3 Power Train problem of the 2007 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Vehicle was driving at 55-60mph, immediately lost all power and rough engine shake on the highway. Managed to pull off to the side. Opened the hood to find the catalytic converters both smoking and glowing red from excess fuel being dumped into them due to a very common and well known bad grounding issue. Worried they would cause a fire I evacuated my family and call a tow truck. After having the car examined the Fx35 has destroyed all 6 ignition coils which was causing gas to be dumped into the catalytic converters. It also destroyed both catalytic converters and possibly the computer, the car is still being looked at. Had we not stopped I fear the car would have started a fire from the excess fuel and burning/melting of the catalytic converters. Not to mention is was very dangerous to have the car lose all power on the highway. This is a very commonly known problem and very unacceptable to have an issue known like this not be fixed by a simple grounding wire issue.

4 Power Train problem of the 2012 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 08/23/2017

I reported my vehicle is a whining noise coming from the engine. I took it in for a diagnosis. The technician informed me that no codes were detected; however believes it is the alternator. The car has 39k miles. As a previous owner of a 2011 Infiniti, I believe this is a manufacture defect as I am the second owner and driven it for less than 6k. I initiated a claim with nalley consumer affairs to no avail; the representative stated that there is no listing of what is covered under warranty. Claim # 28141832. I have requested that the regional manager contact me.

7 Power Train problem of the 2009 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 11/11/2015

While driving on the highway, the gears stall on the 2nd gear and power cuts off from the engine. This has occurred 3 times on highways. Turned off the car and restarted with no engine response. Did this 2 more times and engine restored power. Engine stalling is common with daily driving and cuts off when in 2nd gear. Infiniti dealership has attempted to reflash the transmission but nothing has been resolved.

8 Power Train problem of the 2010 Infiniti FX35

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

On Saturday, may 30, 2015, I experienced three anomalies with my Fx35, during two cycles (engine off). The weather was fair, with partly cloudy skies and a temperatures in the high seventies. At about 10am, when the vehicle was started in the garage, it had an unusually high rpm which I noticed as it was shifted into drive so I could pull out. I always back my vehicle into the garage, so it lunged forward with a strong jerk. Although I thought this was odd, I headed to costco in sterling va and had no further problems for the time being. After shopping at costco, I started the vehicle at around 11:15am and headed home on route 7 in sterling virginia. While approaching the red traffic light in front of the nova campus, I applied the brake. There were autos in all four lanes, several deep, in front of the vehicle. As I was perhaps 10 car lengths away and decelerating, the vehicle engine began to increase in rpm. I had to use my left foot and right foot to apply maximum pressure to the brake pedal and even then, the vehicle was not beginning to slow down. With less than 3 car lengths left to go, I had the good sense to put the gear shifter into neutral. At that point the tachometer raced to 9,000 while the vehicle came to an abrupt stop, with about 5 feet to go behind the car in front. I punched the accelerator pedal while still in neutral, and this stopped the engine racing. I thought to proceed home anyway. I put the transmission into drive and proceeded slowly with the vehicle down a busy route 7 toward mclean. A mile and a half later, while coming into another intersection, I experienced the same unintended vehicle acceleration. Again I put the transmission into neutral to avoid the likelihood of an accident. Again, I punched the accelerator pedal while the vehicle was still in neutral, and this stopped the engine racing.
