On the dashboard and stereo there are no lights when I turn on the cars automatic lights. It seems to be an electrical short. I brought it up to Hyundai because of the recall and they were very unhelpful. I called 15 different Hyundai dealerships in the los angeles area asking for a loaner vehicle which none of them were able to provide for me. After I stated I already have an electrical short, they insisted that my car was not effected by the recall. And they would even write a letter to my insurance company stating that my car was not effected by the recall. They told me to continue driving my car like normal. I feel extremely unsafe and not taken care of by the Hyundai team. They continued to push off my concerns. The dealership has confirmed that the recall does effect my VIN number. However, they said there is no way to find out if the electrical short is from the recall or not. So they want to bill me $225 for a diagnosis. They have no inspected it because they will not do so without charging me the $225 which I refuse to pay for because of their recall. The electrical short problem has been an issue since I purchased the car. I asked the dealer I bought it from and he did not know what it was from. Months later I receive this letter in the mail stating there is an important safety recall on my car and Hyundai won’t do anything about it.

The contact owns a 2011 Hyundai Veracruz. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving, the interior and exterior lights started to dim before the vehicle stalled. The contact had the vehicle towed to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the valve cover gasket had leaked and allowed oil to get onto the alternator. The valve cover gasket, alternator, and serpentine belt were replaced. The vehicle was started and began to shake before stalling. The vehicle was towed back the same dealer but not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 66,564. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I started up the vehicle and had no interior lights. For about 2 months, the lights would not come on upon starting up if the lights were left in the auto mode or initially turning the lights on. Then the lights started flickering during driving and now the lights go out while driving the entire dash.
Battery warning light on, seat belt light flashing. Had to turn off all electrical components (ac, fan, radio, lights, . . . ) and rushed to the dealership. Replaced the alternator at the dealership, where I was told there's a design flaw with oil dripping on the alternator and causing premature failure. I believe such a failure, which would've disabled the car, is definitely a safety hazard under not-so-uncommon conditions, such as at night, in a remote area or unsafe neighborhood. From online research, it will happen again with the replaced alternator since the root cause is not addressed, when in most other cars, the alternator would still be the original.
High and low beam head lights are not adjustable individually. Choice #1=low beam at proper angle and high beam aimed at the top of trees ahead. Choice #2= high beam straight ahead and low beam 20 feet ahead of vehicle. Either way is unsafe. Hyundai knows of this problem but do not want to do anything about even though there is a remedy published in the internet.
