Steering Problems of Infiniti M35 - part 1

The power steering rack and bushings have been replaced twice on my vehicle when I turn corners or back out of parking spaces it causes leaking and loud noise.

My car vibrates when I'm driving even at 40mph, it started with only the steering shaking, now it has progressed to a point where my and the safety of my family is at risk. It is at the point where driving over the smallest crack or dent a the physically sway or make my car beer off course.

Mechanic informed me that the steering rack is leaking. The car has 88k and has been maintained by the dealer. There is no reason this should fail this early.

While driving the car will not stay on the road, you have to keep both hands on the wheel, and it is still back and fourth. Have had new tires put om and alignment done, did not help the problem. This happens at all speeds but is worse on the highway over 50mph.

Car steers very irratically at times pulling left or right on uneven road surfaces. Also makes groaning sounds when turning steering wheel.

I have a 2007 Infiniti M35x and have noticed a pronounced problem that I recently learned is termed "tramlining". I have noticed the problem mostly at highway speeds on the interstate. When I change lanes, as the car moves to the center of the lane that I am coming from there is a very distinct pull on the steering wheel and feel as though the car is coming out of a rut. As the car completes the maneuver to the adjacent lane it literally swerves abruptly into the rut in the new lane, which again pulls the steering wheel and is very distinct. This problem is an annoyance during dry and clear weather conditions; however, in degraded weather snow, ice, or even wet pavements it is downright scary and in my opinion presents a significant safety hazard. From what I have read this is not unique. I was researching new tires (suspecting this could be the cause, along with a good alignment). In the course of my research I found others with the same complaint. By the way, my tires are not in need of replacement as yet and the alignment was performed approximately 6 months ago. I would hope that with the problems Toyota went through recently that someone looks into this problem before someone is injured or worse.

My wife and I purchased a 2008 Infiniti M35x which is still under a warranty from Infiniti and was inspected prior to us taking ownership. I drove the car and after two days I noticed the car pulling hard when changing lanes on the highway. It did it multiple times during a 30 minute trip. I again drove the car today and noticed the issue again. I have owned over ten cars in my life and none have had this steering / lane shifting issue like this. I have also had cars with tires with extreme wear and cars in desperate need of an alignment and still I never experiences pulling in the steering wheel like this. My wife also had a passenger drove the vehicle and both noticed it on a separate occasion. I have two children and am now concerned for their safety. Please look into this matter along with any other complaints associated with steering issues with Infiniti model M35, M35x, m45 and m45x from 2006 to 2010. It is my understanding that many complaints have been submitted with little to no effort to informed concerned drivers/owners of any progress or lack there of for possible recall for or around this extremely dangerous steering issue.

This car has an undrivable issue of tramlining. It is so hard to stear when there are grooves or road imperfections. . . Unlike any other vehicle I have ever driven. An Infiniti mechanic told me the problem is a defect in design of the steering rack. I can change the struts/shocks and put new tires and that will not help. . . I have been told. Please fix this problem so I can safely drive my car. It is so jittery to stear, I will not let my wife drive it.

I bought a 2010 Infiniti M35x from a Honda dealer with 80000 miles. During the first highway trip I found out that it's too hard to keep this vehicle within the driving lane without constant steering adjustments. The car moves to one side or the other if the road is not perfect. Also if I took my eyes off the road for a split second I could risk leaving my lane. This is a very unsettling driving experience. I took the car back to the dealer for possible wheel alignment. They checked the wheel alignment and told me that it was off and that it was fixed. Nothing changed at all. The salesman blamed it on the tires and stated that the problem should be fixed when the tires are changed. The car has good tires and doesn't need new ones now. I double checked the tire pressure and brakes as they suggested. Everything seems to be in order. The vehicle has a clean carfax record. In my search I found similar complains about the same model car which explained my problem. I understand that Infiniti denies the fact that there is a problem and refuses to do anything about it.

