1 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 04/23/2021

Engine has rough idle while in park. Even after the following maintenance was done. Replacing spark plugs, engine software update, coolant flush, power steering flush, fuel system clean, new mass air flow sensors both sides, serpentine belt, all new gaskets on top part of engine, valve cover, intake manifold, spark plug tube seals. Flushed rear and rear diff and transmission. Steering is heavy to turn. The colder it is outside the worse the engine shakes. Throttle response is delayed at times. Transmission shifts hard the worse the engine shakes. Colder it is the slower the windows roll up and down along with the wipers. Engine drops rpm when turning wheel while in park. When driving engine drops about 100 - 200 rpm then keeps going back up under acceleration but causes transmission to shift hard. This problem causes the output shaft seal to break and rear wheel speed sensors were replaced. After a sharp turn car hesitates to accelerate even if hard on the gas. Extreme cold temps outside make the engine almost sound as if something inside engine internals is not right. Hot and humid weather makes it run the best. No check engine light problem started at 90,000 miles now im at 126,000 miles and still no fix and no check engine light. Loss of engine power. Even going up the smallest hill incline maybe a couple feet over a distance of maybe 3 blocks engine downshifts to 5th gear just to maintain 70mph even though I can be going 50mph in 7th gear. Car jolts forward when coming to a stop as if the output shaft is still spinning at a different speed than the engine. Can cause an accident if not fixed. Other Infiniti cars seem to have the same problem. Even the g37.

2 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

- [ ] 2014 Q50 sport vq3. 7vhr premium base with 51k miles. You'll just be driving along and the power steering just stops working! the steering gets very rough and the vehicle is difficult to control, it's done it 3-times now! on the warning indicator lights: power steering warning light turns on & the vehicle dynamic control light also. Then on the vehicle information display: chassis control system error (see owner's manuel) turns on. You turn the car off and start it again and it goes away, sometimes. It's happened three times so far, and now it's not doing it it's been working fine for two days now? you never know when it's going to happen and it's very unsafe. The dealership said my basic warranty has expired and I just have the power train warranty left, unless I purchase an extended warranty. This vehicle does not have dast to the best of my knowledge (it's not on the window sticker) and Infiniti says there are no recalls on my vehicle, only 2014's with dast. I believe it needs a software update.

3 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 05/26/2017

I am experiencing software related issues that have become increasingly dangerous. In sum, the Infiniti software shuts down or locks up forcing me to become an it technician while driving. When the software shuts down, I lose the speedometer, tachometer, climate control and audio control. Here's an overview of my experiences for the past 3 years: randomly, the software will shut down leaving me without my instrument panel (speedometer, tachometer), climate control and audio control. Randomly, the software will lock up leaving me without climate control or audio control and the only resolution is to pull over, shut down and restart the car randomly, climate controls are set to 60 degrees w/ ac yet hot air is blowing out of the vents. Most recently, the onboard clock that displays the date and time will reset to 01-01-2012 and the clock will start at 6:00 am. The only resolution is to reset the date and time. This seems to occur every 3 or 4 weeks. When I call the service department I'm asked to bring in the vehicle only to be told that all updates have been applied and the issues cannot be duplicated. I have taken and posted several youtube videos showing the problems-which I'll admit is very dangerous to do while driving. In fact, I firmly believe that when these software issues occur, I am forced to play the role of an it technician and troubleshoot the issues while driving which is incredibly dangerous. These issues occur randomly while driving. This is a lease vehicle and I plan to return early as the continued issues put me and my family in danger.

4 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Q50. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle would independently veer to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The update was completed, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.

5 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/07/2014

Q50s hybrid with tech package driving less than 2 weeks (380 miles). Before delivery, the dealer confirmed that the car does not have any recalls pending and software is up-to-date. In the early morning, I drove about 60 minutes without problem (it was below zero), and parked the car for 2 hours in outside parking lot. When I started the car again (outside temp approximately 0 degree f), engine started but multiple warning came up. Those include "master warning, power steering warning, vdc warning, and forward emergency braking system warning. " I tried to back the car from the lot and it moved, but the steering was extremely heavy and I could not turn. I restarted 3-4 times but nothing changed. I called Infiniti and they set up towing but I needed to wait for 90 minutes for pick up due to cold weather. While waiting, I kept the engine on since it was cold outside. After the engine running approximately 30 minutes without shutting down but still all warnings on, I again shut off the car and restarted. This time, all alarms disappeared, and steering was normal. I contacted with dealer, and was notified that same problems are happening with other Q50 same day, and nothing needed to or can be done at this moment, since all software is already updated. Of note, the car was previously kept in location colder than 0 degree f many times and this problem did not happen at the colder temperature. But only difference this time was the car was kept outside parking lot. Since that incident, no further alarms appeared and the car is running fine. However, as I see more information in this site, I feel some sort of manufacture or official investigation needs to be initiated, since it seems there are multiple same issues happening everywhere. Some of these incidents could have easily triggered fatal accident. Obviously, after a fatal accident then one cannot complain anymore. . .

