1 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2024

Light blinks for (no airbag on passenger side) working. Light also blinks on dashboard showing no airbags. My car has just over 76,000 miles with meticulous maintenance and no crashes, accidents or even bumps. There are countless complaints, inquiries and threads on the internet regarding the above mentioned problem. I don't know if anyone has taken the time to make an official inquiry but it requires your scrutiny. The fix is a new seat and or an old one that the components still work. There are countless people drivng this vehicle without airbags. We need a fix that won't cost $10,000 (estimate from dealership). Also, where can one find a seat??? inifinity needs to provide a fix that allows the airbags to function properly without the consumer having to find a new/used seat (and none are available nationwide). The modules are a mere $200 but integrating them into a seat is impossible, so the "fix" is a new seat. This problem exists as the cars age. I project that all inifinities with this style seat have, or are going to have, the same problem as they age. If not, what remedy did infinity offer in its newer models, leaving the rest of us driving death traps, with no means or opportunity for safely find a "fix". Attached is a copy of the scan from an auto body delearship regarding the lights.

2 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2024

Front passenger air bag occupancy sensor failure. Sensor is located on front passages seat and activates or deactivates passenger air bags based on occupancy and or weight. The vehicle has less than 90,000 miles. Passenger airbag/seat belt warning lamp on. Passenger airbag off indicator light remain on even when passenger seated. Repair cost estimated over $5,000. Vehicle will not pass inspection.

3 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12k miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was b1018 (occupant classification sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08v521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. Please investigate this problem. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?.

4 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2023

The passenger airbag does not work. The light on the dashboard indicated it needed service. When I took it into the dealer, they said it was $7,000 to fix. (more than the car is worth for resale. ) after some research, I’ve come across complaints about this on multiple sites & comment boards. This is a serious safety issue. I can no longer have passengers in my car (such as my children). Something has to be done.

5 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2023

At only 35,500 miles on my 2009 G37 the passenger safety air bag sensor light continues to blink. Forums are filled with same 2009 passenger safety air bag sensor problems. Infiniti will not cover. Suggested repair is $6,050. 00.

6 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/31/2023

This vehicle has been in our ownership since July 2011, making us the second owner. Currently there is approximately 92,219 miles on the car. The airbag light began blinking without any incident or accident. We took it to the local dealership this week. We were told the occupant sensor failure code b1018 was the issue. Per their words on our invoice "cannot get sensor from Infiniti. Will need seat bottom to correct the issue. " the estimated price for this repair is $6,400. I noticed the same problem was reported in the 2007 and 2008 models, and these models were recalled. So now I have no airbag protection which makes this a safety issue. I have spoke with Infiniti corporate office regarding this issue without any assistance in resolving the problem. In my opinion this is a manufacturing defect just as it was in the 2007 and 2008 models, and should be recalled.

7 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2022

My dad gifted his 2009 infinity G37, which he purchased new, to my daughter. It has ~50,000 miles. One week into driving the car the air bag sign started flashing. Diagnosis indicated a b1018 error. Infinity of escondido confirmed a failed OCS sensor for front passenger seat. Replacement cost: part $4100 bottom cushion with frame + $650 labor. Since the car has been hardly driven since originally purchased by my dad, it is clearly a case of a defective sensor, also considering that infinity G37 2007 & 2008 model years have been recalled for the same issue (recall # 08v521000). The entire airbag system in the car has been disabled due to this faulty sensor - this should fall under federal safety mandate and infinity is refusing to assist. Called their consumer affairs department with case elevated to regional manager (case # 47724192) making a request to at least meet me halfway through cost of parts - their answer is sorry "no". Such complaints are prevalent across the internet with stories similar to mine and infinity is not taking responsibility.

8 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2022

Single owner G37 sedan diagnosed with error code b1018 after reporting a flashing passenger air bag light that suddenly came on. Service provider unbolted seat, disconnected occupant sensor component, cleaned all connections, reconnected and secured so that connector couldn't move. Tried to erase code but unable to do do. Was told I would need a new bottom seat cushion and frame at a cost of approx $3-4k (not including labor). Advised to look at nhsta for recall information for myself as technician indicated there is no recall for my vehicle. My prior car was a G37 sedan which did have a recall for the exact same issue and it's illogical that this one does not. In reviewing this site, more than 50% of the complaints for this vehicle are tied to the air bags and I stopped reading other complaints when the first five I read all had the exact same issue. Namely, that the light came on suddenly without cause and the only way to correct it, was to replace the seat and sensor. Personally, there is rarely a passenger in my car and the only logical conclusion is that this part is faulty and the original G37 issue was not corrected. Subjecting consumers to the significant repair expense and more importantly, the inherent safety issue a faulty air bag can create, the manufacturer ought to bear the responsibility to correct.

