1 Seats problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 04/30/2025

My passenger airbag light is on and when I reported it to Infiniti, they told me it was the airbag sensor in the seat and that the entire seat would need to be replaced for a cost of over $2000. 00. I understand there was a previous recall for the previous years, but not for 2010 models. In speaking with other Infiniti owners, I understand this is a common issue with the G37. Why has there not been a recall issued?.

2 Seats problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/16/2025

According to campaign p8243, ref itb08-045e, nthtsa # 08-521, my 2008 Infiniti G37 has a warning blinking light for the passenger airbag. I contacted the national consumer affairs dept of Infiniti and they said that my VIN # did not indicate it has a recall. I was quoted $5000 to replace the seat by other mechanical shops, but my vehicle is not worth that anymore. Please advise. Thank you.

3 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/26/2024

I purchased this vehicle, 2012 Infiniti g 37xs in September 2023. The vehicle was basically brand new with less than 2200 miles on it and I have driven it very little up to that point, October 2024, as it is not my primary vehicle. Around [xxx], I believe it was around 8100 miles and change on the vehicle, a warning light came on my dash regarding my passenger airbag. Since that date, I have worked with plaza Infiniti in creve coeur, who has looked at the vehicle a few times and identified that there is no part replacement other than oem that can fix this issue. However, the part has been discontinued. Today, I reached out to Infiniti directly, and with a sad heart, they refuse to even listen to me. Now, I have a vehicle that has a safety issue and no way to fix it. The part number 87300–1nl6a, is the lower seat assembly for the passenger side of my 2012 Infiniti g 37xs. This part also has the occupant sensor which is directly affecting the airbag. The sensor is not replaceable separately of the lower seat assembly. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/28/2023

I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12k miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was b1018 (occupant classification sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08v521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. Please investigate this problem. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?.

6 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/20/2023

Passenger side air bag sensor flashes possibility due to faulty sensor in passenger seat. Water enters cabin on passenger side causing water to pool on floorboards, possibly causing electrical damage and failure. Water entering could be due to flawed design in water channel or sunroof.

7 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/05/2023

I have been having issues with my passenger airbag warning light. The issue is warning light will not go out. I took my vehicle to an Infiniti dealer for a diagnostic. Dealer found code dtc b1018 OCS unit failure. Much to my disbelief and, dealer recommends new passenger side air bag diagnoses module and lower seat frame before further diagnosis. What really angered me was the price to repair a safety issue on this vehicle that wasn't caused by an accident or repair . The quoted module price was $1275. 00, price for lower seat frame is $7695. 00. Note, this is the price for parts and didn't include labor. At that point, I didn't ask what the labor cost was because I was flabbergasted and taken aback by the the excessively high price for repair. After reading 100's of forums, many are having the same issue with their Infinities and other Nissan vehicles. Infinity and NHTSA must be aware of this massive problem and Infiniti/Nissan needs to correct this flaw in engineering at the companies expense. We as consumers who pay a lot for these vehicles should be protected. My concern is I have lupus and arthritis and have chronic pain daily and need my car for numerous doctors visits. Since my health diagnosis I haven't been able to work the past seven years and can't afford to pay over $ 9000. 00 to fix a otherwise good running vehicle but also can't afford to get into a car accident because the airbag will not deploy. Since I do have an illness, a car accident without a working airbag system my injuries or worst would be exacerbated by this Infiniti/Nissan flaw in engineering. Please advise as I need assistance with getting my car repaired.

8 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/10/2023

I’ve owned this 2012 G37 for a few years and had no issues whatsoever. However within the last couple of months, my air bag light came on and has been flashing since. I’ve taken it to get inspected and had the system checked and was told my passenger seat occupant sensor malfunctioned and is throwing the code on. The sensor itself, very easily replaced, is unable to be bought by itself. Repairs by the dealership is well over 5,000 for the seat and labor. The sensor is being sold as a component part of the bottom build of the seat, and cannot be sold otherwise. The issue with the sensor not being active, prevents the activation of the passenger airbag regardless of the seat being occupied or not. My concerns are that I won’t be able to safely commute with passengers on the road and also being able to pass state inspection, as needed per law per state. Without this sensor, driving is an everyday peril, a safety concern a driver has no control over with other vehicles on the road. There has not been any prior incidents that have occurred that could cause this electronic issue.