6 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/23/2013

After having a great experience owning a '04 Infiniti g35x, I purchased an Infiniti Q50 in mid October, 2013 in dallas, TX. In addition to software issues with nav & apps, I have had problems being able to unlock or start my car w/o my key fob. Three times I lost steering control when the weather was near 32 deg. F. . . Twice in driveway (reported to Infiniti in my survey) and once while driving and then I wouldn't have been able to swerve if necessary (very dangerous)! restarting the car alleviated the problem each time. After receiving a "service campaign" notice I took my car to the dealership. The service mgr. Said that he hadn't heard of any problems with the das, but I had the recall notice in my hand and my sales rep told me that she was having the same problem. This past weekend I visited a car show and spoke to an Infiniti rep. About this das issue. He told me that the das issue was related to cold weather and that the servo-actuators that make up the das system need to be sealed. When we asked if that meant putting grease or silicone on a rubber boot, he said no. The units had to be replaced with new ones. He said that any software fixes for the das would be to correct the lack of triple redundancy in the event of failures. I just asked the service rep. If they replaced the servo motors or control units that are the root of this problem and he said that they weren't required to do so. I think that the dealer and Infiniti are being very ambiguous about the extent of this problem. I'll give them one chance to fix these problems and if not satisfactory, I'll try the lemon law!.

7 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

I took delivery of my 2014, fully loaded Infiniti Q50s on 8/31/13. The vehicle is equipped with Infiniti's new "direct adaptive steering" system, which they hail as the first on the market steer by wire system. On 11/15/13 I noticed for the first time the steering erratically pulling, typically to the left but occasionally to the right. It is at times so pronounced that it is as if the vehicle steering is fighting me. The problem occurs frequently and persists to this day. This behavior is intermittent and is very different than an alignment issue. It happens on straight stretches of road and is generally noticeable during highway travel, given the higher speeds and straight stretches of road. This behavior had been observed by Infiniti service personnel and had been documented by other owners as well. It is also clearly noticeable to passengers in my vehicle. I have made multiple visits to the dealership in an effort to correct this problem, without success. These included application of a recall campaign that included new software and hardware being installed. The problem persists and makes the vehicle at least anxiety inducing to drive. At times it feels unsafe. It is highly unsettling and there are clearly problems with this system and technology. Rather incredibly, I was told by a Nissan/Infiniti technical specialist who was brought into town to assess the many problems I have been having with this vehicle that this erratic steering behavior is being caused by the steering system settings I utilize. That setting is known as "standard," which is the default setting whenever the vehicle is started. This car and technology are unstable and unsafe.

8 Software problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/03/2013

The 2014 Infiniti Q50 includes Infiniti's new intouch infotainment system. Its advertised capabilities were among the key deciding factors in my decision to select this vehicle. I began experiencing significant problems with the system within the first few days of owning this vehicle and problems persist to this day. On September 3, while taking my first long trip with my Q50, I experienced several intouch failures. These included lockups and a resulting loss of control of audio and climate control systems that could only be remedied by a reset of the system. The navigation system also locked and went offline, and could only be restored by stopping and restarting the vehicle. Problems recurred regularly. Software updates and hardware replacements have been performed but the failures persist, even if they have changed in nature or decreased in frequency. Resets also result in the loss of some data and default settings. Most of these failures are documented by video or photos. I have been advised by a Nissan/Infiniti technical specialist who was sent to town to assess the many problems with my vehicle and by client services that several lockups a month is a "normal" condition. It may be normal for Infiniti's unstable system, but it is certainly not the norm for consumer products and it is not acceptable, either. I was also advised by the technical specialist that many of the issues are because the system has a "slow" process and patience is required. Furthermore, at the time of release various functionalities were advertised for the intouch system, including various apps, calendar and email functionality. These capabilities were key drivers in my purchase decision. These capabilities were advertised for a fall 2013 release. As of mid-March 2014, these capabilities remain non-existent as does any information about when or in fact if they will actually be made available.