9 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/03/2022

A recall was issued for a faulty passenger side airbag sensor on the infinity G37 model year 2007 -2008 (08v521000). I own a 2009 G37 and it would appear this car is experiencing the same safety issue. The airbag off light for the front passenger seat remains illuminated even with a 200 pound adult seated in it. I also have a constantly flashing airbag warning that is displayed on the dashboard. I am extremely concerned that should my vehicle be involved in a crash, passenger side airbag will not deploy even though there is someone seated in that seat. Infiniti has stated that to repair this issue will cost over $5000 which is nearly the entire value of the car. This recall should be extended to additional model years of the G37.

10 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

Car got a flashing airbag light after battery replacement. Reset multiple times just for light to come back. Took to mears Nissan dealership for diagnosis. Diagnosed with bad occupant detection sensor. Dealership quoted me $4,500 for part without labor. Perfectly good car no longer has operating airbags, my personal safety is now at risk because the cost of repair is greater than the cars value, and the part is on back order for an extended unknown period of time. Vehicle is available for inspection. No other lights at time of incident.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2022

On my 2009 Infiniti G37, the supplemental airbag warning light keeps flashing. I was told by the dealer that the problem is the sensors in the seat cushion and the cost of fixing it is $7,050. 00. I asked if that was a common problem and they said yes. This light just start flashing one day without any apparent cause. My issue is that there should be a recall on this since this affects so many of the Infiniti g series. This is a problem that so many owners face and it is not caused by wear and tear or accident or any disturbance whatsoever. In my case, my right front seat is seldom used. I searched the internet and visited the Infiniti forums and well as facebook and other platforms and the number of Infiniti owners with this woe are many. I honestly think this happens due to some manufacturers defect and if there is an accident, the appropriate airbags may not deploy so this is a potentially dangerous situation. Infiniti needs to issue a recall for this item.

14 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

The seatbelt light started flashing and wont turn off.

15 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

In 2018 dash and passenger airbag light illuminated. Took it to dealer and was told that occupancy sensor in passenger seat needed to be replaced. In 2021 dash airbag light flashing and passenger airbag light off illuminated. Code determined occupancy sensor. Cost to repair basic car safety feature $7000. 00 which is prohibitive.

16 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/11/2017

My 2009 Infiniti G37 convertible has developed extensive cracks of the dash covering the frontal air bags. My safety concern is that the dash part would not respond as intended by designers during an airbag deployment, and cause injury to the vehicle occupants in spite of the expected airbag safety function. For instance, injury could be caused by dash splinters, detaching easily in correspondence of existing cracks, being thrown at large velocity towards vehicle occupants in the event of airbag deployment. One can readily imagine how dangerous these splinters would become, like darts delivered at ultrasonic speeds they could kill or permanently injure people. Infiniti already has a 10 year unlimited mile warranty for the seat belts, another safety-related function of a vehicle design. They should extend such a warranty to airbags, as well as associated equipment that may operate tightly, or be altered by design, in conjunction with an airbag deployment. G37 dash cracks are a well known design defect of G37 models, a simple online search will show that. The least Infiniti should do is to make sure that such a cosmetic and functional defect would not also constitute a dangerous safety hazard.

17 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

The airbag of the front row passenger seat turns off even there is an adult passenger sitting on it. I've searched online and did some diagnostics, and based on the flashing pattern on the console, it seems the problem is with the srs (safety restrain system) OCS (occupant classification system), as such even an adult is sitting there, in an accident the airbay may not be deployed. This is a very serious threat to the safety of a passenger. Note my car has never been involved in any accident or collision. . Read more...

18 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Nissan/Infiniti should recall the 2009 G37 airbags along with the others they have recalled. There is an issue with cracking melting dashes on many of the 2008/2009 dashes that may affect the ability of the airbag to deploy. My dash is cracking and melting (this also affects visibility) and Infiniti says this is the responsibility of the individual. They know this is an issue as they extended the warranty and replaced the dashes of the Infiniti fx models. Thank goodness I haven't had a wreck where my airbag has had to deploy, but why wait until it's too late. The 2009 Infiniti needs to be included in the recall not only for the airbag, but the dash needs to be included to as the visibility is an issue with the glare from the melting dashes.

19 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2016

The airbag control module stopped functioning and triggered a fault message which the auto dealership diagnosed. No incident has occurred other than my airbags being nonfunctional. Is this part of a larger airbag problem, or an isolated problem?.

20 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2006

The material the dash board is made of melts at normal temperatures compromising the integrity of the dash board and visibility (it's reflective).