In March of 2014, while driving over 200 miles to a conference, I began to notice that my 2006 Infiniti M35 was pulling me to the left and to the right. Hitting a bump or a pothole would make it very easy to lose control. Being that I was in a different city, I was not familiar with local automotive technicians to assist me in determining the exact cause. This led me to purchase a whole new set of tires and a front end alignment. However, months later, the problem still exists. I am afraid that this pulling will have the potential to cause a very bad accident. I also changed out my struts because I also had the bouncing action going on, but to no avail, the problem still exists. There is definitely something seriously wrong. Could you all look into addressing this issue before it has to cost someone their life?.

2007 Infiniti M35x, has a tramlining issue with the steering rack system. Today while driving it forced me out of my lane and I nearly struck the adjacent vehicle. This is a severe safety issue and I'm concerned for the safety of my children. This needs to be corrected before someone is killed.

My vehicle constantly pulls left and right at high speeds with the slightest road imperfection. There is something wrong with the design of the vehicle. I have the vehicle aligned, tires replaced with a different brand and aired up to the proper pressure. It is not a problem with the tires, but with the vehicle itself. It is very dangerous and infinit won't do anything to help.

When driving and coming to a stop at (30-35 mph) you would hear a loud "clunk", and the engine would stop. You have no control of the steering and no brakes. We experienced this infinity defect 7-8 times over a 90 day period. First incident 9-14-13. Note- received recall letter (13v-430) from infinity 11-04-13. Made service apt with nalley infinity, marietta, GA. To perform work related to recall letter. I was reimbursed for repairs made on 9-14-13. However, on 12-26-13 while driving in jacksonville, fla. The same problem occurred, and repeated itself 3-4 times that evening before I could reach the infinity of orange pk. Fla. On 12-27-13. Infinity of orange pk. Made the repairs. . . The cost to me for this repair was $561. This itemized bill was sent to infinity consumer affairs in franklin, TN, and they refused reimbursement. Stating that they could only reimburse for one occurrence. This inifinity incident was very dangerous, freighting and scary when it happens. We are fortunate. . . There was no accident, but it has destroyed our confidence in the infinity auto, infinity service and all infinity products.

Vehicle will lunge from left to right at highway speeds and under braking. Just like many other complaints new tires, balancing, alignments will fix the problem for a short amount of time before erratic steering returns. It requires constant correction to keep the vehicle in your lane. Also under heavy braking the car will pull left or right. New brake pads have been installed on all four corners which only gives temporary relief.

It is very scary because it happens so unexpectedly. . . Now I always have to drive expecting it to happen . . . . Not my best comfort.

I have a 2006 Infiniti M35x. I've had it for about a year. Ever since I purchased it, I have noticed sudden jerking in the steering wheel. The car seems to be "all over the road" I've brought it in to have it serviced/looked at, they tell me nothing is wrong. When I drive the vehicle, I most certainly can tell something is seriously wrong! it's dangerous, the way the vehicle pulls from left to right, in and out of lanes. I've done some research online and have learned that many many other people are having the same problems. Many of which are blaming a faulty steering rack. This is a very dangerous flaw with the Infiniti M35. I have had alignments and brand new tires. Neither of these are the problem. It seems this problem has been going on for quite sometime with several complaints and it doesn't seem like anyone is doing anything about it. After lots of research, I think it is imperative that someone look into a possible recall on the steering rack of the Infiniti M35 models 2006-2009, as these are the years which look to be having the same problems.

Vehicle steering seems to have its own mind at almost all speeds and tends to lunge from one side to another requiring continuous correction. The wheels seem to follow most every deformity / irregularity of the road. One instance the vehicle moved over from one lane to the middle of adjoining lane almost causing a crash. When stopping the steering can swing upto 45 to 60 degrees in either direction. Have taken the car to the dealer more than three times - first time with 18000 miles on the car. Have always been advised that everything was normal. Researched on web and found many similar complaints with this model car described as 'tramlining'. Last time I took a print out of numerous similar complaints from the web to the dealer but they still refused to acknowledge the problem. They said there is no solution offered by Infiniti for this problem and recommended to change the tires. Have changed the oem tires at 26000 miles, done alignment three times, brakes serviced but the problem persists. Have reported the problem to the Infiniti customer service as well but no solution offered. I feel Infiniti is denying to recognize this serious problem which has the potential to be a major safety issue.

