On 1/31/26 I replaced battery that was only a little over a year old. On 2/1/26 while driving myself and 2 of my kids to there grandparents we lost power and lights on dash started flickering. I was able to pull over the side barely. I was told by family after explaing what happend that it could be related to the recall. I called larry h miller Hyundai albuquerque and they verified the recall and we set up appointment for 2/5/26. I was able to tow vehicle to the dealership on 2/3/26. I received a call later that day from martin on why my vehicle was there I explained the issue of loss of power and lights and door locks flickering and I believed it to be related to the recall. I received a text/email with the dealership making recommedations. I refuse them as they were not urgent and not why my vehicle was there. I received a text message 2/4/26 that my vehicle was ready to be picked up and they had ordered the recall parts and was a week out but I was able to pick up. I called mutiple times for 2 weeks to find out more and was never called back. On 2/14/26 I drove to the dealer ship to find out what was going on. I was told they still were waiting for part and when I asked what part they ordered and why I never got a call back I was only told they ordered a "valve kit" which martin had to call the parts dept becuse my vehicle was not in there current service since they were waiting on parts. I asked what about the alternator and they said since I denied any repairs out side of the recall and the battery was an item I declined they did not test the alternator. I asked why they could not charge it as I expressed to them several times it was a new battery. They never answered me. But they told be they had to charge it to get it in to look at it. I said well doesn't that mean the alternator is bad and it needs to be replaced under the recall. After going back and fourth I ended up taking my vehicle and ended up agian on the side of the road with my daughter.

This is related to a repeat failure of recalls 121/197 of the 2011 Hyundai Veracruz. Oil leaks down from the top valve gasket onto the alternator causing a random and erratic electrical disturbance and failure that can happen at any time causing serious risk of safety. With the alternator being damaged in this form also put other potential electrical systems at risk of damage. This is either the 3rd or 4th time of repeat failure. Previous time has damaged the battery. Luckily this time it went out in a parking lot just before was going to drive and had complete loss of power. Vehicle had to be towed into dealer service center. Upon inspection the alternator and valve cover gasket had to be replaced out of pocket as service center claims these are not covered. Tried to escalate the issue to Hyundai motor corporation to be reimbursed and was given a case manager. After a couple days I was told the original 121 recall is to old and not covered under warranty anymore and repairs were already made. I explained that recall 197 is a continuation of the previous 121 and she had to check back with the service center. A couple days later she reports back that they still will not cover the costs as the repairs have already been done before in the past. This time when received vehicle back from service center turns out the steering wheel tilt and telescoping module no longer functions. Costs of alternator $1832. 99 costs of valve cover gasket $313. 31 totaling $2146. 30 that is suppose to be covered due to the recalls. Not repaired because of hassle between service center and Hyundai motorcorp refusal to reimburse anything is the steering wheel tilt/telescoping module quoted at $1096. 06 included photo is taken of the alternator prior to being towed and clearly shows the over time build up of dripping oil all over it.

Component or system failed or malfunctioned: the abs harness connecting to the abs module is the primary culprit. Specifically, the top part of the harness is not adequately sealed, which has led to water ingress and subsequent wire shorting. Availability for inspection: no, the abs harness is available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: the malfunctioning abs harness poses a significant safety risk. When the abs system fails, it affects braking performance, stability control, and traction control. This jeopardizes the safety of both the driver and other road users. Confirmation by service centers: while the issue was previously identified by the Hyundai dealer it was attributed to a short in the tow hitch wire. Unfortunately, the problem was not adequately resolved at that time. The recent appearance of the esc light, abs light, and traction control light confirms that the issue persists. Inspections: the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives specifically for this issue. However, the symptoms (warning lights) have been observed consistently during driving. Warning lamps and symptoms: esc light: periodic flashing and occasional getting stuck. Abs light and traction control light: illuminating after driving, especially during turns or rapid acceleration. These symptoms have been present for an extended period. Cause assessment: the top part of the abs harnesses not being properly sealed has allowed water ingress, leading to wire shorting.
