2 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/01/2025

My car was driving along and all of a sudden the steering wheel got extremly tight and the car was hard to steer, I had to pull over turn the car off and the light was still on, I was like 2 miles away from my house, talking to a neighbor that has same car different year, stated to check recall his call did the samething years ago when we had a cold (low temperature) winter and it was replaced by Infiniti dealer. I never had any issue with this car until now. It's been really cold. Also this car has issues when it rains, it doesn't want to start, I have check out many videos stating the sunroof leaks or tubes for sunroof gets clogged and leaks into the bcm or ecm system causes damage and dash lights. Im not a mechanic but I know that this is something Infiniti/nissian should highly look into. Just a girl, but I know multiple people shouldn't be posting the same concerns on their cars and it's not being looked into.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 08/24/2025

The car just slowed down super fast on freeway almost got rear ended. It would not go past 3rd gear. Poor acceleration. Could have caused a huge accident. I got it diagnosed and they said it is valve body/speed sensor/tcm and they said this is a common problem for 2015 Q50. I replaced this part 2 years ago and here we go again. Shop diagnosed and said this tcm (transmission control module which is in the transmission) but they have to change whole transmission. Everything happened all the sudden then check engine light came on.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 07/23/2025

* the passenger airbag light came on July 2025. I was not in a accident the light just came on. * 7/29/2025 I took my car in for service at infinity of las vegas (the only infinity dealership in las vegas) I asked to check why the airbag light was on. I was told the occupant sensor unit was abnormal. Sensor and module internally shorted out. Recommend to replace passenger front seat frame assembly (only available as a 1 piece both sensor and module internally shorted seat frame assy). @ $ 8678. 76. Because it’s a different seat from the original seat, I would have to also replace the seat belt. @ 116. 87. * it is not recommended to drive a car with the air bag light on. This car is my only source of transportation. * on August 4, 2025 I took my car to auto dynamic services and they suggested initial repair was to replace the occupant detection module. The part was ordered from Nissan, when they received the part it was an updated part design which was slightly larger with more pins than the original part and could not be used on my car. They reordered the part from another Nissan retailer ensuring it matched the original part for my car. Now it’s Aug. 27th, 2025. Auto dynamic received the correct replacement module. Unfortunately the part was replaced and the airbag light came on again. They also stated the seat would have to be replaced in order for the airbag light to go off. For around the same price. It cost me 1800. 00 to find this out. * I do not have money to resolve this issue especially if the driver airbag errors next, I am fearful of the unknown driving around with the airbag light on. If in an accident possibly not being covered because I was driving with a know issue. Or the bags just deploying randomly. * on [xxx] I traded a perfect running car in, I did not receive much on the trade as the airbag light is on. I can drive safely and register the car when required * it looks like there was a recall but the Q50 2. 0 turbo was not included. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of inf.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 07/08/2025

I went into Infiniti of massapequa for an oil change I was told that my car has a recall for the ecm and by law they’re required to fix the recall in doing that it instantly caused a check engine light and are asking me to pay out of pocket for the oil pump adapter wire harness code p06da repairs caused by the updated ecm I don’t feel that it is fair that I have to pay for anything due to issues from the dealers update of the ecm.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 06/18/2025

I’m reporting a safety issue with my 2016 Infiniti Q50. Last Friday [xxx], my the car wouldn’t crank and there was minimal dashboard power, but the engine wouldn’t start. After receiving a jump, I had the battery replaced assuming it was the issue. However, six days later, while driving, the vehicle suddenly lost all electrical power mid-drive with no warning or dashboard alerts. The engine shut off, the brake pedal became stiff, and I was unable to use any power-operated functions, such as rolling down the windows (98 degree day in texas) or opening the trunk, which contained my emergency tools. A police officer had to assist and the vehicle was towed. Upon inspection, the issue was traced to corroded battery terminal cables, which were blocking the signal from the new battery and causing the full shutdown. This is a serious safety concern as complete power failure while driving, with no warning, and no manual trunk release for emergencies, could place drivers at significant risk. I’m submitting this for review and potential recall consideration. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

8 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 06/15/2025

The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Q50. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the message "no key detected" was displayed. The contact waved the key fob around the start/stop button and the message ceased. The contact stated that the light around the start/stop button was orange but was green before the failure. One day while driving the vehicle, the engine failed to shut off after shifting into park(p) and pressing the start/stop button. The contact made several attempts to turn off the vehicle. The message to "visit the dealer" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics before finding a mechanic that was able to turn off the vehicle by removing the starter fuse. The mechanic advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer performed a water test and discovered that there was a leak in the sunroof, which had caused the failure. The mechanic discovered that water had leaked through the firewall in the body control module (bcm) causing the failure. The contact was provided an estimate, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that after the repair, while the vehicle was idling, the vehicle intermittently jerked. There was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 05/12/2025

