There is a current recall since September, 2023, with no remedy to date. In addition, I have driven this vehicle very little after last having my car serviced at the dealership, just over a year now, which seemed to not be sounding right in the engine, so it alarmed me, and all started feeling overwhelming since going to the dealership for repairs. I see there is an engine recall on the 2015 Veloster, though not the 2014? yet they are claiming that both issues can cause fires. My vehicle has less than 100k miles if I remember correct from when I last looked. It's been months since I've even driven the vehicle, as I've not felt safe or comfortable doing so. My vehicle seems to have a lot of the same symptoms as the 2015 Veloster recall. I have been nervous to take it back to the same dealer, though I've also been too nervous to let just any mechanic look at it. When the dealer last changed my oil, a bunch leaked out in my driveway, and I was told there's a safety overflow. In addition, my oil light came on, and I was simply told they forgot to reset it.

The safety recall on my vehicle has been open for nearly 7 months with a risk of fire. There is still no status as to when my vehicle can be serviced to prevent this risk of fire. I find this lack of urgency completely unacceptable considering the risk.
A few months ago, my abs and traction control lights began to come on and off randomly. Then, new lights would pop up, such as check engine and the brake light. These lights would come on, and then go off very sporadically. In the last week, it had gotten much worse. My tire pressure light and eps light had came on as well, totaling about 6 or 7 lights that are on and won't go off. Then, my steering wheel became increasingly hard to turn, I' m guessing because the eps was off. Then, my speedometer completely stopped working, and my gas gauge was jumping up and down after I had filled it to a full tank. I pulled the code, and got code for a wheel speed sensor. I replaced the wheel speed sensor, and no lights went off. I then inspected the fuses, noticed that the abs fuse was blown, and decided to replace it. I replaced it, and the abs module (or pump) started to smoke badly. The car had a heavy electrical smoke smell and I didn't think it was safe to drive for a while. Hyundais have had recalls for abs modules smoking before, but never for a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, and I believe that is something that should be investigated because I believe I could have been injured.

The contact's daughter owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while accelerating from a complete stop, the vehicle jerked, lurched forward, and there was smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving at various speeds. The contact stated that on several occasions, the vehicle failed to respond upon depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that her daughter would pull to the side of the roadway for a moment, then would continue driving; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the motor mounts, the spark plugs, camshaft sensor, and the fuel injectors were replaced; however, the failure recurred. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing abnormal oil consumption. The contact stated that she noticed a puddle of oil underneath the vehicle while the vehicle was parked, on several occasions. The vehicle was inspected by several independent mechanics; however, the source of the oil leak could not be determined. An independent mechanic replaced the catalytic converter; however, the failure recurred. The mil warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine was misfiring and was experiencing an internal failure. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be taken apart for further diagnostic testing and was charged a fee. The vehicle was not repaired. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v652000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that it sounded as if the engine was revving without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the rpm revved between 5,000-7,000 rpms but the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal; however, the vehicle was still losing motive power. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle several times however, the vehicle failed to respond while shifting into drive(d). The contact stated the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and advised the contact that clutch packs 1 and 2 showed dtc codes: p090173 and p090b73. The contact was informed that the clutch packs 1 and 2 along with the clutch actuator and the front brake pads, rotors, and fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 61,307.