My car broke down in the middle of the highway. I could not move my car. It was stuck in neutral, but still would not move. I had already switched out the battery, but the battery and engine light was still on. I come to find out it is my alternator. And I feel it is leaking into the alternator, making a crash hazard.

We received a recall notice during the pandemic for an issue that previously was a recall. It was repaired but was not a permanent fix. There was oil leaking on the alternator but we were told that they couldn't make the repair for three months due to being so backed up. We understood and put off the repair until they were more caught up. We took our Veracruz in for the repair, which was supposed to be at no cost to us, only to have the dealership want over $2000 to repair it or they said they couldn't guarantee that oil wouldn't continue to drip onto the alternator. We declined the extra cost because the recall was to replace the alternator and install an oil protector. They told us that our vehicle would be ready at a certain time and it wasn't. When we finally got it back they left out parts and didn't let us know they had them but easily located them when we went back to get them. The next morning after we picked up our vehicle it was dead and there was oil all over the inside under the hood. We are not sure that the alternator was changed and no oil protector was installed. We tried contacting Hyundai customer care but after a week of phone tag they told us we would need to contact the dealership that we originally went to and so far they have not responded. At this point we are just frustrated and are ready to get rid of the vehicle because even when we were able to get it to drive it kept shutting off while going down the road making it very unsafe. We are contacting you because we don't know what else to do and if we do find someone to take it, we don't want to put someone else in a dangerous position thinking it is fixed when it is not.

Unknown. While driving on the expressway at 75 miles an hour my esc off light appeared check engine light appeared tpms light appeared brake light appeared and the speedometer dropped from 75 mile an hour down to zero. Reported the problem on or tried to report the problem on January 2 to superior Hyundai south cincinnati received no answer back from service department finally went down three days later was told to leave the car and they would look at it. Ghecked on google about symptoms and noticed there were many complaints about same problem. Repairs anywhere from$2500. 00 to the estimate I received for $4700. 00was told it was anti lock brake pump system. Feel like there should be a recall with so many complaints about this problem.
Hunter Hyundai scheduled intake of my car for recall purposes on December 23, 2021. A little over a month later, they returned the car to me saying the alternator was coming from korea and they did not know when it would arrive. My car cannot be driven and has sat in my driveway all this time. They still don't know when the part should arrive. I feel the dealer has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time.
Unknown. Found oil leaking from somewhere. Don't want to drive.
I have contacted Hyundai motors regarding the recall that was released November of 2020 because my car has became inoperable due to the recall . Oil has leaked into my alternator causing the charging symptom not to work so now the car won’t start . I have tried to find a possible solution until the remedy is available. The recall has been released for over 7 months now . I am not able to financially afford the repairs on this car right now . They told me that I could pay to have the car repaired until the remedy is available. If I needed a loaner car from Hyundai until the remedy was available I would have to pay out of pocket for the expenses . I have not driven my car in about 2 months now due to the issue.
This complaint is for NHTSA recall number 20v-705/Hyundai recall number 197. This recall notice has been out for almost 6 months now and there is still no remedy or any help from Hyundai corporate or local dealerships. My car has been sitting un-useable for the past month because of this recall and no dealership will take my car. I have called Hyundai USA and there is nothing they can do for me. This recall has gone for far too long.
It has been over 8 months after I received 1st recall notice last 11/2020. Hyundai motors America keep sending interim notices only, so I brought my SUV to Hyundai dealership at dublin last 4/2020. The one of mechanic informed me that he couldn't provide recall services since there are no remedy yet. I think it should be enough time to get remedy but they just don't care about customer's safety at all. Thank you.
