Fuel gauge inaccuracy caused me to run out of gas on the interstate. I was travelling at highway speeds when this occurred. There was sufficient time and space to pull over to the shoulder. Contacted virginia state police. They dispatched a highway safety patrol vehicle that gave me enough gas to reach a gas station.

Fuel gauge does not work . It never goes below 2/3 full and could cause the car to run out of gas. If this happened when on the freeway it could lead to a dangerous situation as steering and brakes would be affected along with avoiding other vehicles if car lost power intraffic.
Fuel gauge does not show accurate information. Cannot fill gas take full anymore. Will only hold approx. 6 gallons. If car runs out of gas without proper warning may cause bad accident. There should be a recall on this matter immediately.
Car ran out of gas twice. Was informed the first time that gas sensor was defected so it was replaced. The second time, last week, it ran out of gas and was told tha the unified meter assembly needs to be replaced for $940. This make and model car seems to have defects in oil consumption as well as defective fuel gauges. According to this site, the fuel gauge problem was addressed by Nissan, however, not all vehicles were repaired.

Fuel gauge reads inaccurately causing vehicle to run out of fuel. Very common problem on this model across the years of 2003 - 2006. Nissan has addressed the problem with some of their models, but not all. If vehicle runs out of fuel, it can disable the vehicle causing increased steering effort and possibly a crash.
I am having a major issue with my 2005 Infiniti G35x which has a flawed fuel level sensor gauge. I have read in many forums of people having the same issue and filing a complaint. It is a serious matter, the meter sometimes reads full but is actually close to empty. This can lead to an engine shut-off on interstate and expressways and pose as a major hazard to me and other drivers. I believe Nissan/Infiniti should offer a recall or drivers should be reimbursed for any repairs that there car will undergo to fix the problem. . Thank you.
The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti G35. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph. The fuel gauge failed to display an accurate reading at any speed being traveled. The failure occurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The dealer and manufacturer were notified which there were no resolutions. The failure mileage was 56,000. The current mileage was 80,000.
