36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2013

I recently got a used car from my friend, but the climate control doesn't work on the car. The problem has been a long time, but I noticed this after getting this car to me from my friend, but she said she has had this problem for long time. The specific problem is that the audio panel doesn't work, the climate panel is with the audio panel, so the climate control does not work at all. So I cannot control my climate in my car, so the front and rear window defroster all the time, it is really hard to drive. When I checked this problem with dealer and on the web, it is really,,common problem in this year and this kind of car, but the company doesn't have recall for this problem, so the dealer said it costs more than $1,000 to change the panel and to fix all problem. This doesn't make sense at all. Please check this problem, and correct this, thank you for reading my concern,.

37 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2013

Driving hazard b/c of not being able to control the climate, particularly the front and rear window defrosters.

38 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2013

My entire center console gradually stopped working. The ac/climate control is always on full-blast (no way to adjust it or turn it off). The radio does not turn on or off. The garage controls are not functional. None of the lights appear on the dashboard. After speaking with two local dealerships and looking up information online, I discovered that this seems to be a very common problem with this year, make, and model. 9/10 times, the complication apparently goes away after replacing the audio unit. Estimated cost of parts/repair of the audio unit at the dealer is $800. If this doesn't work, I was told it's usually the circuit board, which also costs around $800.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

Stereo doesn't work all of a sudden. . . Then the ac turns on high level at 60 degrees. ? it doesn't turn off. My concern is that in winter when the front and rear windows are fogged up I cant heat them up to clear them which is a safety hazard. . I don't understand why there's a recall on the sedan for the exact problem, but not the coupe. . Thanks.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/10/2013

Electrical control panel failures caused total lost control of air condition and audio system. It is very dangerous to drive at night or bad weather due to front and rear defrosters are not operational. Until fatalities occurred and reported, car is highly recommended not operated at night or under bad weather. This problem is known as common problem with thousands of first model of G35. Unfortunately, Infiniti will not take responsibility for it but willing to fix for high cost. Owners takes their own safety risks if cannot afford to pay the high cost of replacement from Infiniti dealers. Also, there is a risk if owners try to replace the circuit by buying and installing cheaper aftermarket panel from any car radio/repair shop. Infiniti should think about safety of their customers and their reputation.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2013

The electrical system that controls the ventillation system has failed. There was a recall on some 2003 G35 for the identical problem but this car was not included. There have been numerous reports of similar failures on similar cars for this year. Infinity claims that the failures were limited to cars manufactured prior to this one. This car was built in September the recall was for cars built before that time. The failure is significant in that the defogging and defrosting systems do not opearte.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

I can no longer control the a/c or defrost of my car, which impairs my ability to see out my windshields. All the buttons in the center console are inoperable because of a circuit board malfunction. Since I cannot control the defrost, I cannot pass the state safety inspection. Dealer says it will cost between $1300-2000 to fix. There was a recall on my car in 2003 and Infiniti says they replaced the part in my car so this fix would be at my own expense. This is not a common problem in cars under 100k miles -- only in this make/model. Online discussion boards are full of 2003/2004 G35 owners with the same problem. This is an absolute safety hazard -- especially for those who can't afford to pay $2k to fix a circuit board problem.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2013

We purchased our son an Infiniti G35 coupe for graduation. We were very pleased with our purchase and to see his eyes light up was priceless. After a week or two of having the car, the radio stopped and the entire electric console shut down except for the air, which is on full blast with no option to turn it down or off. My husband spoke to one of the Infiniti dealers who told him that there was a recall on that model for the four doors only and the sedan would be almost $2000 to repair. I called corporate and explained the situation and though they are aware of the issue through numerous complaints, they are basically not willing to do anything for the G35 coupes. I spoke with kelly with consumers affairs and asked what we were supposed to do since this is a hazard for our son and she said, "well that would be at your discretion to let him drive. " can you believe this? she said take the car to our nearest Infiniti dealership and pay for a "diagnosis test" and then call them back, but, since this is out of warranty there is probably nothing we will do. . . . How can they refuse to deal with a major problem like this and then try to stick the repair cost to us?? this is a safety hazard as the air cannot be turned down or off and is constantly blowing into the drivers eyes which impedes their vision. It also affects the defrost and heat which is inoperable. The entire console is out!!!.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2013

Vehicle momentarily lost power and dash instrument lights went on (slip, vdc off, service engine soon). The ipdm (intelligent power distribution module) was replaced by the dealer in December 2011 for the same problems. My research revealed that this is a common problem with this model and year. Separately, high mount rear stop light no longer works. Research indicates this is also a common problem.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2013