Subject: urgent: check engine light after vehicle return I am contacting you regarding my vehicle, I dropped it off the dealer for oil change & they informed me it was recalled so they have to fix it, but they returned it to me with engine light on. They mentioned after fixing the recall the engine light came on…tested it and showed thermostat, but to pay 249 for them to diagnose because it’s a different problem, but that issue wasn’t there when I took my car. I have never had the check engine light on. I want my car back without the check engine light on. They now saying it’ll be $2700 to fix that. I said, no. They mentioned giving me a discount and it’ll be 1800 and they’ll cover labor. I said, all I want is my car back the way it was when I brought it. Then they changed it to $3400 I am very concerned about this and would like to understand why the vehicle was returned to me in this condition. I ask that you please review this issue and arrange for a prompt inspection and resolution — at no additional cost — as this may be related to the recent service or handling by your team. Please respond as soon as possible with next steps. I’d prefer to resolve this directly with your service department, but I will escalate the matter if necessary. Sincerely, [xxx] [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

11 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/02/2024

Passenger seat light remain on for 4 months the went away. Then the airbag light came on. Took it to Infiniti of tampa where they supposedly done diagnostics. They cause additional lights to appear on my dashboard to include the steering hard to turn. When I purchased the vehicle in October 2016 I was unaware of any recalls. I found out about a month ago there approximately four recalls for 2016 Infiniti Q50.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/11/2024

The locks on the car automatically keep locking all day long and drain my battery, I have had to have my car jump started and recently towed to Infiniti dealer and they are stating there have been known issues with this electrical problem with rain getting into the sunroof and deteriorating the lines that short out the other systems. I have a bumper to bumper warranty that I took out with the Infiniti dealership but they are stating only part of the repairs will be covered by the warranty and not the sunroof part and that will cost me $1,300 to fix. If this is a known problem, how is this not a recall and why do me, the consumer, have to pay out-of- pocket for something that is a known issue with the sunroofs on these Infiniti's? can someone please contact me regarding this issue ASAP. It started when my car was at Infiniti's body shop in September getting repaired from a hit and run to my vehicle that required replacement of rear left back panel and rear left back passenger driver door (that had nothing to do with this issue) and when I picked the vehicle up they had to jump start my car. They had my car for a month and nothing prior to this was wrong with my vehicle. I don't know if someone left my sunroof open and it rained or what happened since this repair, but now I am having the issue with the car locks automatically/continuously locking and draining my battery. I read online that there is a button that should be available on the dashboard to shut off the automatic locking system, but the dealer has not mentioned this and is stating I need all this electrical things done to my car that will cost over $3,000 and that the sunroof part is not covered. This is absurd and not trusting what I am hearing from the dealership. Please advise ASAP. Thank you for your time!.

Valve body failure.

14 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/30/2024

Power steering failed while driving in parking lot looking for parking spot. Unable to turn wheel without hitting parked car. I was able to drive to end of the lot where there were less cars. Noticed that I was able to turn wheel so long as didn’t step on brakes. The steering wheel was also off alignment. This happed on a Saturday evening, next day car was fine all the warning were off. Spoke to service person explained what happened. He basically said if the car is running fine they can check it out but may not find the problem. Since the car was running fine until it wasn’t. Car was parked in garage turned on the car all warning lights go on. Made appointment for 4/3/24 drove car to dealership which is not to far. The warning lights still on and no power steering. Analysis many dtc codes found related to this system:b2512 4was sig: c1b9000 dast system: c1138 4was circuit & c1a04 abs/tcs/vdc circ. Correction recommended to perform dast calibration first before performing further diagnosis. Cost $539. 15 . They also did multi-point inspection items requiring immediate attention engine air filter cost $94. 99 grand total $641. 64 out of pocket. 4/3/24 picked up car. On that evening drove the car and as I’m pulling up on drive way power steering goes out again. I managed to get the car in garage. Once I’m in push button to close garage doesn’t work and car dies no power at all. Able to get car started by playing with battery cables. On dealership notes car was there 30 miles ago. Now they say wrong battery size. That battery was replaced by them on 2/28/22. Also the battery just past multi-point 2 days ago. New battery cost $232. 78 now out of pocket $874. 42. This is now 4/10/24. Drove that evening and front splash guard fall off had to tie wrap to hold whatever pieces are left. Took it to dealership they took no responsibility. I will need to replace it. I have all my receipts from them they are the only ones who have worked on my vehicle.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 02/16/2024

My car started acting weird, fob wasn’t working correctly, doors repeatedly lock nonstop and drained battery. I took to Infiniti and they said it’s water damage from my sunroof drains. It damaged my bcm. Infiniti has quoted me 3,700 dollars to fix. I’ve done lots of research and this seems to be a very common problem with the Infiniti Q50 models. I believe this is a manufactured defect. This could of left me stranded because car wouldn’t crank.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2018 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/16/2024

