Body Problems of Hyundai Veloster - part 1

Glass roof spontaneously shattered. Car was sitting in direct California sun. Nothing touched the roof but heat, the entire panel shattered and the car is undriveable. Thankfully my car was unoccupied at the time. I have heard there had been class action lawsuits in the past regarding this vehicle make and model involving years up to 2018 but models including 2020 like mine have also had complaints reported. Just adding this to the list of complaints filed.

On tue 6/17 I was driving my 2012 Hyundai Veloster home when the sunroof glass spontaneously exploded (no notifications)then the sound of shattering glass. There were no cars ahead of me and none behind so it was doubtful there was damage done to other people. I did have small chunks of glass fall on me and in the car. Humble Hyundai dealership can't find the recall. I called the main office it's recall campaign # is 108. The dealership said the recall had to be opened back up so they can see it. Otherwise I will be hit with a bill too high for me to handle. Please help ASAP. Thank you.

The car was in Hyundai dealership for 35 days to have a recalls fixed - still showing as no remedy for abs systems and they said they fixed it ? they had me pick up the car? and but the recall still shows no remedy ? I’m not sure it’s fixed ? and 2 weeks later the transmission goes out while I’m driving again and lose control over the vehicle and stuck on side of road had and Hyundai dealership proceeded to only be concerned on who’s paying for the diagnosis who has been the one fixing the vehicle and I have an extended warranty with car max. Car max sold me a car that had rusted brakes and brake lines and several recalls and now the transmission went out . I have expressed to Hyundai and carmax - the car is not safe .

My cars battery continues to die with a check engine light coming on constantly. The vehicle continues to hesitate. The car door mounting lock broke while driving while my toddler was in the back of the vehicle and the door flew open on a road.

Passenger front door is inoperative from the exterior. It can only be opened from the inside, which is a safety issue if someone is being followed and needs to quickly enter the vehicle. It is the same issue as NHTSA id number: 11286381 that was reported 2. 5 years ago, but this is now happening to me and there are several reports of this on Hyundai forums.

The car was repaired at a Hyundai dealership less than a month prior to the incident. I was driving down a road with no one around besides me and my passenger when all of a sudden orange sparks start flying out the sides of the car, I slow down and pull over as fast as I could, then I noticed fire on the passenger side and hurried us out the car. It proceeded to burn away until the firefighters came.

During cold temperatures (sub 32f), the driver's side door will not open from the outside. Occasionally the passenger door is affected as well. This required crawling through the hatch to open the doors from the inside. When the key fob is actuated you can hear and audible click in the area of the door lock, but it can't be opened. Once the weather warms and the car warms up the doors perform normally. This has never occurred during the warmer months.

While washing my 2015 Veloster, the shark fin anntena just broke off, I see this has happened with hundreds of Hyundai vehicles yet they have not done anything about it. The dealer wants an outrageous $500 to $600 , I got crazy glue and carefully glued it back on. Its solid as a rock now and only cost me $6. 99 for the glue.

Traveling from little rock arkansas to branson missouri my panoramic sun roof exploded out of nowhere on the inner state. Scared me and my family to death no reason for the breakage that I can see notice that there was a class action against this model and brand but I am outside the deadline my vehicle is a 2015 Veloster.

The vehicles driver's side door handle does not work on the outside in cold weather, the car has to be entered from the passenger side door and opened from the inside. Car is parked and unlocked but outer door handle, on the drivers door, refuses to operate correctly.

Passenger door started creaking upon opening and closing meanwhile my vehicle is only 3 years old , as well as my driver side window gets stuck and gets off track which I have to pull up my window to close . I know a few more people with a 2015-2017 Veloster and they are all experiencing the same issues.

While gently washing the car the shark style antenna breaks off. This is the case for hundreds of owners. This is a defective part. Dealer charge for repair is $400. 00 to $500. 00 dollars. Parked in driveway.

Drivers side door will not open from the outside in cold (freezing or below) temperatures. It seems to still be locked, despite unlocking the car and being able to open all other doors on the car. Must be opened from the inside through the passenger door.

