Infiniti G35 owners have reported 44 problems related to vehicle speed control (under the vehicle speed control category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Infiniti G35 based on all problems reported for the G35.
Car has unintended acceleration that can only be stopped by turning off ignition key. This happens without warning. When stopped and foot on brake car accelerates to top rpm then brake goes to floor resulting in no control of car.

Runaway acceleration. Three times now in the last two weeks the rpms went to maximum redline without my foot on the accelerator pedal. Fortunately all occurred when I was at very slow speed and either in a driveway or a parking lot. Each time I immediately put the transmission to neutral and shut off the engine. For the first occurrence, restarting the engine all went back to normal. But for the second instance, two weeks later on restart the engine again instantly went to maximum rpm (deep redline). On a second restart, with additional delay before attempting a restart, the problem cleared. I took the car to a mechanic and they said no error diagnostics were recorded. On test drive he said he noticed some brief unexpected surges. He said for liability reasons no way he would work on the car. No warnings, no instrument indications, car does not seem to "know" throttle is at max redline.

While driving, my Infiniti g-35 looses engine power and the engine shuts off while driving without notice along with sudden lack of power steering. My service engine light stayed on when I started the vehicle back a short time later. Several cars had to swerve from hitting me. I was able to make it to get a diagnostics and it's saying crankshaft position sensor/ camshaft position sensor. The engine shutting off while driving start happening other times same way. This happened on the expressway and main roads. This could have caused a major accident. My airbag light is also flashing red and highlighted passenger airbag light off in yellow near clock. Engine shutting off due to crankshaft sensor with airbag malfunction. Engine also shuts off at stop lights.

The car idles when taking off even after warming it up. . . While cars are passing me by. It acts like it wants to cut off while in traffic. It was raining on the passenger side. I can't even filled the car up with a full tank of gas. Only had the car for 3 weeks and the service engine soon light come on. Took it back multiple times and still not fixed.
Wreckless driving.

