Infiniti G35 owners have reported 13 problems related to carrier/rack (under the equipment category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The dashboard of the coupe 2005 Infiniti G35 is melting and becomes sticky regardless of cleaning. Today I noticed that the dashboard has become cracked and compromised, which may lead to an airbag issue down the line. Aside, from the airbag, I believe this materials could be hazardous as they must be of low quality to "melt" when it isn't in much sunlight. The vehicle is always garaged every day and has only around 70000 miles. I believe there should be a recall to replace the dashboard. Upon looking at forum and pictures from other Infiniti and Nissan owners, it looks as though I am not alone. Please investigate further.

Recently I was traveling on the freeway, not under an overpass and there was no one in front of me. I rolled my window up and shortly after that there was a loud crashing sound of shattering glass, I look in my rearview mirror to see that there were a ton of black specks coming from my car. I cracked the sunroof cover slightly only to find a shower of glass and a hole in my roof where the sunroof used to be. I closed the cover back up so I wouldn't get anymore glass in my cabin or on me, found somewhere to park and inspect my vehicle. I found that the glass had shattered upwards (air pressure maybe???) either way, this should never have happened, I am now terrified of having a sunroof because why wouldn't it shatter again like that? it was one of the single most traumatizing events that have ever happened, I couldn't even imagine what it would have been like if the cover was open! I could have got little glass shards in my eyes and the outcome could have been extremely worse.

Car's dash gets sticky and shinny when exposed to direct sunlight. Once sticky and shinny, it gets reflected on the front windshield obstructing my visibility on the road. This condition started about 7 months ago, noticed it after parked outside under direct sunlight. Contacted the local rep and was informed I had to pay for the dash replacement as the manufacturer is not recognizing the problem as one to be covered under recall. There was a previous dash replacement on this vehicle; the original one was replaced on 2011 after spotting two hairline cracks on it (in that case it was covered under warranty).

Passenger airbag not active when a passenger is seated. Sometimes it comes "on" on his own while driving. Also the dashboard melt when the car is parked under the sun. Especially here in texas with high temperature. Dashboard cracking with high temperature. Toyota and Mazda fix this for free for their customer but Infiniti wanna charges us for that.
The dashboard on my vehicle is starting to crack everywhere and near the air bags I looked up the problem and it seems a lot of Infiniti owners are getting the same thing on their dash together with some stick liquid.

Cracks around the dashboard of the vehicle.
I am unsure of the original date that I noticed. I did call my local Infiniti dealership to inquire about a recall and they stated that there was none. My dashboard has melted and is cracking in several spots. I cannot clean it and it is extremely sticky so everything gets stuck to it.

Driver seat has a lot of movement/play (loose) everytime brake is applied seast moves foreward causing the driver to move along with it. Seat is bolted tightly possible track malfunction. This problem occurs constantly weather vehicle is stationary or in movement.
The dashboard is cracking and melting. The dashboard is melted so bad in some spots that the dashboard can't even be cleaned. The cracks in the dashboard are starting to get worse each day. I am afraid that the cracks will become so severe it will eventually affect the driving safety of the vehicle.
Melting dashboard first noticed about 2 years ago. This year is has gotten a lot worse and many cracks in the dashboard expanding. Difficult to clearly see out of the windshield due to the glare produced by the shiny melted dashboard. Infiniti unresponsive.
Despite being garaged since it was purchased 13 years ago, being well cared for (single owner), and low mileage (just turned over 92k), the dash has multiple cracks extending the entire width of the vehicle. These started to appear about 6 years ago and have continued to extend and worsen.
Sticky dash board and cracking.
2004 Infiniti G35 with only 47000 requires 1 1/2 quarts of oil between 3000 mile oil changes and Infiniti states that this is normal. Also rack and pinion steering had to be replaced. Car still under warranty, but Infiniti refuses to check oil usage.