- oil leaks causing harm to the function of the car. Yes, available for inspection. - the safety of our family was put at risk since we were left stranded at the airport on a late, hot Sunday with a broken car, & a two year old. -the vehicle was inspected by our car shop at c & r, tire: 602-493-5258 17434 n cave creek rd, phoenix, az - the problem has been confirmed by the the important safety recalls we have received in the mail regarding oil leak on alternator. - all maintenance up to date. Hello, my husband and I bought a 2010 hyunday, Veracruz in 2018 before the arrival of our first son. It has been our first family car. Last year we began to receive important safety recall notices (three total). We didn't think anything of it since the vehicle was working just fine and we keep up to date with the maintenance of the vehicle. But then in the fall of 2020 our car troubles began relating to oil leaks. I called the Hyundai dealership for help and was turned away, saying "there was no current remedy". our first bill came out to over $1,200 this past fall (2020). It was a significant amount of money but we were hopeful that the issues had been resolved at c & r tire shop. Less than 6 months later we were at our car shop again due to oil issues and having to make another significant payment of $1,560. 17 on 3/02/2021. At this point we felt very discouraged but once again were hopeful that the car would run well after that. However, we were wrong. on Sunday, April 11th our family of three: my husband, two-year-old son, and I went to the airport to pick up a friend. While we were waiting for her arrival all of the lights in our dashboard lit up, the car died, and we were left stranded at the airport with no a/c and no way to get home. I ended up having to take an uber with my son home and my husband spent hours at the airport trying to find a toe truck on a hot Sunday evening. after finding no remedy, we changed the alternator ourselves and problem is solved.
My altanator has oil dripped on it from the valve cover gasket, which is affecting the charging capabilities. The vehicle is parked in my yard.
Recall 121 completed by southshore Hyundai on 1/15/19. On nov10, 2020, I was driving all my lights went on steering wheel got stiff and just shut down. I called geico had my car towed to my mechanic. He called me to tell me that the alternator was soaked with oil. He replaced the alternator and advised me to contact Hyundai because the oil was from gasket in which they replaced on 1/15/2019. I called Hyundai motor finance company and advised them of the problem. At that point I requested they reimburse me for the alternator in which they denied. They made an appointment for 11/19/2020 for me to bring the car to south Hyundai. I bought my car in. I didn't hear from them so I went to the dealer in which I approached the advisor isiah. He told me at that point the gasket wasn't the issue. They contacted corporate and told them that too. I received a call from corporate denying my claim from my mechanic. I then said to isiah have my car ready I am taking it out of your lot. He said wait in lobby, give me a few. He came to me within 5 min to tell me that there was recall showing for my car recall 197. He said leave the car and I will keep you posted. We texted back and for the finally after south shore Hyundai having mycar in there lot for 2 mos, no loaner they decided to have my car ready on 1/13/2021. Documents states tech removed and replaced valve cover gasket and alternator in good will. I started noticing oil spots on my driveway. I took my car to my mechanic today 3/19/2021 for an oil change. He stated that yes I do have a leak. He questioned what did Hyundai replaced and I told him. . He said absolutely not, the alternator on your car is the one I put in on 11/10/2021. No valve cover gasket was replaced all Hyundai did was put silicone. I have all documents, pictures, receipts and text for my proof of this problem. I fear my safety in car.
One or two years ago the plastic driver door inside door handle broke off. This week the plastic passenger front inside door handle broke. Not good. If there was a wreck and you needed to get out of the car and the door handle breaks you could be in a world of trouble! I don't think door handles should break!! I have the passenger broken door handle.
This is in regards to NHTSA recall number 20v-705, Hyundai recall number 197. This recall began in November of 2020. I received my first of 5 total letters back in December. My most recent letter was received on 5/15/2021. All letters state the same information, that the previously recalled engine seal could potentially fail, causing oil to leak on the alternator. My vehicle is one of those affected vehicles. I have oil leaking onto my alternator currently and have had it for about 8 months. There still is no remedy. It has been 6 months and still no remedy. I have tried to get my vehicle into two of my local Hyundai dealerships to confirm, but both said they won't look at it since there is no remedy available. My oil leak started before the second recall on this issue. My personal mechanic told me that Hyundai should fix it again since the recall obviously didn't work. Hyundai said the original recall was complete, and they won't replace the failed seal again for free. The remedy needs to be found sooner than later, or Hyundai will be replacing alternators as well as seals. There needs to.