The airbag passenger light is illuminated causing air bag system to remain off until resolve. The vehicle was taken in for inspection and dealer confirmed diagnostic results found occupant sensor malfunctioning. Under warranty, the sensor was covered, but after installation the system also found that wasn’t the only thing to replace. It’s a handful of sensors and harness that is integrated within the seat frame with the only solution to replace the entire chair/seat frame. This item does not fall under warranty. My concern is the safety of my family riding in the vehicle. This issue was happening to 2016 and 2017 models that were recalled for the same issue. Unfortunately this vehicle may have been manufactured in 2017, but holds the 2018 year on paper found through carmax.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/28/2023

My car would not accelerate over 40 mph randomly after work. Once I noticed and tried to shift to a lower gear the car did not shift gears at all. When these things first happened there was no indicator lights on. The next morning the check engine light came on and the code pulled was p0720. After finding a repair shop to look further into the issue I was advised the car needed a new transmission to fix the issue. $4,000+ for the repair and as I google the issue I see that this is a common issue and it seems to always happen unexpectedly side note: also should be a recall on driver side blend door. . I almost died this summer due to cold air only blowing on one side in the middle of summer in 100• degree weather.

A short in the hybrid system's fuse relay caused the air conditioning control unit and compressor to fail. This further shorted out the hybrid junction box causing the hybrid battery recharge and power management system to malfunction. Gas mileage was very adversely affected and the hybrid system would have eventually failed causing a potential safety issue where the vehicle could lose propulsion suddenly while driving.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 02/15/2022

My car suddenly stopped in the middle of the road with a check engine light. I have a p0720 & p0500 codes indicating a vehicle speed sensor & output speed sensor failed while operating . This cause my transmission to fail and not shifting. I am on my way to the dealer now . Hopefully Infiniti will do the right thing and fix it . At 56,000 miles a transmission should not fail . Unexpectedly almost causing a car collision . No prior warning was provided by the car . The car just suddenly failed . This is a very serious safety concern .

29 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/12/2022

I have 3 issues with the car. The braking issue presented itself last in time but is most important relative to safety. Around mid January 2022, my car, while I was driving, and without any notice, began to decelerate/brake for no reason. My car is equipped with front driver assist but there were no cars, hazards, in front of me. It was a clear, dry day and the car was warm. It was momentary and fortunately no one was behind me. The car beeped, but there was no other warning. The second time this same event happened, however, the accelerator pushed back against my foot. Again, no one was in front of me and it was a clear, dry day. The third time this happened, the car beeped and what I know now is the cruise control indicator, appeared on the display. I did not touch the cruise control to activate. The other two issues were that both display screens were blacking out and rebooting while driving, for no apparent reason. The other issue is with the sirius xm satellite, which is not functioning properly. I have informed sirius xm of this issue as well. Given all of these issues, possibly all electrical, I contacted my local Infiniti dealer to assess, with special concern for the random braking issue. The car was assessed and they could not duplicate any problems. They mentioned that perhaps if they had more time they may be able to duplicate the problems. The following Monday, I took the car to the dealership and left it overnight for assessment. I was called the next day and advised that they could not duplicate the issues. The dealership returned the car without making any repairs, diagnoses, or being to able to duplicate problems. Since the car has been returned to me, it has continued to have problems. The braking issue has happened twice since, with one time involving the accelerator pushing back. The screen has blacked out and gone into parking mode, while I was driving. I have contacted Infiniti corporate to advise of problems.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/22/2021

Vehicle was purchased December 2021 upon purchasing the vehicle I noticed the horn was not functioning, vehicle was taken back to dealership, they corrected the issue, then months later horn isn't functioning at all. Nor is lane departure warning, lane keeping assistance, parking collision warning, rear cross traffic warning functioning on car. The automatic rain sensor isn't working at all.

31 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/27/2021

My car pause and jerks then stops. This is the second time this has happened after being fixed. The mechanic said they had a recall on the 2016 models for this but not the 2015 but had to correct many of the 2015 models. The check engine light came on after it stopped. I was on the interstate the last time when it stopped. I am afraid that it might happen again without any warning. This is a life threatening defect that Infiniti needs to correct ASAP.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 10/19/2020

Our front right bumper was just slightly damaged when back out of our garage. It was very mild cosmetic damage that occurred at only a speed of perhaps 5 mph. Original body work estimates came in at $2,000 only to spiral out of control with the steering modules being replaced them steering rack before the car was ultimately totaled as the steering programming was still off. Upon research we found out that this particular model was plagued with electronic steering issues which appeared to be addressed under multiple recalls. The insurance company stated that they have videos of the steering wheel going crazy back and forth wildly after the modules were replaced. I am extremely concerned that such an insignificant bump could not only result in totaling a vehicle but could jeopardize a driver's safety with the steering issues.