2004 Infiniti G35 lost power when driving. Service engine soon light as well as vdc lights are on. It is hesitant to start after that. Has happened at least one time each during the last three times the car was driven. Major safety issue as the it has happened when turning at a major intersection. Luckily we were able to coast the car to the side of the road. Same issue exist on the 2003 G35 in which there was a recall for, but none exists for the 2004 models. Contacted infinit in which I was told there was no active campaigns for my model, except for the side airbags. Was told that this would be treated as a repair (subject to very high dealer costs) and not a recall. I have found many other post on the internet with the same issue for the same model and the same complaint that it is not addressed by Infiniti. How has Infiniti verified that this does not exist in other model, especially being so close the 2003 and 2004?!? this is a major safety issue.
The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G35. The contact stated that while turning on the vehicle, the engine revved and the vehicle accelerated without warning. The contact attempted to apply the brakes however, the brakes failed. The brake pedal fell to the floorboard. The contact crashed into a building and the air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was towed. A police report was not filed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The front-end of the vehicle was severely damaged. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
The contact owns a 2004 infinit G35. While driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and suddenly decelerated to 10 mph as the service engine light illuminated. The contact coasted to the emergency lane and shut the vehicle off. The vehicle restarted and the failure persisted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 208,000.
I'm astoundingly concerned about the safety of this vehicle. This is the second 2004 G35 I've owned and the first one I purchased brand new, owned 9 years, drove 230,000 miles and had none of these issues/failures when it was sold to a happy new owner . . . Although it was a G35x. This is how I know these are in fact failures/defects in this second one. This vehicle has not experienced any recent damage or known problems, yet the last few days every time it has been started, the airbag light is remaining lit for an extended period of time before it decides to go off on the dash. It lingers and then finally goes out. It has been very rainy and humid here for an extended period and we are a state targeted for takata recall, but this vehicle is "not one" allegedly. I fear for my safety! there have also been 2 different incidents of performance failures while driving at low speeds (fortunately) where the car has completely shut down, the dash lit up with the vdc slip and other lights, no steering was available and I was stranded in traffic during rush hour. This is very dangerous. The car would not restart temporarily and I had no choice but to sit until it would restart. This was a danger to myself as well as others. This never happened in my other g with over 230,000 miles on it. The rear passenger window also decided to lower and raise itself on its own. It was taken to the dealer for this issue and the problem wouldn't replicate, of course. The 3rd brake light has been out since around 115,000 miles. Never failed on my G35x in the 230,000 miles. This is an obvious defect on this one and all the other complaints I read. An led shouldn't fail like this or all these others I read. When it's a dealer only item and costs approx. $400 to be installed ~ it should be a recall. Please investigate these issues and help us. I've had 2 . . . Here's proof. .
I was driving on the highway at 55 miles an hour when unexpectedly, the car starts to make some noise then it completely shuts down the motor, the check engine light comes on, vdc off, and slip lights all came on. I tried to restart the car, and only after multiple attempts (about three) did the car start. There is no warning. The auto repair facility ran a diagnostic and the code they got was the cam sensors needed replacing, which cost me $650. They said they have been replacing a lot of these. It's very prevalent. They informed me that the 2003 model of the Infiniti G35 had arecall for the same problem.
Car accelerated after coming to a standstill in parking bay ran over curb hit a tree. And went down an embankment. The passenger airbag deployed but the drivers side airbag did not.
Hello I purchased a 2004 infinit G35 sedan from star max in orlando FL east colonial drive ive only had it 3 days tops , first of all I left and the gas gauge isn't working or the speedometer , also my radio keeps going in and out my left window seems to go up and down when it wants too, my tire pressure lights on and my cars making a very funny roaring noise in the back. Also when I go to make turns ,my wheel just keeps turning on its own and hard to turn back straight it locks up . And I believe there may be a fuel pump issue as well ive spoken to several sales men there and complained saying I need to fix things the right way or I need a different car im paying $325 a month way out of my budget on a buy here pay here car that's not even worth it at this moment in time. Please someone help me I need to do something about this fast!.
As I was accelerating to access highway, I was not able to accelerate my vehicle. It was as if I was running out of gas. I kept pressing the gas pedal and it slowly started to accelerate and seemed fine. A few minutes later when I was sitting at a red light, the car died. I put it in park and restarted and it was fine. A few days later the same thing happened as I was in the carpool line at my daughter's school. Car was running, while I waited and it suddenly shut down. When I restarted, the check engine light was illuminated and remained on. I checked my manual and thought it could be the gas cap wasn't on tight enough or bad gas. Filled up my tank and a few hours later check engine light went out. Today the car died as I was pulling into my driveway, however immediately restarted. Researched recall information and contacted Infiniti and was told my vehicle was not part of NHTSA campaign number 03v455000.

Driving 70 mile in fwy my car engine just shut off completely I almost died out there because of cars behind me. I calmly changed steering wheel to right side of fwy with left over speed after 5 of vehicle behind me almost crashed me and each other. Turn off engine and started engine few time and it worked so I sent my car to shop and they said it's a 2 of sensor prob. And while he was moving my car, driver side seat switch button was on fire! fire! what is going on. I would have been killed out there if not for god. I see a lot of people complained on sensor prob with engine shut off, isn't this dangerous to drive???? risking all of people's lives????.
1. Car was hard to stop when braking for a light 2. Car accelerated on is own when entering driveway had to slam on brakes 3. Checked around the pedals for any thing that may have caused this. Nothing was found so I took the car for a test drive. And when I slowed on my street prior to turning into my driveway the car took off on it's own again. I had to put the car in neutral to stop it. When I did the engine redlined by itself.

