On 1/12/2020, while driving on a city street, the vehicle stalled out and smoke was coming from the engine. Within a minute fire erupted from under the hood and the car was engulfed in flames. I was going about 30 miles an hour in very light traffic. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. They determined onsite that the fire was due to a fuel leak. A fire report was filed. Prior to this on 10/3/2019 I took the vehicle into the dealership because the check engine light came on and I thought the vehicle was leaking gas. They inspected the car and said the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. They did not identify any gas leak. We have contacted them since the fire and they are denying any responsibility. There have been other vehicle fires reported on Hyundais.

Driving down the freeway, started to accelerate in sport mode, heard something pop. Sounded like the clutch slipped or a belt broke. Lost most acceleration. Got off freeway to take side streets home. Had a lot of trouble accelerating up hill. Would accelerate but very slowly. Not on pace with gears. Was shifting weird. Both in d and s. Took me about 4 blocks to get from 0 to 25mph.

First the turbo stopped working n smoking. Took it to the dealer n they had it for a month. . Get it back one day later had to have it towed . Vehicle was there for another 2 weeks got it back and it started to smoke. I pressed on the gas pedal n the car wouldn’t move! the first time the turbo was supposed to be replaced I believe ever since it was sent there to be replaced it was never the same. I still have the car and it will not start. The turbo n engine are filled with oils .

The catalytic converter went bad right after 60000 or 62000 to be correct. I also had a check engine light come on the next week, so we took took the car back in and was told it needed a new engine. This all making no sense to me at all, they said they found metal pieces in the oil pan.
To whom it may concern, my 2013 Hyundai Veloster started having issues on 5/14/19 so I scheduled a service appointment for 5/16 at murdock Hyundai. During my service visit I was notified by the service department that there was a recall (#182) on my car but they currently did not have a fix from Hyundai at that time. My car was parked from 5/16/19 to 6/3/19 when I was finally able to take it back to murdock Hyundai to have the recall issue fixed. The service department updated the defective software and my car drove perfectly. The next day while driving my car home from work it started having the same issues as it did before the update. I contacted the dealership and the soonest they could get me back in was 6/7/19 so again I was not able to drive my car. The service department inspected the vehicle and determined that my fuel injector and spark plug/coils were damaged and need replacement. On 6/11/19 I spoke with a gentleman named sean at the national consumer affairs for Hyundai regarding the repairs needed and I was told that I would receive a call back after he reached out to the service department and I have not heard anything back. I sent him a follow up email on 6/18/19 and still no response. It has been over 30 days since this issue began and it's still not resolved. I work full time and have been relying on public transportation because I am not able to drive my vehicle without causing further damage. I don't believe that the recall update fixed the problem and has caused damage to my vehicle. Any assistance you can provide in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
My car is having issues describing what is happening in the recall, the engine is louder than when I go out it sounds like you're knocking noise and I just got it in September. I need to speak with somebody about this since it's not listed on the recall.
The 2013 Hyundai Veloster I purchased has had an issue where the car emits a sulfur like smell when accelerating. The safety risk is a faulty engine, and possible exposure to dangerous emissions. Upon seeing the check engine light appear, I took it to the Hyundai dealer for a diagnostic. Hyundai informed me that the codes read p0420 and p0463. They recommended replacing and catalytic converter and fuel sensor but did not assess why the issues have occurred. They refused to cover under warranty, even though I had purchased an extended warranty with the vehicle. The check engine light then turned off soon after the diagnostic and ran ok other than the smell. The car has been regularly maintained at jiffy lube for each needed oil changes and service. Jiffy lube explained to me that the vehicle has been low on oil numerous times since the issue started, despite the oil light not illuminated on the vehicle. Upon further inspection at a different Hyundai dealer when the check engine light turned back on, it was explained to me that the vehicles 3rd cylinder is not functioning correctly and that I would have to replace the engine. Hyundai refused to cover the issue for the catalytic converter, fuel sensor, and engine. I suspect the failure of catalytic converter and fuel sensor to be related to the engine, despite the information presented and the service centers. I feel that Hyundai has put my safety in jeopardy by refusing to cover this issue despite my purchase of a warranty that covers engine problems. Included with submission are the records for maintenance, the original diagnostic, and the second diagnostic. The main cause is still unknown after paying for the diagnostic, the dealer did not provide a definitive explanation. Kkb flagged a very similar model, same year, make and engine size with ref. 19v204000 for engine related issues caused by a software issue.
Experienced rough driving and engine rattling while driving above 40 miles. Engine misfiring cylinder coil number 4 failed on 07/19/2018 and 5 months later cylinder coil # 3 failed. Dealer replaced both at no cost.
Very sluggish no power it over revs the engine and doesn't shift right throws rpm way to high this happens every time I drive it not just some times but every time.