9 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/28/2022

My passenger air bag light started suddenly flashing on the instrument panel while a passenger was in the seat. The air bag light sensor shows the air bag isn’t on, even when a passenger is seated. This causes concern because if an accident occurs, it is likely the air bag will not deploy as it appears to be disabled by the sensor. The has been a widely reported problem and should be recalled due to faulty sensor.

10 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

Car got a flashing airbag light after battery replacement. Reset multiple times just for light to come back. Took to mears Nissan dealership for diagnosis. Diagnosed with bad occupant detection sensor. Dealership quoted me $4,500 for part without labor. Perfectly good car no longer has operating airbags, my personal safety is now at risk because the cost of repair is greater than the cars value, and the part is on back order for an extended unknown period of time. Vehicle is available for inspection. No other lights at time of incident.

11 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/28/2021

I am writing the complaint to inform you and request an investigation into the Infiniti advanced air bag system (aabs) passenger seat sensor. I recently purchased a 2011 Infiniti G37x sedan with approximately 62,251 miles on June 28th, 2021. This vehicle has had one owner prior to me and has a clean carfax report with no issued accidents or collisions reported, based on the overall evaluation from an independent repair shop. The main issue experienced with the G37x vehicle and the reason for the manufacturer should create a safety recall was the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning, as verified by an independent mechanic. I have experienced other vehicle manufacturers issue voluntary recalls and repairs because these passenger occupancy sensors may degrade and fail to detect a passenger in the front seat. This appears to be a very common recall issue. The fault code presented from the odb-ii confirmed to be the air bag seat sensor was malfunctioning and required to be replaced/repaired completely, or all the airbags would not deploy at all to the passenger and both the driver. I am therefore requesting that Infiniti/Nissan north America to investigate and note this experience/issue with the air bag seat sensor and issue a recall for this particular issue to the owners of such affected vehicles. I deem that there is a risk of many vehicles that are having a similar issue with the seat sensor which will cause the air bag system to not function properly in the event of an accident or collision when the air bag would needed to be deployed.

12 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

There is a water leak rage from the sunroof. My car gets soaked in water and it's not preventable. Creates a smell and mold.

13 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

The passenger airbag light is blinking due to a faulty sensor contained in the passenger seat. If this light does not turn off, no airbags will deploy in the event of an accident, which is a huge safety issue. Infiniti charges more than $7000 to replace the sensor and the seat to fix this out of warranty. Infiniti refuses to do a recall for this issue which has been found to be very common in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles.

14 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/17/2020

Airbag light illuminated; Infiniti dealer said need to replace both front seats at cost of $15,000 to fix (replace) faulty airbag sensors. Low mileage 2011 vehicle (62,199); no accidents or problems that caused the airbag light to illuminate. Dealer says airbags will not work, and only fix is replacement of both front seats. Online search turns up many Infiniti owners with same issue.

15 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

I turned on my car in my driveway one day and the airbag light was on. It turns out that the passenger seat sensor has gone bad in my car. The car has been taken care of and has 50,000 miles. This seems to be a very common and expensive issue and should be a recall. Not to mention that if you're in an accident and have a passenger sitting in your car, their airbags will not deploy resulting in serious injury.

16 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

The air bag sensor on the passenger seat has failed and the passenger seat does not recognize even an adult person sitting on it. As a result the airbag-off light for the passenger is always on and I am afraid if the rest of the airbags are working properly due to this faulty sensor. I looked up online after my sensor failed and it seems like this is a common issue for G37 vehicles. The only option to fix the problem is to replace the entire seat at a cost of anywhere from $6,500 to $8,500. My wife is afraid to ride in the car with me for fear the airbag will not deploy. There was no warning prior to the light flashing on the dash.

