1 Cruise Control problem of the 2005 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 05/28/2006

I am a cautious driver, not a rabbit start-and-stop kind of driver. I accelerate slowly and decelerate slowly, and hardly ever revved up my engine. I have been driving since 1963, and was never involved in any serious accident, I. E causing injury to myself or others. I took delivery of the 2005 Infiniti fx 35, VIN: jnras08w95x 205810 on Dec. 21, 2004. Since then, I have had a major problem with my 2005 Infiniti fx 35 twice, that was unexplainable sudden acceleration, without my foot touching the gas pedal, once when the vehicle was still new (under 1000 miles), and once at 21,384 miles, on may 28, 2005. I was with my wife (only passenger) both times when this happened. Fortunately, both times, the car was at very low speed (about 10 mph), and without any car in front or behind us. It was a terrifying experience to try to keep the car under control, so in both times, I had to (1) put on the brake to control the car from surging ahead. (2) put the car into neutral, with the engine still revving. (3) shut off the engine. (4) started the engine again and continued to drive. I was very scared both times. I made sure, both times, that the gas pedal was not caught by a rug or similar external reason. The first time after this happened, I brought the car to the dealer, atlantic Infiniti in jacksonville, FL 32225, and they said they could not find anything wrong with the car. Note: I also do not use the cruise control, as it was suddenly decelerating the car without encountering any car or other object in front of it. This happened a couple of times before 5000 miles, so I do not use the cruise control at all. In summary, there seems to be some hidden problem with my 2005 Infiniti fx 35 with uncontrolled acceleration and deceleration, most likely a defect in the computer chip controlling acceleration and deceleration.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2006 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 04/30/2006

After driving about 20 minutes, the intelligent cruise control starts to malfunction. It first will shut itself off randomly. From there it gets worse, reactivating the cruise control causes the car to sometimes "see" cars that are not there and applies brakes to stop the vehicle on the freeway, or even worse (and more often) does not "see" cars that are there and continues to drive on a collision course, until I'm just feet from the cars bumper and hit the brakes. If I do not take action the car will crash into others. I tried to get this repaired, but Infiniti has not been able to correct it and I am attempting to get it repaired again on my 3 month old 2006 Infiniti fx 35. This has been filmed on video tape and has happened dozens of times. This could easily cause injuries or death - a copy of the dvd can be sent if requested.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

While driving with the cruise control on, the vehicle would accelerate over the set speed. The vehicle did not remain in cruise control after shifting to a lower gear.