I had pulled up to drive thru window at the bank and put my car in park, with the engine running, when I finished my transaction I tried to put my car in drive but the gear shifter wouldn't move. I finally shut my car off and waited a few seconds and started it again and the shifter worked. It has also happened to me when I have started my car and tried to put it in reverse. It is intermittent. I also have an air bag sensor light flashing and hope they will include my VIN # in the recall but they haven't so far. Even in the expanded recall. I don't know why. When does our safety become important? my stereo/cd player also stopped working and I had to replace that. What good does all of these repetitive complaints do if the auto companies aren't made to repair all of them?.
Fax letter from constituent regarding problems with his 2008 Infiniti G35; seeking help in trying to get Infiniti to admit there are other complaints with the same vehicle as his. The consumer stated when he came to a stop, the engine would surge. When he applied the brake pedal, the vehicle surged even more, and the vehicle would then start to shake.
I own a 2007 Infiniti G35 coupe. In August 2013, while driving at approximately 40 mph, the engine stalled without warning. This occurred in the middle lane of I-95 rush hour traffic. The power steering was out as well but I was able to pull my car to the shoulder. The vehicle was unable to restart after multiple attempts and was towed to the a repair facility. They were able to start the car with next morning without issue. Ran diagnostics and no code was indicated. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. In July 2014, while increasing driving speed from approximately 20 mph - 30 mph, the engine stalled without warning and the power steering failed as well. The vehicle was able to restart after multiple attempts.
While driving at any speed it will suddenly go into "slip " mode. The service engine, vdc off, and slip warning lights come on, the accelerator stops functioning and the engine coasts. This is extremely dangerous in traffic. There is an active campaign that I have included below on the same vehichles the previous year and some from 2004. When I contacted Infiniti multiple times about my vehicle with the same problem they refused to include my car. Summary: on certain passenger vehicles, the circuit board for the crank position sensor or cam position sensor may have an improper solder joint due to solder deformation caused by heat stress accelerated by the existence of flux residue during the soldering process. Consequence: this could cause the "service engine soon" warning light to come on, create a no start condition, cause reduced engine power, or cause the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation, which could result in a crash. Remedy: dealers will replace the crank position sensors. Camshaft position sensor(s), and in some cases, the variable timing control sensor(s). Vehicles involved in a previous recall campaign, 01v357, are also included in this new campaign. The replacement sensors used in that campaign are also affected. Owner notification began on December 22, 2003. Owners should contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261 or Infiniti at 1-800-662-6200. Notes: Nissan recall no. R3022/Infiniti recall no. R3021. Customers can also contact the national highway traffic safety administration's auto safety hotline at 1-888-dash-2-dot (1-888-327-4236).
Driving slow in traffic jam, press on gas car died, just cut off. Without warning. No warning lights previously or during.
The vehicle that I have done so much research on is the 2003-2006 G35 which I own now has a issue with the clutch pedal sticking and getting stuck during driving situations which to me is a very horrible hazard for us if do to high miles on freeway and clutch sticks to the floor, which had occurred to me and made me panic and almost had causes a accident realizing that it had got stuck and I had to yank it out the bottom of the floor. I feel this should be a extreme issue to you guys and should be notified immediately to infinity dealerships so that this can be taken care of. I have looked all over and to many others who had the exact same defect as my vehicle now.
I was on the side of a mountain road when suddenly the car started shaking and I lost engine power as well as power steering. All engine lights turned on. I looked this up, and it seems like many people have had this problem so there was recall on the Infiniti G35 sedan, but interestingly not on the coupe. The recall is regarding the camshaft positioning sensor. I had my car towed afterwards to my mechanic and he verified the problem was this sensor as well. This car failure was very sudden and extremely dangerous.
2007 Infiniti G35x premium 4dr accident on March 13, 2011 in parking lot of a church; after I parked the car, before changing the car to park and takeoff the seat belt to go to church. The car went out of control; accelerated, and I was unable to stop the car. I tried the brakes … and it just kept speeding up forward, towards the church building which may have killed the attendees of the church service. I finally tried the steering wheel to the right which worked, hit a tree, a car and van that were parking in front of church and finally stopped the Infiniti. As of now insurance & Infiniti dealer checked and reported the car body damages, did not check any software speed control malfunction. They want me to approve the fixes. I want a true investigation about the speed control issues of this model of Infiniti G35x 2007. Kindly update me with your recommendation --------- I found similar cases on the net. . . Read more...
2/16/11 Infiniti G35 (2004) put into drive and car would not accelerate above 10 miles per hour, drove 14 miles at that speed. Next morning drove to repair shop, not Infiniti dealer, and showed problem as code #p2128app sensor 2 circuit and #p2138app sensor> performed learn procedudre for computer. Car was then able to drive at normal speeds.
I own a 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan. The vehicle hesitates/stutters/surges when slowly accelerating from a stop. This mainly occurs when the engine is cold (after a cold soak). The failure occurs while turning or driving forward and was noticed at 5-30 mph and rpms are between 700-1800. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on numerous occasions and they "could not duplicate failure. " this is dangerous as the vehicle engine surge could cause a collision.

