Purchased vehicle new in 2012. Currently at 112k miles. Over the past year I have noticed that when my light dial is in the "on" position and signaling right with the turn signal stalk in city conditions (5-30 mph) my headlights (and dash lights) will flicker off and back on. Light dial is at end of signal stalk and I initially concluded I possibly twist the stalk in a slight nature when driving to cause the issue but later concluded the dial is extremely sensitive to touch. I often keep the light dial in "auto" and usually only have it in "on" during rain conditions. Safety concern is relevant to not being able to see momentarily while turning or oncoming traffic thinking I am flashing my lights to signal them to go instead of me causing us to turn at the same time. Over the past three times driving this week, I have witnessed my lights turning on for about a minute and then back off while in "auto" driving in bright sunlight and no shade (occurred twice in one drive) and no signal stalk manipulation. This event caused me to take the lights to "off" which on my next excursion cause them to flicker on and then off while signaling right in city conditions.

The contact owns a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz. While driving approximately 70 mph, the low beam headlights seized. The contact had to tap the turn signal leveler in order for the headlights to illuminate. The failure occurred every time the vehicle was driven at night. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the turn signal was stuck. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
When I use my turn signal to signal lane changing, but do not snap it into position, my headlights will flicker on and off and will also turn off for several seconds. Additionally, I noticed during the day time that my dash board lights were brightening. I've reported the dashboard lights brightening on several occasions to the dealership while my car was in for service from 2009 to the present, but they weren't able to repeat the problem. Most recently, likely because I was driving at night, I noticed my headlights flickering on and off. I called the dealership to report it as it was happening and talked to the service representative and told him that my headlights just went off and then they came back on. I brought it in the following week. I found the same issue reported by many other people on a Hyundai forum. Several people reported that the issue was with the turn signal stalk and replacing it fixed the issue. I shared this information with the Hyundai dealership. This is a very concerning problem, as I go for seconds at a time with no headlights at random times, but always after using my turn signal.
Vehicle continues to have the same problem to this day. During a turn (left or right) at night when the turn signal is activated the headlights go out. Only jiggling the turn signal stalk will restore the headlights. Problem also occurs during signaling for lane changes at highway speeds. Problem has been reported to the Hyundai dealership. No suggested action has been offered to date.