My 2006 Infiniti M35x drives real jerky darting to the left and right constantly whenever the road is the least bit uneven. I really like my car but the worse the darting gets I am becoming more concerned for my passengers safety as well as my own. After reading some of these reviews I don't think a newer version would be a good idea.

The vehicle will randomly pull, or turn, to the right or the left even on level straight roads. It has almost pulled the wheel out of my hands completely, because of the force in which it turns. I contacted the dealer, and was informed that it is a performance vehicle and this is how they are supposed to handle. After owning a 1998 BMW m3 and a 2010 Nissan maxima sv with sport package, I can say this is the only car that has handled like this. These are the same roads that I drove with both those previous vehicles so I can confidently say that this is not how a performance vehicle is supposed to handle. I just hope the issue can be resolved before something fatal occurs from this issue.

I just bought a used M35 Infiniti 2008 and noticed after purchasing it that the steering wheel moves by itself usually 30 degrees or more either to the left and right. I brought it in and had them do an alignment on it and that didn't fix the problem. I have been reading online of other M35 users and they all have the same issue as I do. They said it is a defective part which causes tramlining? regardless or not my dealership has told me theres nothing they can do about the issue. I get worried driving my vehicle at high speeds because I don't know which direction my steering wheel is going to take me.

I bought a used M35x and the car since I purchases has a problem with the steering tracking when on the highway. The car tracks to the bumps in the road and pulls you out of the lane. To counter you need to dramatically pull the wheel back to counter. Something isn't right with the car design or set-up. I have new tires and alignment and this still didn't correct the issue fully.

This car tends to drift/travel/trammel with road grooves/ruts/dips all the time. This is a common problem with this model. I've changed the tires a few times to try and resolve this issue and the same problem happens with all tire brands I've tried. I have never experienced this problem as prevalent with any other vehicle I've driven. I've taken it to two dealers and they both say it is common to this car. This is extremely dangerous.

My 2008 Infiniti M35x car violently jerks in and out of the lane from my left side and then my right side. The speed limit is 60-65 mph on the beltway, and for a car to be suddenly jerk out of the lane is a severe safety hazard. I glanced in my rearview and side mirrors, as my car was wildly drifting in and out of the lane to see if I was about to cause a major accident with the cars and tractor trailers that were close by. In my review mirrors I saw cars, and trucks braking, because I was swerving in and out of the lane erratically, similar characteristics of a drunk driver. I have never seen or experienced anything of the sort with a car in my life. This issue needs to be taken care of immediately, very dangerous and very frightening while driving.

Steering locked up, all fo a sudden with very limited steering capability, car could only make a 10 deg turn to either side. Sharper turns required backing up and trying again.

I frequently incur tramlining when driving my M35 infinity. Almost any asphalt surface that has a paving overlap will cause it, and in some instances, it feels as though the steering wheel will be ripped from my hands. In fact, this event occurred yesterday, Jul 15 on the east access road in tubac, az. This is truly a serious defect and unbecoming to the infinity brand.

When driving at highway speeds it is even worst, car wants to pull to left or right aggressively and requires constant correction of direction of steering as im driving. Living in nyc where road quality isnt exactly peachy, this is dangerous issue. Ive changed tires and got an alignment, however the issue still remains. Reported it to the dealership, but was not given any resolution to the issue. The new tires and alignment did not correct the issue. There needs to be a proper invesgation into this matter and a recall done. Especially if it turns out that so many people are reporting the issue. Such a large number of customers cant be doing something wrong and have the same issue.