Manufactured from December 26, 2006, through July 24, 2012. The affected vehicles may experience an oil leak from the front cylinder bank valve cover gasket. If there is a sufficient amount of oil dropped onto the alternator, the alternator will be damaged causing the charging system to become inoperative. My vehicle was in motion and shutoff while driving on the road.
Front oil cover gasket leaking on to alternator. According to research on my VIN number it was fixed. After reading owner complaints of same model Veracruz it appears to be a reoccurring problem. Which means this problem has not been completely resolved. After trying to crank vehicle at some point earlier this years and was unsuccessful. After further examination oil was visable as well as the smell of oil on alternator. Car later crank with no problem. But oil leak is becoming a problem as it is obvious the leak is increasing.

Every time someone drives through a tiny bit of water on any road, at any speed, the power steering cuts out for like 30 seconds. Loose all ability to safely maneuver off the road. We have to avoid driving this vehicle on rainy days because we never know if we are going to lose steering. It seems like possibly the belt gets wet and slips or possibly something electrical. When this happens all of the dummy lights on the dash start flickering as well. It happens only when the vehicle is in motion on wet road conditions, it happens at highway speed or city speeds as well. This has happened 4 times in the last 2 months.
The car is still having the oil leak on to the alternator like the recall stated. This is my 3rd time replacing my alternator on a brand new car I bought off the lot.
Car wont start, took it in to the shop found out oil was leaking on to the alternator and that the vale gasket it leaking oil. Took it into the dealer 4 years ago to get it fix for the recall. Had the car for 5 years and have changed 5 alternators, and 5 batteries, now that I have put a new battery and alternator again, the car wont start now without getting it jumped off. We have tried disconnectioing the terminal when not driving but that only works sometimes. Called the dealer and they said that they couldn't find anything wrong and that the car was okay even when it wouldn't start in there shop and they had to jump it off and even pitting a new starter on.
Passenger mirror burned. Brought to hyndai, they didnt know what caused it nor can give an answer to. Cant see to pass and get over. Door lock failure on drivers door and key lockong. Will unlock doors but will not lock. Car has been in shop 10 days. Multable dontknow answer.
My was husband was dropping me off at work driving back home which is less than 5minutes from my job on a street there was a loud pop and the driver on the side was yelling the car was on fire he pulled over took my sweater out of the vehicle and put the fire out.
The check engine light is coming on and staying on while driving.
Valve cover gaskets leaking.
A stop lamp switch malfunction may also affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature so the transmission shifter would not be able to be shifted out of the park position. It may also cause the electronic stability control (esc) malfunction light to illuminate, and it may not deactivate the cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed.
This vehicle I purchased is having a leak from the gasket rocker valve cover and it has leaked into the alternator. I'm afraid my vehicle will stop running putting my family in danger.
As of today 3 out of 4 interior door handles on my 2010 Hyundai Veracruz have broken. The remaining door is intermittent due to a defective door lock. From an online search this is obviously a very common problem, spanning several years and models, obviously due to poor design or materials. It is also not one that I care to pay to repair and then have to pay again in the future. Inability to open a door from the inside of the vehicle creates a serious safety problem. In the event of an accident I will need to be able to hopefully unlock the door, open the window and reach the outside door handle to get out. Of course this assumes that power is not interrupted as a result of accident. Without electrical we would be trapped in the vehicle. Additionally, as a man of color, I don't cherish the thought of having to explain to a cop that I cannot exit the vehicle without first reaching outside. This is not the first problem I¿ve had with this car but this is one that Hyundai should definitely recall and repair.
Passenger side interior door latch snapped in two. The vehicle was stationary at the time of the breakage. Safety concern about the jagged edge of the broken plastic piece, as well as the concern over having to exit the vehicle in an emergency.
