Nhtsa vehicle safety complaint report I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety defect involving the rear seatbelt in my 2025 Hyundai Tucson limited. The vehicle currently has approximately 6,000 miles, and this issue has created an extremely dangerous situation for passengers. While traveling out of town, the rear passenger seatbelt suddenly jammed and would not retract or release properly. The belt became completely stuck and unusable. Three adults attempted to safely unjam the seatbelt, but it would not retract or function as designed. Because the restraint system failed, the rear seating position became unsafe and unusable. We were forced to arrange alternate transportation for our passenger because it was not safe or legal for them to ride without a functioning seatbelt. This failure represents a major safety concern. A seatbelt is a critical safety component that should never lock up or become permanently jammed under normal use, especially on a nearly new vehicle with very low mileage. The inability to secure a passenger created a hazardous situation and could have resulted in serious injury if an accident had occurred. I am contacting Hyundai customer affairs today to formally report this safety issue. I will also be taking the vehicle to the dealership for inspection and repair, as I do not feel it is safe to drive the vehicle until the defective seatbelt is properly repaired and confirmed safe. Given that seatbelt failures directly impact occupant safety, I believe this issue requires immediate investigation. A restraint system that becomes stuck and cannot be used is unacceptable and poses a significant risk to drivers and passengers. I am requesting that NHTSA review this defect, investigate potential manufacturing or design problems, and determine whether other vehicles may be affected.

Drivers seat seat does not go up it stays in reclined position no it has not been inspected by the manufacturer no warnings was put in recline position and could not lift up happened a week ago I have to drive to work and it is unsafe driving in this position. I did take it to an autoshop and they said that it could be electrical which they were not equipped to do.

The contact's daughter owns a 2011 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that upon his daughter attempting to enter the vehicle through the front driver’s side door, the door failed to open. The contact stated that his daughter opened the front passenger’s side door and there was black smoke coming from inside the vehicle. The contact’s daughter discovered that the front driver’s side seat, driver’s side door panel, and headliner was burned. The contact stated that the fire department was not called to the scene. There was no one injured. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 23v651000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The dealer was notified of the failure and a tow truck was sent to the residence. While the vehicle was in the dealer's possession, the failure was acknowledged, but the dealer stated that the damages would not be covered for free. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle as not repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.

Driver seat (where your bottom sits) has lateral movement during cornering. Dealer repaired /replaced parts initally under warranty, but issue is reoccuring again. . . As a senior citizen; this gives an uncomfortable feeling with driver postioning.

Campaign #251 I was notified and contacted Hyundai multiple times - 11/14, 15 and 16. There were multiple other times as well. I contacted both broadway and bergstrom Hyundai in both appleton and green bay on multiple occasions as well to ask for a rental while awaiting the remedy as you are advised not to park near structures and outside. I live in an area where this is not possible and rent a duplex with a shared driveway-meaning that if a fire would occur, an explosion would most likely occur and lives would be lost. This also means that going to run errands while parked near other vehicles could cause multiple fatalities,as an explosion would most likely occur and more lives would be lost. If I were at any location and the vehicle started on fire,there would certainly be fatalities. To date, I have contacted Hyundai again and the representative was extremely unhelpful and unfriendly. At one point I was promised a rental but then was turned away. No warning lights came on but if there is a fluid leak, who is to say that the wires that would transmit a signal to turn on an abs light would not be disabled as well?brake fluid has certain components that could render wires useless. I have not had my vehicle inspected by a dealer because the recall was sent to me by Hyundai. I also have had other problems with this vehicle including seats not being stable and seatbelt indicators not working which questions whether I need to worry about the passengers safety. This campaign has been ongoing since I received this letter in November of 2023. Hyundai has yet to do a thing about this recall. I am asking for a complete refund for this vehicle due to multiple recalls. Today-2/28/24 I was on hold for 50 minutes,without an agent-so I am also questioning how seriously you are taking these issues. I have always looked on your website prior to purchasing vehicles, but now I am uncertain as to how much I should take your websites advice.

My automatic seat recliner is stuck and hasn’t worked for quiet sometime now. Also the motor stopped working as I was driving home, so I took it to a mechanic to assess the situation and was told the motor was the issue.

While driving, switched window buttons, driver side front and passenger front, windows will not return to closed position. Also rear windows will not operate as well. When window buttons pressed, clicks and whirring sound heard but windows do not go up. Also lights flash on on transmission gear lights, p, r, n, d. Automatic seat functions also do not work. Cannot adjust driver position to effective driver position. Have left multiple vm's with dealer with no response. Cma Hyundai, colonial heights va.

On my drive seat the recline switch with not go back only forward. The dealer explain to me that the switch is going to cost me over $700 . I recplace the power seat switch for $49. 99 and the power seat switch knob only cost $ 12. 48 , now I am going replace the motor $257. 22.

Our Hyundai Tucson was hit from behind in a multi-car collision at approximately 30 mph and front driver and passenger seats collapsed to the reclining position.

The transmission isn't shifting out properly. You can hear the car revving up and not changing gears. The acceleration is slow as well. Although I'm pressing on the gas, it takes a while for the car to pick up speed. The driver seat in my brand new tuscan is also peeling. I haven't cleaned the seat with any kind of chemicals, but a small spot is visibly peeling.

While I was driving on the expressway, my seat came forward bringing me to the steering wheel. Now when I drive I am always adjusting my seat because it still move forward on its own.

While driving, the driver seat adjusted causing my seat to move up to the steering wheel. At the time I was on the expressway. I was too terrified to scream, I had to pull over to catch my breathe before I could continue driving to get home. I took my car to Hyundai and the service man stated that it didn't happen when he drove it and that they didn't find anything wrong. I filed a complaint before and never heard anything back. The car seat still adjusts. I don't drive it as much now.

The electric motor in the drivers seat doesn't work. Seat will not move at all. It is stuck. We were told the motor is shot. We put in different fuses and had a mechanic look at it with no luck.

Passenger air bag off light remains on whenever an adult weighing more tha 120 lbs are sitting in the passenger seat with a small pillow or seat cushion on the seat. Pillow is needed to enhance seating comfort, especially on long road trips. Light does work when pillow is not used. Unfortunately, seat is poorly designed that requires additional after market support to make it usable on long trips. Sensor need to detect passenger weight with or without additional cushions or activate the airbag 100% of the time. I have already reported this to Hyundai, case number 10626629. They claimed the light is working as designed, only when used without after market cushion. My response is that it is a major safety defect in design, it obviously failed in detecting the total weight on the passenger seat. I believe that Hyundai would be at fault should the airbag failed to deploy during an accident and the passenger is seriously injured or killed. There are additional reasons to use cushions for health or handicapped person, for example. How hard is it to detect total weight of more than 90 lbs on top of that sest? the light remains off when car is moving or stopped. In addition, I have also experienced no acceleration on a left turn when stepped on gas, as previously reported by other's. Engine would rev to over 2000 rpm but the car us not moving for about 30+ seconds. This is a very serious safety issue when you're stuck on a left turn.
