Front passenger air bag occupancy sensor failure. Sensor is located on front passages seat and activates or deactivates passenger air bags based on occupancy and or weight. The vehicle has less than 90,000 miles. Passenger airbag/seat belt warning lamp on. Passenger airbag off indicator light remain on even when passenger seated. Repair cost estimated over $5,000. Vehicle will not pass inspection.
I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12k miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was b1018 (occupant classification sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08v521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. Please investigate this problem. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?.
Car got a flashing airbag light after battery replacement. Reset multiple times just for light to come back. Took to mears Nissan dealership for diagnosis. Diagnosed with bad occupant detection sensor. Dealership quoted me $4,500 for part without labor. Perfectly good car no longer has operating airbags, my personal safety is now at risk because the cost of repair is greater than the cars value, and the part is on back order for an extended unknown period of time. Vehicle is available for inspection. No other lights at time of incident.
The passenger airbag light is blinking due to a faulty sensor contained in the passenger seat. If this light does not turn off, no airbags will deploy in the event of an accident, which is a huge safety issue. Infiniti charges more than $7000 to replace the sensor and the seat to fix this out of warranty. Infiniti refuses to do a recall for this issue which has been found to be very common in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.
I turned on my car in my driveway one day and the airbag light was on. It turns out that the passenger seat sensor has gone bad in my car. The car has been taken care of and has 50,000 miles. This seems to be a very common and expensive issue and should be a recall. Not to mention that if you're in an accident and have a passenger sitting in your car, their airbags will not deploy resulting in serious injury.
Airbag sensor was blinking on my dash after starting it in my driveway to drive to work. I took it in to an infinity dealership and only to find out it was a seat sensor to be replace with only 40k miles on the vehicle. The part alone cost $6340. 00 which isn't worth fixing. I wasn't told of any other option and seems to have happened a lot with other owners and no recall of any sort is to be issued.
Car has 59,000 miles and airbag code reading b1018 of a faulty passenger occupant sensor. Dealer was $4,000 just for the part. The car is valued at roughly $9,000.
In 2018 dash and passenger airbag light illuminated. Took it to dealer and was told that occupancy sensor in passenger seat needed to be replaced. In 2021 dash airbag light flashing and passenger airbag light off illuminated. Code determined occupancy sensor. Cost to repair basic car safety feature $7000. 00 which is prohibitive.
The car has 48,300 miles on it. There is a constant flashing airbag warning light on the dashboard when the car is on, whether driving or just parked. It flashes whether someone is seating in the seat or not. The light indicates an issue with the airbag/sensor in the passenger seat.
Airbag warning light are blinking. Dealer says seat sensors have malfunctioned and airbags won't deploy correctly in a wreck. They want over 6500 dollars to repair. There is a Nissan recall on these parts in other models and the forums are full of G37 owners with the same problem but sine this model is not under recall, we have to pay to repair. This model needs to be added to the recall list. 71k miles, 100 % garage kept. No reason this should malfunction.
The contact owns a 2009 Infiniti G37. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the front passenger air bag warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Infiniti of memphis in bartlett, TN where it was diagnosed that the air bag seat sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