Brakes lose of brake pressure when bumps are hit. Reapply brakes to regain pressure engine burning oil issues and overheating issues. This has resulted in my 1. 6 l having engine failure and it is not on the recall list as the 2. 0's and up are. Being that they are the same motor other than the size of pistons and turbo confuses me.
Brakes intermittently malfunction - when issue occurs, brake pedal will loosely sink to floor without slowing the car down and will only engage suddenly when the pedal is pressed all the way to the bottom. Safety of driver, other drivers, and pedestrians are put at risk because the car cannot be reliably stopped. In the latest incident, the driver could not get the brakes to engage and had to swerve the vehicle into the sidewalk to avoid pedestrians. The malfunction occurs randomly, mostly in stop-and-go situations (traffic, stop signs, parking lot, traffic lights, etc. ). Malfunction has persisted for the last 8 months. There has been 3 attempts to fix by the dealership from which the car was purchased - replacing brake pads and rotors, flushing the brake line, and replacing the abs system. The dealership was able to replicate the issue. The issue has returned after every fix attempt and vehicle is with the dealership for a fourth attempt. No warnings or messages have come up from the vehicle to indicate the issue.
Brake pedal depresses to bottom and does not stop the car while traveling downbthe highway.
Sold a 2014 Hyundai Veloster with grinding brakes, acceleration problem, and vibration issues. I was told everything would be fixed. I returned the car within 24hrs. The car vibrates dangerously at 50mph and above. The car hesitates when taking off, trying to pass, or get on freeway. This is also dangerous because cars already going 70mph could of hit us while trying to get on freeway. Sometimes while giving the car gas it would just rev up the rpms without doing anything. This also scared me into returning the car. I went back to test drive the car to see if problems were fixed, and the mi gente auto dealership told me they just replaced tires and that fixed the problem. I told them they can keep the car, because I don't want to keep coming back for same issues. I was threatened with repossession will be added to my credit.
2013 Hyundai Veloster non turbo 39,000 miles catalytic converter failure and engine failure while driving. While driving the vehicle on a rural road, the engine shut down and the car lost power. I noticed smoke from the exhaust when the engine shut down. I was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. Vehicle was towed to dealer where it was found the catalytic converter had failed. It was noted that the engine had a loud ticking sound that it did not have prior to the catalytic converter failure. The engine is going to be replaced with cost share from Hyundai. This is not a unique issue and has been recalled for the same exact same issue in the kia soul with the 1. 6l engine. This issue should be addressed in full by the manufacturer.
I purchased a new 2017 Veloster in may 2018. Beginning in mid August I started to have problems with the car not stopping and the steering wheel locking when attempting to stop. It happened on 3 different occasions. Escalating each time. The first time it happened I almost hit someone in the back. The second time I almost ended up in oncoming traffic going through the stop light. The third time I got into an accident while trying to make a turn and the wheel and brakes did the same thing again. . . Making my car not driveable currently. My car has about 3000 miles on it. Each time this occurred I was on a city street with stop lights. Average speed 35-45 .

This issue happened two day in a row. . I start my car up to go to work, put it in gear and cant move because the rear brakes are stuck, my car is stuck in my driveway causing me to be late for work, I called my local Hyundai dealer and my car does not qualify for the recall that was issued for 4,490 Veloster that year. . If my car doesnt qualify because of some silly VIN number but has the recall issues. . Shouldnt it be included in the recall?.
At approximately 37,000 miles currently and proper documented maintenance and check requests on vehicle, this car appears to not stop as it should while in motion whether at high speeds or low speeds and "surges" and requires a longer stopping distance which is apparent in any driving weather conditions. No obvious signs of brake wear or replacement needs. No indicator sounds.
My car is having problems with transmission and brakes & suspension. Sometimes feels like the car is going to stop if I don't press the gas is really not a good experience nobody like to drive my car they said the suspension is horrible and not a good experience on transmission.
The driver's side wheel bearing began making a roaring sound about 10,000 miles ago. The car currently has just over 80,000 miles it. I went to go replace my wheel bearing and found the axle nut had backed off on it's own at least a quarter of a turn. The nut, you can see where it was supposed to have been locked into place, and that area is moved at least a quarter of a turn from where it is supposed to be "locked in" so it does not spin loose. I just noticed this to determine the cause of wheel bearing failure on 5/1/16. Vehicle noise while in motion on all types of roads. Noise worse in a right hand turn. No accident, no injuries, yet.