Controls for audio, including on steering wheel, and controls for temp do not work. This car was made one month after cut off date for recall on this component. I would like to get this repair from Infiniti at no charge.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Air conditioning/heating controls running full blast with zero ability to control. This is a safety issue as windows cannot be defrosted in the winter. Radio not working. Infiniti corporation is not warranting this issue, but refers customers to local dealerships.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Third brake led lamp stops working and randomly comes back on. This also happens in almost every other G35 sedan I have seen to date.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Stereo audio cut off and a/c turned on to full blast. Console controls and temperature controls stopped working. Turned off car then on to see if it would fix the issue, but once it was on the a/c turned to full blast again and controls don't work. This issue has my motor running harder bc the a/c is on causing my car to overheat while driving uphill. Ever since the controls have not worked constantly for over a year.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2012

The controls on my center console where the a/c and radio are stopped working. The radio turned off by itself and came back on less then a minute later but none of the buttons were illuminating. My heat went from 77 degrees on the lowest setting on the face vents, to 87 degrees on "auto a/c" to the highest setting and switched to the foot vents. It has done this before, but it has always "come back to life" if you will, within 10 minutes. It has now been like this for four days, blasting cold air into my car on 33 degree days. I understand Infiniti recalled the board that they poorly designed only on the sedans. This board design is definitely a safety issue, living in the midwest, and being my only mode of transportation. When winter hits, and temperatures really fall, and my car is only blowing out cold air, and worst of all on my feet, I will not be able to defrost my windows properly. It just does not make sense to me why Infiniti would recall a part in one car that is the exact same in another it just has two doors. Its like paying someone to paint the inside of your house. The reason you chose them is because you found them to be loyal and trustworthy. Come to find out the painter only painted half of your house and took a few valuables on his way out. I just hope a lawyer sees some good money in a class action lawsuit because I know I do.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2012

Started car, radio would cut in & out , I lived with it , until in may 2014 the a/c & radio would cut in & out , sometimes if you restart it would fix the problem , today it was 94 degrees out , the a/c after several tries would not work . Very frustrating!!.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the climate controls failed and visibility was reduced because the contact was unable to defrost the windows. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the electrical panel circuit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2012

Common problem with the G35. Audio finisher controlls the climate control system and stereo. Doesnt sound like it is dangerous but it is! no ability to use defrost in thunderstorm yesterday and had to pull over numerous times. Called Infiniti today and their recall does not cover my VIN. They offer a goodwill replacement if you buy another car etc. Car is not safe and I will not pay infinity $1500 to repair when they effectively concede they know there is a problem with the design and it is dangerous.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2012

As I was traveling down the road, my a/c turned on by itself and my radio display went away. I was unable to turn off my a/c or control my radio. None of the buttons on the center console worked.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/06/2012

Intermittent loss of control of front window defogger, rear window defroster, radio, a/c. This happens randomly while driving causing loss of visibility in cold or rainy weather. This problem started happening on rare occasion but the frequency is getting progressively worse and now happens almost every time the vehicle is driven!.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

The radio will not come on. Cannot operate ac or heater. No defrost. Cannot operate from steering wheel. Ster cd player not working.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

My audio and climate control system have completely stopped working. I have no control of the rear or front defroster which is a serious safety hazard. Infiniti issued a recall for the problem however my car wasn't covered even though it is the exact same problem.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

While driving my car the radio completly cut off and the air conditioning came on at full blast. . . I cannnot control anything on the dash such as climate defrosted or turning the darn thing off. It is a safety concern because it was raining and my window were all fogged up and I couldnt clear them. I could not see out of my front or back windows. I have read many complaints online about the samething some will be hurt if Infiniti doesnt do anything to resolve this. I have no clue to why they havent recalled or recalled only a few of this car to fix the problem. It seems to be the norm. If you call the dealearship they will only charge you a mint to replace the part that will only break again. Please help before someone is hurt or killed.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

The audio and temperature controls do not operate as expected. When using the audio equipment or the temperature controls, the unit becomes inoperative. There is already a voluntary service campaign for this, however Infiniti told me that our car's VIN number does not qualify even though it's the exact same situation and identical year/make/model of car.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

The system controlling the ac and the radio completely stopped working and there is no longer any way to control it. All the power windows quit working as well. With so many reports would be nice if Infiniti took some responsibility and addressed the issues.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2012

The radio and a/c controls became inoperative on a 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe. Safety issue is the inability to use defroster or rear window defroster as necessary. A search of the web indicates that hundreds of people have the same problem. Infiniti recalled some 2003 sedans for this very problem, but no coupes. The coupe uses the exact same system as the sedan in terms of radio and a/c controls. . This recall identifies a circuit board as the culprit, and the board was replaced free for some 2003 sedan owners. This is a real problem with potentially deadly consequences.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2012

