Crankshaft Position Sensor problems of the 2006 Infiniti M45

Two problems related to crankshaft position sensor have been reported for the 2006 Infiniti M45. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

I had purchased my M45 2006 Infiniti used Feb 20,2016 the car drove good everything worked well no problems at all. I did noticed the check engine light came on I took the car back to metro Honda which is where I got it from as used. The checked it out the light went off but came back on and stay. July of 2016 is when the car would just lose power cut off while driving etc. The car would take several minutes to start back up. The problem got more hecked because the car cut off one night my children and I was driving right on the middle of the road and a 18 wheeler was behind us I was able to come to a stop safely but was in the middle of the road which was a bridge. I had the car tested it came back as my cam and crank shaft sensor had those replaced not even been 2 weeks and the go still act as if no gas is getting to engine and still cuts off this is usafe it can cause someone to even be killed. I am so scared to go long distances because I'm scared the car will just loose all power. I took the car to Infiniti they couldn't even tell me what the problem was I also looked online and seen at repair pal where there was a recall on the crank shaft and cam sensor as well as fuel pump gas pedal and the recent one of the air bags. As well as a electric problem and all this was. Back in December of 2003 the only thing that was replaced on this car was the gas pedal. Something has to be done Infiniti needs to recall all this on the M45 sports 2006 I feel helpless and hopeless because I don't even know if my children and I will get in this car and make it back home alive. Something needs to be done.

2 Crankshaft Position Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2014

Whilst driving on the road going approximately 45mph the car's engine shut off without warning directly in the middle of a busy intersection narrowly making it across without incident, the car completely was off. The car would not start until 4 tries later. I drove the car towards the dealership and the car shut off again at about 50 mph causing no power steering, power brakes or warning - I noticed this when the car had no power or response when depressing the accelerator. I was able to coast safely into the emergency lane and retry to start the car again this time 3 tries started it back up. I then proceeded to call a tow truck and had it towed to the dealer, they inspected the car and said that, one of the "crankshaft position sensors", was bad and replaced it. 1 week later the same thing happened again, this time nearly causing an accident when on the highway at 60+ mph, it was like one minute your going 60mph then nothing, you have no acceleration, power brakes or steering, I had to force cars to evade me as I coasted with no power or engine into the emergency lane. Had it towed again to the dealer and the problem was again another "crankshaft position sensors", I had them replace them all at $1,100 in total. Infiniti/Nissan of north America must recall these sensors! they should not be failing and causing these dangerous symptoms, god forbid someone is crossing traffic when the sensors fail and get t-boned and die or get seriously injured.