Consumer has experienced car a few events since early '10 of vehicle being reluctant to stop, even when brakes were applied down to the floor. The last event occurred today (9/18/11). Today's event was more scary than the previous events, in that the car accelerated far ahead of our destination and could have possibly hit another driver, if a driver had been present. The brakes are functioning properly and are not worn. At this point, I am gravely concerned about this malfunction, and it feels like I am at great risk of having an unavoidable accident.
Was driving my Infiniti G35 2003, while passing a vehicle going slow my accelerator went to the floor, beyond my control, I hit the gas pedal hard with my right foot while panicking trying to release it. I was coming to an intersection I had to stand on my brake pedal. I don't know how fast exactly but it was over 100 mph. It happened very fast, I did try to put it in neutral but missed and hit reverse I then went sideways and my car made some very weird whining sounds. I then shut off the ignition. I should've done that first but in that situation you just panic. After coasting to a long stop I started it again. Same thing still 8k rpms, pedal still at the floor, I shut it off and inspected my pedal it was stuck to the floor. No floor mat grabbed it (like infinity insisted happened) and I am 150 percent sure I did not depress my pedal then or ever to the floor for which it could stick.
I was driving my sister-in-law to macarthur airport in islip, NY. We came to a red light just outside the airport. I took my foot off the gas pedal and put it on the brake pedal, but I felt the car was still trying to move as though there was another foot on the gas pedal. Fortunately it was not that much thrust involved. I kept pressing harder on the brake, but the car kept inching forward at about 2 mph. I wasn't sure if I could stop before hitting the car in front of me (fortunately I always leave lots of room). So I put the car in neutral. Because my foot was pressed very hard on the brake, there was a sudden jerk as we stopped suddenly. Luckily we all had our seat belts on. It has not happened since. I don't think there is anything wrong with the pedal. Maybe there was some type of electrical interference from the airport that messed with my car's electronics?.
2003 inifiniti G35 sedan lurches forward when car is stopped. The car accelerates until brakes are severely depressed. This has occurred at stop signs, stop lights and in my garage. This problem is a dangerous issue. My car has been damaged due to this issue.
The contact owns a 2003 Infiniti G35. While approaching an intersection at speeds of 55 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle began to abnormally accelerate. She attempted to apply pressure to the brake pedal to no avail. A pedestrian was in her path when she forced the vehicle into the park position to avoid hitting him. Immediately, there was a sudden and abnormal increase in the engine rpms accompanied by a loud noise. She shut the engine off and restarted the vehicle and within a few moments, the vehicle was functioning normally. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. No repairs were made. The manufacturer would not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 78,000.
After backing out of a parking spot, foot was on brake, shifted into drive and the car accelerated into a 360 degree spin. It hit a retaining wall on the side and the building behind it which brought it to a stop. As this developed there was zero control of the car and the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. It took Infiniti 11 days till they checked the black box and 15 days more till they told me that there was nothing wrong with the car at the time of the accident. There was $8000. 00 in damage to the car that was purchased on September 29, 2008 and had approximately 800 miles on the odometer.
The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle accelerated inadvertently. The driver swerved and crashed into a tree. The driver sustained major injuries to her ribs, sternum, and had stitches in her knee. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a junk yard. An automotive engineer inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that there was substantial front end damage, including the engine compartment, caused by the failure of the electronic throttle control system. The throttle control mechanism was crushed between the engine assembly, on which it was mounted, and the firewall. The current and failure mileages were 27,000. Updated 12/08/08. Updated 12/09/08.
2007 Infiniti G35s (purchased March 2007) accelerated out of control when owner attempted to park car in work parking garage. Owner turned into space then backed car to straighten out car in the parking space. When owner put car in drive to complete the parking, car accelerated out of control and crashed into concrete wall. Driver airbag deployed. Owner had to crawl out back door due to the force of the impact which slid car into the parked car on passenger side and driver side door stuck from damage. Insurance had Infiniti check black box and claimed no fault/problems with car. Took 30 days to fix car. $15,000 worth of damage to car, $2000+ known damages to other car.
The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti G35. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle jerked forward when the brake pedal was depressed and accelerated slightly. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The current and failure mileages were 34,000.