Panoramic sun roof shattered today, 8 Jan 2019. My car has 14, 200 miles on it. There was snow on the top of my car (on the sun roof). After my car was warmed up (and stopped at a stop light), I heard a strange crackling type noise. I did not suspect it was glass until I hit a bump in the road and then heard pieces of something falling onto the protective/retractable curtain of my sunroof. I pulled off the road and noticed the entire sunroof was cracked with pieces falling onto the curtain.

Driver's door will not open/unlatch from the outside in cold weather, I. E. , below 35 degrees, locked or unlocked. The car was stationary, parked, twice in the driveway, twice away from the house in a parking lot. This just started happening but happens now each time the temperature drops overnight. There are many similar complaints online with no solution.

The rear door (there's only one) on the passenger side will no longer open either from the outside or the inside. There appears to be many complaints of this on the Veloster online forum. I noticed this when I was attempting to open it when a passenger was going to sit there. They had to climb in and out of the rear hatch. This would definitely be a safety issue in an emergency.

In temperatures below 35 degrees, the drivers door does not open. It clearly makes an unlocking sound when unlock is activated, but the handle acts as if it is locked. I have to crawl through another door to open it from the inside. Only the driver side door is effected, and it opens as normal from the inside. Happens regardless of whether the vehicle is on or off. Obviously stationary.

On Tuesday 11/26/2019 around 1pm my car was parked in a lot when the sunroof exploded.

Front passenger exterior door handle is inoperative, door must be opened using interior handle, regardless of lock status.

The vehicle has been in and out of the shop for the last year. The car has significant vibration when turning on my ac and lights. The gas mileage has dropped from 30mpg to 17 mpg. The car lunges forward when taking of and starting. I was involved in a collision where the issues partially caused me to rear end someone. The car was totaled. In the vehicle inspection the insurance company found the frame twisted. The accident was a low speed collision where no one was injured other then myself and the vehicle in front of me a late 90's early 20's Lexus car red in color had little damage. Hyundai is unwilling to help me with the issues prior to the accident. The air bag deployed and I was tseen and reated for chemical burn from the airbag.

The drivers side window does not come back up the motor engages and window stuck in open also occured on the passenger rear window.

The emergency brake light stays on and the car seems to hesitate after putting into drive or reverse. Feels like the brake is still on.

Takata inflators - front and read door latch malfunctions, ie. : front and rear door outside and inside latches not releasing (opening) manually and/or electronically with fob resulting in potential safety issues. The auto was parked and doors locked using fob. When I returned to car, I pressed the unlock button on fob, heard the clicking sound the fob makes when the unlock button is pressed; we pulled the driver side and both passenger door latches, the driver and rear passenger doors did not open. My guest tried to enter the rear passenger door by pulling the inside latch, it still didn't open. Next I pulled the drivers side door latch from the inside, it opened. I leaned into the car, turned on the engine to roll down the drivers window to enter the car. I've tried replacing fuse and fob batteries, resetting the lock/unlock code and nothing seems to work. Crawling over seats, rolling down windows the running around car, and leaving window open are safety hazards. Two non-working doors are safety issues and negatively impacts my customer experience.

The car started to rattle and started to not be able to accelerate. I pulled the car to the side of a semi busy road and let it sit for a moment while turned off and then after 30 seconds turned the car back on. I started to drive the car and turned down a residential road (rothrock circle copley, OH) and that is when things got really bad. The car was in motion and started to act even stranger. It had issues accelerating again and then while driving down the road the lunged forward and then white smoke and flames came from under the cars front end. I jumped out of the car after turning it off, grabbed my personal items and ran off incase of an explosion. I called 911instantly and while on the phone with copley police my car was engulfed in flames. Firefighters came out and started to extinguish the flames but it was too late and the whole front of the car was melted, burned, and destroyed.

My car was stationary over night and my sunroof busted. Had gotten home the night before after driving for 6 hours and parked the car. I had been near it several times and never saw a crack or anything. Went to get in this morning and it has glass everywhere.

Ac knob stopped engaging and only fan only runs on one setting also the rear hatch button stopped working.
