Infiniti G35 owners have reported 9 problems related to latches/locks/linkage (under the latches/locks/linkage category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driver's side door lock actuator failure. It appears many problems have been reported with these door lock acuators on Infiniti owner websites and forums and the manufacturer (Nissan) has failed to initiate a campaign on this product. The replacement cost for the actuator is $149-$220 with 2 hours labor at rate of $120 per hour.

The drivers seat on 2004 Infiniti G35 rocks. Local dealer gives me the run around and wants me to pay $1200 for a new seat even though this is a well known/documented defect and should have been covered by warranty. I was still under warranty when the issues was raised but they stalled until the warranty expired. This is an important safety issue that Infiniti is not handling it properly given the part involved is only about $130 tops. Service bulletin num : itb02080 date of bulletin: ? type: coupe and sedan component: driver seat summary: driver seat rocks if you confirm: the driver seat cushion feels loose; • "rocks" back and forth and/or makes a "pop" / "click" noise. €¢ usually when the vehicle accelerates from a stop or when making a turn. Action: replace the front seat lifter link bracket assembly with a new one-p/n 87463-am501.
The driver side door lock actuator stopped working completely. One month later the passenger side door lock actuator stopped working. One week ago the driver side window regulator also stopped working. These issues are known defects to Nissan/Infiniti, yet they do not care to address these safety issues.
I have 2003 Infiniti G35 sedan. Driver's seat rocked back-and-forth. Took it to Infiniti dealer who stated that the driver's seat frame assembly had separated due to faulty weld joints! dealer stated that the driver's seat frame assembly seat was not covered by any warranty or recall. Dealer also stated that if I didn't pay the $1,100. 00 to have the driver's seat frame assembly replaced and I was in any kind of car accident, the faulty driver's seat frame assembly would cause the seat to become completely detached from the car and cause the seat to be thrown about inside the car. I therefore paid to have the driver's seat frame assembly replaced. However, a couple of days ago I noticed that the rocking is starting again! clearly there is something wrong with the driver's seat frame assemblies that are coming directly from Nissan, which owns Infiniti! in fact, according to NHTSA website, other Nissan cars from 2003, like the 350z are having problems with the seats! clearly this is worthy of some time of investigation or recall since the NHTSA has on file a lot of complaints and service bulletins on this same issue from Nissan cars!.
The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. While in the process of purchasing a new safety seat for her 3 year old, 42 lbs. Son, the contact was unable to find out the correct weight load for the tethers and anchoring latch. She could not determine the correct weight needed to attach the latch system in the vehicle using a child safety seat. She would like to keep her son in the five point harness seat, but was unable to determine the correct seat to purchase because the latch system could only hold up to 40 lbs. The manufacturer stated that they had no information regarding the anchor, tethers, or load rating for the latch system. The VIN and mileages were unknown.
The hood on my 2004 Infiniti G35x failed at the hinges. The hood is now elevated above the line of the windshield and will not close. The failure was not due to an accident. The hood was merely opened, and the hinges failed. I am concerned hat the hood will open or fly off at highway speed or be pushed into the interior cabin during an accident. The local dealership and Infiniti refuse to fix the hood under the applicable warranty even though this is an obvious safety issue. My research into this hood issue has uncovered other owners with identical failures.
Rear-end collision. Result: death of driver in car hit - 2005 Infiniti G35 2door. Spare tire assembly had been changed for this model year. Factory installed bolt securing spare was too short. On collision spare tire launched by impact through the rear seat striking and killing driver. Subsequent model(so had longer bolts or different bolt structure. (details unknown) VIN is available at Nissan; car was totaled. Owner was driving.
