Eight problems related to service brakes have been reported for the 2014 Infiniti Q50. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2014 Infiniti Q50 based on all problems reported for the 2014 Q50.
On April 2nd I took my vehicle into the dealer for recall servicing. After leaving the dealer I had my vehicle inspected the next day by a third party repair shop and my brake caliper was missing the main bolt that connects to the brake pad. Brake pads were also less than 5% wear remaining. Myself and others were put in serious danger if my brakes had failed due to this serious oversight and disregard. My suspension also was unsafe in the rear but the dealer carried out a multi point inspection stating everything passed.
Traction control did not function when needed. I had my breaks and rotors replaced two days prior to the accident, which may have had an impact on the performance of the vehicle. Insurance representatives did look over the vehicle, as it is now in their possession. However, I do not feel as though they took the time to look into my concerns. There was no warnings on the dash.
Vehicle would not start and determined that battery was dead. Arranged for jump start (through my roadside assistance program) but vehicle would still not start. Had vehicle towed to Infiniti dealership. They figured out a way to charge car (wasn't accessible via front hood since a hybrid) and found a way to open truck to direct access and charge battery. Upon car starting, various error codes appeared. Car dealership had no knowledge of what they meant as they had not seen them before. I contacted Infiniti corporate and they associated the codes with a previous das voluntary recall. However, upon further investigation by dealership, it was determined that das update was already applied. To determine the root cause, I was told it would require the car to be partially disassembled. As two of the codes points to a braking system issue, and one to the chassis system, I wanted to verify if this is a safety issue and if a recall is needed. (see attachments for reference).
While driving my vehicle today approximately at 4:20 pm mst, my steering and braking system stopped working while I was driving and as I was approaching an intersection located here in colorado springs, CO. This scared me and I thought I was about to die. Is there a recall on the 2014 Infiniti Q50 hybrid steering and braking system? if so, what do I do about these issues? so many lives are at danger with this vehicle and its steering and brake systems. This must be fixed immediately! I'm in law enforcement and this could be catastrophic for Infiniti and Nissan.
While driving, the car lost all power, steering and breaking capabilities. All of the dash warning lights lit up. Infinity replaced the abs system.
This vehicle has an electronic braking system that has made this car handle erratically and extremely unsafe in traffic situations. While traveling at speed if traffic in front of you happens to brake or swerve in front of you this car will brake uncontrollably without notice making it nearly impossible to avoid a collision or change lanes to maneuver around on obstacle or car. Myself and my wife are very scared to drive this car and in freeway traffic you cannot safely change lanes. We feel it is only a matter of time before this poorly designed system which cannot be disabled will result in collisions or death. This has happened more than a dozen times since purchase in April 2014. We no longer feel safe driving this car.
While slowly backing out of a parking spot in a parking garage, the vehicle automatically braked so abruptly that I thought I had struck something in the roadway. I got out to check and the roadway was clear. I returned to the vehicle to continue and it did the same thing again. I was then able to continue. I had previously been to the dealership with issues with the sonar system for the backup collision warning and avoidance system registering false positives and beeping endlessly. Components were replaced. The problem clearly was not fixed. This technology does not work and makes the vehicle frightening to drive.
While traveling on the highway on 2/15 at 65mph with the intelligent cruise control system engaged, the vehicle automatically and abruptly applied the brakes very hard. There were no vehicles in front of us to warrant engagement of the collision avoidance system. An error message displayed on the dashboard. It was extremely unsettling to the point that my wife no longer wants to travel in the vehicle, nor will we have our infant son travel in it. The vehicle had previously abruptly braked in low speed conditions (ie, parking lots) for no apparent reason. Dealer had previously replaced radar system components prior to the 2/15 incident. I will no longer use the driver aids as a result as they are clearly not safe.
