Three problems related to other fuel system tank mounting have been reported for the 2004 Infiniti FX35. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My fuel indicator did not register a full tank and would fluctuate randomly while driving or stationary, so I never really knew how much gas I had. I couldn't us the the fuel economy/miles to empty calculator because it seemed to be basing miles to empty on what it was registering, not the amount of fuel actually present. It all of the sudden fixed itself, and now the same problem has returned again. It seems to be a fairly common problem from what I've read - why no recall????.
I do see multiple other owners with the same issues. Please find my issues here. . . . . . . Issue 1: the gas gauge improperly represents the fuel level in the tank and the following issues are constantly present: 1) a full tank is never shown via the gauge 2) the gas gauge sporadically jumps around regardless of the amount of gas in the tank 3) the "empty" light comes on when there is as much as 1/2 tank of gas. This is very dangerous for me as this is my family car and I have a 2 year old son in my vehicle a lot and what if my car would stall out on the highway?? it is a good thing that I am able to keep calculations on the amount of miles per gallon my car usually gets. I was going 30 mph and turned from a light and didn't realize my gas was as low as it was and my car stalled out, luckily I was able to get over to the side of the road. Issue:2 the locks fail to react to the lock unlock function and the beep sound doesn't go off.

After turning the ignition switch the engine will just rev without full ignition of the engine. It seems as if gas is not being provided by the fuel system during the ignition sequence. The fuel pressure of the tank seems to be the malfunctioning issue.
