Hood Latch Problems of Infiniti G35

I ran over a dog which did bumper damage and some damage underneath the vehicle. While there was no damage above the bumper, the hood latch release, letting the hood fold back over the windshield. The hood was destroyed, both front fenders damaged, the roof dented, and the sunroof damaged. I was doing 70 mph when the hood covered the windshield! the body shop and insurance adjuster said the hood latch should not have released.