So when leaving from a complete stop in drive letting off the brake petal, and letting the vehicle start rolling itself in drive will start vibrating and making clunking metal noises. Will keep doing it unless I either do two of the following things step on the accelerator petal, or push on the breaks and come to a complete stop. And when the vehicles front wheels are turned when taking off from a stop it's 2 times worse. It does it about 2-3 times daily. I've taken it to Hyundai dealership to fix under the warranty and they claim that everything is normal. Don't understand how this is possible tho because of the persistent problem I keep facing. Please maybe look into this as something send not right.
Veloster turbo dct model. When the car isn't fully warmed up, the car suddenly loses power upon medium to hard acceleration. Pressing the accelerator increases engine revs and transmission actually shifts, but no power is being put to the wheels. You have to fully lift off the accelerator and then depress again to get power back. For example, accelerating to merge into freeway traffic is dangerous as it loses power as you are merging and could easily be rear ended. Or turning left across traffic, if the vehicle loses power mid turn you could be hit by oncoming traffic. Happens every time you have medium to hard acceleration when the vehicle isn't fully warmed up. Has happened too many times to number. There is video documentation on the internet of same problem.
My climate cintril knob stopped working st different settings. Sometime I get levek 4 firce of air when the selectiin is on 1. Or other times I get air force of 2 when the selection is on 4. My ac also won't work once the knob started actung up. My second issue is my check engine light gies on and off. I got a reading of dtc p0087 but I am told there is no recall even thou there is a TSB out there.
Been a year fighting Hyundai and went to arbitration yesterday. Still saying isolated incident and car is functioning as intended alrhough they paid for a 2nd transmission at 12k miles. Still missing shifts, reving up to redline while not picking up speef and cutting out while pulling from stops into traffic. Severe safety concern to say the least. If the dct failed and is part of the largest recall in Hyundai history, don't you thingthey should be taking a look at our dct transmissions? I feel swept under the rug and my concerns for our families safety ate being overlooked. I found quite a fee owners on the Veloster nation and ohio Veloster forums with exact complaints. Hyundai refused my submissions from these forums as well as NHTSA complaints of the same nature. Shameful on their part.
In September 2017 I was in a car accident in where my 2016 Hyundai Veloster base was t-boned on the right rear side by an Infiniti SUV. I had filed a previous complaint with the California attorney general against Hyundai motor America and also a complaint against Hyundai motor America themselves. My complaint was based on the fact that my vehicle was struck at a speed of greater than 30 miles per hour and less than 60 miles per hour and that the damages done to my vehicle were right on the right rear airbag sensor but none of my airbags deployed. There has also been a lingering odor of leaking gas but Hyundai refuses to do anything about it because they don't want to take fault. Since that I have had severe migraines and developed really bad arthritis in both arms and both shoulders. My previous insurance company paid out more money to the people that his me and deemed the accident a 50/50 fault on both parties. Even though the fault was on both parties, that has no bearing on a faulty airbag sensor nor does it have any bearing on Hyundai's right to not do anything for me. What I had requested of Hyundai motor America previously was payoff of my current vehicle or a new vehicle that doesn't have faulty equipment.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and acceleration. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The following day, the contact drove to the dealer (university Hyundai in decator, alabama) where the vehicle was kept for one and a half months without rendering a diagnosis. The contact was provided with a rental vehicle in the interim; however, the dealer was currently requesting payment in full for the rental vehicle before releasing the contact's vehicle. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired per a recall for the fuel line that, in turn, damaged other parts of the engine that were not covered by the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The recall details were not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
The rpm's rev to 6500, but the car does not move. When trying to enter the express way car does not shift right, rpm revs to 6500, and does not shift to the next gear. I fear for my life when entering any highway. The car can't even pass another vehicle going 40mph. Dealer says nothing is wrong!!! also when turning a corner vehicle hesitates to accelerate, this is a very dangerous vehicle, I do not feel safe when I drive it. Something is wrong with the electronic shifting module I think. I hope that this complaint will let others know that this vehicle has acceleration issues. The dealer told me on my last visit the everyone complains about this same issue.
When the car is stopped at a light or in traffic with the foot on the break when you release your foot off the break the car lurches forward - must be something with the new dual clutch 7-speed transmission. Please Hyundai fix this before someone gets hurt or killed.
Car traveling at 25 mph in straight line on city street, loud bang and shower of sparks under car. Loss of power but car still running. Pulled to side of road and saw smoke coming out of hood. Opened hood and engine compartment engulfed in flames, closed hood and got away from car. Within 40 seconds engine compartment and cabin totally engulfed in flames, car was a complete loss. 61,000 miles.
About 10 feet from my parking space, I prepared and aligned my eyes to pull forward into the space. Suddenly, my car accelerated and I jumped the curb, and crashed into my apartment building, without me being able to regain control of the car. Now I've been parking for many years, and I was not impaired in any way, shape or form. How fast must that car have accelerated to what mph? I'm terrified to drive the vehicle. I have noticed the whole time I had the car about a "lurching forward", be it a red light or in line at fast food line drive up. Once it starts lurching forward I'm worried im going crash into the car in front of me in line or at the red light. . Also, sometimes when the light turns green, I hit the gas and the car doesn't go anywhere. Then violently throws the car forward accelerates.
The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, fuel fumes filled the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