The audio and temperature controls become inoperable because of a known issue with the audio finisher circuit board. My temperature was stuck at 90 degrees at maximum output, with no possible way to shut it off. There was a voluntary recall for 2003 G35 sedans with this issue (Infiniti recall # p31040), but not for coupes. From online research, there appears to be numerous cases where the same issue has occurred on 2003 G35 coupes, but Infiniti refuses to accept responsibility for repairs, because the VIN #'s were not part of the original recall. I believe this is a safety defect that constitutes a recall for any G35 model with this known issue.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2012

Infiniti G35 ac and audio panel not working, as thousands of others are experiencing. Cannot drive the car in inclimate weather due to the inability to control the temperature or engage the defrost so I can see out the windows. Very dangerous - threat to my safety as well as other drivers around me. It's the audio finisher circuit board that has failed. The dealer just wants to install a new radio. Either of these repairs will be at my own expense. Unable to get Infiniti consumer affairs to assist in any way whatsoever. VIN not covered under the voluntary recall campaign - falls just out of range. Every one of these cars have the same faulty components. Unclear why only a select few vins were recalled. Thousands of us have complained. Why is nothing done about this issue?.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2012

The radio will turn off by itself and turn back on a few seconds later. All of the buttons in the center console become inoperable. The a/c controls also become inoperable and turns on by itself. It just doesn't turn on though, it turns on 90 degrees and starts blasting out. This is a safely issue because as a driver we never know when this air is just going to start blasting out at us like fire. If Infiniti is Smart enough to recall the sedan, they should do the same thing with the coupes. It is clearly a common problem among the '03-'04 models. If they want to keep their reputable name they will do what is right.

64 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

The ac/heat controller stopped working. The ac was stuck at full, at 60 degrees which created mist on all of the windows. I was not able to turn on the defroster which made my driving dangerous.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2012

The contact owns a 2003 infinti G35. The contact was driving 45 mph when both the air conditioning unit and radio powering on and off intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified, but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 84,000.

66 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

The contact owns 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the air conditioning system and the electronic sound system failed due to a defective circuit board. The air condition would not blow cold air and the radio could not be turned on. The manufacturer was contacted but denied assistance with repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 251,300 and the current mileage was 251,900. Updated 04/23/12.

67 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/07/2012

Buttons of a/c and infotainment control panel (audio board) in center console does not work. Also there is no display of infotainment system. Illumination still works and dimming as well, radio control via steering wheel switches still work. Due to a/c can not be changed or controlled, front defroster or rear defroster will not turn on. Nissan/Infiniti dealership noted "replaced audio board per service bulletin. Radio did work but then stopped. Replacement of audio board is 1st step, if problem continues audio unit must be replaced. " they replaced "audio board" to correct the issue as service bulletin recommended but it did not correct the issue. Reman-audio unit costs $1997 at dealership.

68 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/25/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that the radio failed and the air conditioning could not be turned off. The failure would not allow the contact to turn the heat on either. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by the radio failing because the radio controller was connected to the heater and air conditioning. The failure and the current mileage was 136,000.

69 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2011

Infiniti has completely left behind owners of the 2003 G35. They had a voluntary service campaign to fix the 'audio finisher' but all they did was put a band-aid on the problem. They only fix the problem once, then the problem continues to happen about once a year. They obviously did not set up the radio/ac controls properly when they originally made the car, which is exactly why you won't see this problem with the 2004 model. Now all they say is that it's my problem to get it fixed. This is a severe safety issue for some people, because we cannot use the defrost. Infiniti tries to charge about $1000 each time this problem recurs. It is ridiculous and sad to think that they expect us to pay this fee about once each year while we own this car. I would not be surprised if someone has already died from a car accident because they could not turn on their defrost in adverse weather conditions.

70 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2011

My Infiniti car's(g35 2003) radio/ac controls have failed. I can only operate the radio from my steering wheel control. ( cannot operate the ac/heater. Luckily it is winter time and is stuck in auto mode at 68 f) it seems that Infiniti had a recall for audio controller card failure in 2003 -itb03-007b service campaign -voluntary service campaign 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan; audio finisher circuit board for about 26 000 vehicles, but, based on no of complaints floating on the web, there are lot more cars which are facing this problem. Prior to this problem I have had the cd error fo problem ( complete cd failure). Infiniti has installed faulty radio/cd system and they have taken their customers for a big ride! the NHTSA should take this up seriously as this failure could potentially can be fatal , especially when driving in extreme conditions-hot or cold weather , with small kids/infants, in an isolated region.