17 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 03/05/2020

Airbag sensor was blinking on my dash after starting it in my driveway to drive to work. I took it in to an infinity dealership and only to find out it was a seat sensor to be replace with only 40k miles on the vehicle. The part alone cost $6340. 00 which isn't worth fixing. I wasn't told of any other option and seems to have happened a lot with other owners and no recall of any sort is to be issued.

18 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/11/2019

Faulty passenger airbag sensor. Infiniti is aware of the prevalent problem but will not issue a recall. The passenger air bag is deactivated even with adult passengers in the passenger seat. This is a major safety issue. I took the vehicle to the Infiniti dealer for repair and they said it would cost $9,000. 00 to repair. This is an outrage and several other owners have experienced this same issue.

19 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 10/23/2019

Infiniti G37 convertible year 2012, with 11,400 miles (secondary car very low miles) displayed passenger airbag error/will not deploy airbag in a crash. The car was started and the display light never went off and has stay on every since while driving. Took the car to westhouston Infiniti service one week later and was told a sensor was bad and that the entire seat would require replacement at a cost of 6k (my seat is almost brand new). I questioned why I should have to pay for what is surly a design flaw and the price is outrageous. I decline as that price was not doable and contacted Infiniti consumer affairs who listen to state issue and sent an email that no assistance would be given due to warranty had expired. I can't afford to replace an entire seat for a sensor. I'm trying to understand why this is not their responsibility as I know others with the same issue. My firm position is no car company should be allow to require consumers to bare the burden of poor engineering.

20 Seats problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 06/15/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Infiniti G37 convertible. While driving at an unknown speed, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Infiniti of coconut creek (located at 5501 w sample rd, coconut creek, FL 33073, (954) 773-8594) where it was diagnosed that the lower section of the passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,500.

21 Seats problem of the 2013 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

Air bag sensor fault in passenger seat. Air bag sensor does not work correctly, causing airbag to be inactive for all occupants of passenger seat. Infiniti does not offer a sensible fix. The only way to repair is to replace the entire seat ($8000). This is a safety issue that should be under warranty no matter the age of the car. I have found repeated evidence of this occuring often through looking at forums and websites that own this model and year.

22 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 04/14/2019

My passenger seat weight sensor is malfunctioning going on and off at various times into the drive and various weighted passengers. This seems to be a very common problem on my 2012 G37 sport and the seat (sensor cannot be changed out so have to buy the whole seat) ranges between $5000 and $8000. This seems to me to be a safety issue, what were to happen if any one of us having this issue were to get into an accident with a passenger? from what ive read the passenger air bag will not go off with this light on so therefore my passengers safety is at risk because of a very common issue from infinity. Light goes on and off even sitting stationary.

23 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/29/2019

Car has 59,000 miles and airbag code reading b1018 of a faulty passenger occupant sensor. Dealer was $4,000 just for the part. The car is valued at roughly $9,000.

24 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/20/2018

Passenger airbag light blinks. Took car to dealer and they said the seat bottom needs replacing as it is an occupancy sensor failure. Cost for part is $6500. 00. Cost to install and reset is $500. That repair is half the value of what it is worth. I called infinitynot under warranty or recall. Have read online that multiple owners of these models are having same issue. I feel that this is a potential safety-related defect in the vehicle.

25 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 12/12/2018

In 2018 dash and passenger airbag light illuminated. Took it to dealer and was told that occupancy sensor in passenger seat needed to be replaced. In 2021 dash airbag light flashing and passenger airbag light off illuminated. Code determined occupancy sensor. Cost to repair basic car safety feature $7000. 00 which is prohibitive.

26 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

The airbag light on the dashboard has been blinking. I took it to get repaired and the dealer told me I would have to replace the passenger seat. The cost is $7,000. I have not done anything to the seat. So, no airbag will be deployed if I am in an accident. Why has this not been recalled? this should be on the maker of the vehicle and not the consumer.

