is rendered helplessly stopped while vehicles in my travel lane come around the corner toward me and find me stopped against my will right in front of them. This is an annoyance at best, and another grave circumstance at worst. This rcca feature is putting myself and/or others at great risk of injury or death. I declare that it is a serious safety hazard and request it be permanently disabled on my 2026 Tucson.

Vehicle began flashing check driver assistance for rear sensors repeatedly while traveling out of state on March 30th with an occasional flash of check awd/4wd. On March 31st the vehicle flashed the warnings along with a variety of others flashing on the infotainment screen rapidly and shut off while driving. I was barely able to restart to get it safely into a parking lot before it shut down completely without restarting. The vehicle was towed to the Hyundai dealership that it was purchased from. The diagnostics show electrical and safety systems issues. The dealership and Hyundai USA has been less than transparent regarding a repair plan and potential completion date. It is currently April 21st with no end in sight. The vehicle feels completely unsafe to me and I regret the purchase wholeheartedly.

It has randomly stopped working, I wasnt in any accidents. One day it just stopped. This could easily cause an accident, if I was driving with kids and needed the extra warning. Or if I couldn't see.

I was backing out of my driveway, which is on a busy street. I waited for the traffic to clear. I backed out onto the main road, which I thought was completely clear, but a car came behind me and I smacked right into him. There was no beeping from my car, and the automatic braking system did not engage at all. The rear of my car, particularly the driver's side, was severely damaged. The other car's passenger front door was badly damaged. The side curtain airbag on their car deployed and their vehicle (Volvo station wagon) was not driveable. The emergency braking system frequently engages unexpectedly when I back out of my driveway, even when there is no hazard. The unexpected braking is oftentimes dangerous. However, this time, when I needed it, it did not engage. An outside diagnostic inspection was done on the vehicle, and showed "no event. " if you saw the cars involved in the accident, it is clear there was a significant "event. ".

Vehicle has 457 miles. Driving in steady drizzle and road puddles. Warning notice triangle symbol shown in driver info screen with 3 errors. Pulled over and checked notices. Screen shows 3 safety systems disabled - radar blocked. Rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, exit safety system. Checked diagnostics screen - no errors. Checked for dtc codes - none. Drove car home and turned off engine and all systems. Waited 20 seconds. Started car up. No warnings appear in the driver info screen. No errors listed in dtc diagnostics.

Warning lights and messages for the blind spot safety system and rear cross traffic safety system appear in driver information display. Those systems failed to function. Took to dealer for diagnosis/repair. After dealership working on vehicle both systems fail to function.

The heating system doesn’t work - have yo run at settings well over 80 yo get a modicum of warmth. Each time I took in, they’d give me a loaner and each loaner had same issue. Hyundai corporate claims that’s how it should be. Alerts keep resetting to off when car is turned off. That way since I bought car and never fixed.

Infotainment center shut down or went black & would not come back. This controls radio, satellite radio, apple car play, bluetooth connected features, hands free mobile phone connection, and backup camera. Dealership after nearly a month of repairs found shorts in radio and amp and replaced both per warranty.
