1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2006

After 40-50 miles of driving, vehicle (2001 Infiniti I30) suddenly shifts down to second gear (so called "safe mode") without any warning and car will continue to run in second gear at 20-30 mph with corresponding revs of 4000-5000 rpms. If vehicle is stopped and ignition turned off for 15 min or so, situation may correct itself and normal operation resumes.