27 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 02/01/2018

My Infiniti has 100,000 miles on it. Nothing at all happened to cause my problem - no accident, nothing special. It just suddenly, for no apparent reason, now has a flashing indicator that represents a problem with the passenger air bag that will cause it to fail massachusetts state inspection. I took it to the dealership in Infiniti of nashua in nh. I was told that it was a sensor problem, not a problem with the airbags themselves. Alas, the sensor can only be fixed my replacing the entire seat assembly. I was assured that this was very minor in terms of labor (maybe a couple of hours), but that it would require me to purchase an extremely expensive part. The dealership quoted me $10,000 for a car that is now worth about $12,000. When I did not jump at this offer, they contacted me three days later to say that Infiniti USA was offering me a discount and they would replace the sensor (via the whole seat assembly) for $7000. I have since gone to a reputable mechanic who said that the part costs about $6500. So not only was Infiniti of nashua trying to take advantage of me (perhaps because I am a woman), Infiniti USA is trying to get me to pay $6500 for a freaking sensor. My car is going to have to go into the trash heap. I see many other people discussing similar problems. Infiniti should be responsible for either fixing the problem - it is a massive design flaw that puts passenger at risk and makes their vehicles worthless far before their time. I will never buy another Infiniti again and will badmouth them at any opportunity.

28 Seats problem of the 2011 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/23/2018

Infiniti should recall all affected G37 passenger air bag sensors. My Infiniti G37 journey sedan has an issue of "passenger airbag off light" turning on when even an adult sits on the passenger seat while the vehicle is moving. It seems like the speed of the vehicle does not change the result. The light does not come on all the time but it does come on often enough to concern me. My wife is about 110 pounds and the airbag sensor should detect her as an adult and it should activate in case of a collision. However, when the "passenger airbag off" light is on when an adult sits in the passenger seat, it is a safety issue and Infiniti should address it to insure basic safety of its occupants. . 29 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 01/08/2018

The car has 48,300 miles on it. There is a constant flashing airbag warning light on the dashboard when the car is on, whether driving or just parked. It flashes whether someone is seating in the seat or not. The light indicates an issue with the airbag/sensor in the passenger seat.

30 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/25/2017

Airbag warning light are blinking. Dealer says seat sensors have malfunctioned and airbags won't deploy correctly in a wreck. They want over 6500 dollars to repair. There is a Nissan recall on these parts in other models and the forums are full of G37 owners with the same problem but sine this model is not under recall, we have to pay to repair. This model needs to be added to the recall list. 71k miles, 100 % garage kept. No reason this should malfunction.

31 Seats problem of the 2009 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/14/2017

The contact owns a 2009 Infiniti G37. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the front passenger air bag warning indicator intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Infiniti of memphis in bartlett, TN where it was diagnosed that the air bag seat sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

32 Seats problem of the 2008 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 05/10/2017

The contact owns a 2008 Infiniti G37. While driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator flickered and the front passenger seat air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (mossy Nissan kearny mesa 8118 clairemont mesa blvd, san diego, CA 92111 (858) 201-6606) where it was diagnosed that there was a failure in the occupant classification system control unit and it needed to be replaced along with the front passenger seat cushion. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and found NHTSA campaign number: 08v521000 (air bags, electrical system). The manufacturer and dealer confirmed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

33 Seats problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

When parked, the driver seat could not be adjusted. The back of driver seat went totally back and could not be returned to an upright position. There was a risk in driving the car.

34 Seats problem of the 2010 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 07/29/2013

The passenger side airbag light comes, indicating that that airbag is off, on when there is a passenger in the seat. I went to the dealer two times and was told that there is nothing wrong with the functioning of the airbag system. This issue occurs when my wife (who weighs 130 pounds) is sitting in the seat. We were told by the "master technician" that she is too small of a person to bear the force of the airbag and that it was safer for her without the airbag.

35 Seats problem of the 2012 Infiniti G37

Failure Date: 09/17/2012

The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that due to the design of the seat padding he has developed pain in his hip that worsens every time the vehicle was driven. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 60 and the current mileage was 140.