Rolled backwards while parked in my driveway twice and vehicle was found out in the road by my neighbors. I was driving it a week ago and my rpm's were tacking really high but could not accelerate speed and I was in 6th gear and it was telling me to shift to 6th then 5th back and forth. Had it checked out at dealership and they said my clutch had abnormal wear and tear but wasn't covered under warranty. They did not check the parking break to see if it was what caused the malfunction of the clutch. The clutch never gave me any problems it was just the car lagged when trying to accelerate speed.
About 10 feet from my parking space, I prepared and aligned my eyes to pull forward into the space. Suddenly, my car accelerated and I jumped the curb, and crashed into my apartment building, without me being able to regain control of the car. Now I've been parking for many years, and I was not impaired in any way, shape or form. How fast must that car have accelerated to what mph? I'm terrified to drive the vehicle. I have noticed the whole time I had the car about a "lurching forward", be it a red light or in line at fast food line drive up. Once it starts lurching forward I'm worried im going crash into the car in front of me in line or at the red light. . Also, sometimes when the light turns green, I hit the gas and the car doesn't go anywhere. Then violently throws the car forward accelerates.
As I was driving out of my parking spot I noticed a hard pull from the rear of the car. I opened the driver door to see what the problem was a noticed the back driver wheel was not rotating. It was completely stuck. It made a tire mark on that concrete. I put the car in park and that is when I heard a loud pop coming from the rear. I also noticed that the emergency hand break was completely loose. It has no pull to it. As if it were completely seized. I had noticed this problem in the hand break a few weeks ago but I did not think it was serious. Also a few weeks ago I was driving around 40mph and noticed a burning/ fire smell coming from the rear. I pulled over and I bent down to smell the rear passenger wheel and that is where the smell was coming from. I will take my car to the dealer to get this serious problem fixed. I know there is a recall for this problem on manual transmission models but not yet on dct models which is what I have. Please make this a recall on all 2012 Hyundai Velosters.
During moderate braking on rough roads the vehicle makes a loud bang. At this time the brake pedal becomes very difficult to depress. This vehicle suffered four flat tires during the 2013/2014 winter in michigan due to pot holes. Two of the wheels had to be replace during one incident. Tire profile is not appropriate for roads in this area. Dealer had vehicle for a week but did not find a problem.
As I was driving on the freeway, traveling down an interchange to another freeway, I depressed the gas pedal. Once I completely let off the gas, I started to apply the brakes. Just as I started to steer into the turn, the steering wheel locked up and I removed my foot from the brake pedal. The car started accelerating and braking on its own, without my application of any pedals. The wheels locked up without me applying the brakes. I was put into a four wheel slide where I was almost ran into an embankment. The wheels then unlocked prior to the possible impact and the vehicle started accelerating and braking again on its own. During this entire time, my steering wheel was still locked up. I was able to put my car in neutral and the car headed to the side of the freeway. The steering wheel was still locked up when I put the vehicle into the neutral position. The convulsions (random braking and aceelerating) stopped once I put the car into neutral. With the car still unable to be controlled and traveling on the side of the freeway, I shut off the vehicle. Once the vehicle was restarted, the random braking and accelerating ceased and the steering wheel was no longer locked up. This could have ended very badly, not only for myself, but for others who may have been on the road at the time.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Veloster. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the brakes, the vehicle took longer than normal to stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. After inspection, they advised her that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The current mileage was approximately 13,000.
Vehicle downshifts to fifth gear when passing but does not return to sixth gear upon releasing accelerator. Vehicle continues at same rate of speed when releasing accelerator as if it were on cruise control. While passing an 18 wheeler on hwy 169 north, I noticed that there was another 18 wheeler approximately 100 feet in front of the one I was passing. With an oncoming vehicle I could not pass both trucks, so I passed the first one and pulled in behind the other one. When I let off the accelerator, the car continued at the same rate of speed forcing me to slam on the brakes to avoid rear-ending the other truck. This vehicle (and subsequently another vehicle on the dealership lot) exhibits this characteristic every time the vehicle goes into passing mode. However, if you back off the accelerator slightly, after about 5 seconds, the car will shift back into sixth gear [but all the while accelerating]. I noticed that you can manually shift the vehicle back to sixth by moving the shifter to manual mode for a split second and then shifting back into "d". The engine rpms will fall back down immediately indicating the shift. Otherwise, the vehicle remains in fifth gear without decelerating for approximately 8 seconds. In my case, the car did not do what I "told" it to decelerate by releasing the pedal. I've spoken to Hyundai and to the dealership and have filed a complaint with the better business bureau because of this design flaw. "control" is the key issue behind the wheel of a vehicle. If someone is not expecting the vehicle to continue at the rate of speed when they let off the accelerator, they could crash into someone as I almost did. Thank you.
Problem with car engine has been recall for several years, brakes have been recall for 2-3 years now my emissions are mess up from recall engine which now I do not have a car to drive, being a heart patient, veteran, it is hard without one and I can't afford a new one I have done all maintenace and everything on my end to keep it going.
