36 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/09/2020

It seem as the chassis control system continues to fail even after I had the entire system replaced at austin Infiniti. It seem as it is electrical that doesn't occur all the time but occurs randomly even while driving. It make the steering lock up after a stiff pull at random times then cause all the other system to act up such as the collision or lane departure. It states error code chassis control system and Infiniti each time after taking it back for a warranty job they decline after having footage that I take when the error occurs with my steering wheel in a different angle for forward driving. This is why I am writing this if it can resolve others who have ran into this occurrences when austin Infiniti has told me they have ran into this before for another customer but luckily they car was under the manufacturer warranty and mine carshield. Will be dropping off again in March for my appointment since it seem to be coming on more often hoping the warranty company can inspect the error this time to repair it.

38 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

Since March of 2020 I have had issues with the display screen and the gps system. These problems are ongoing and the dealer cannot repair the electrical issues. I have elevated this complaint to infinity customer affairs and was issued case# 43115404 today. I have taken attempted to have my infinity dealer fix the problem for almost a year and they have been unable to repair the two issues. This problem appears to be getting worse as the frequency of the problems is ocurring more often now. The dealer contacted the corporate tech assistance department was was disappointed by the lack of support and the refusal to approve any repairs. These electrical problems only occur while the vehicle is being driven.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/13/2019

I was simply driving on the street when my vehicle stopped in the middle of the road causing cars to almost hit me. I was not involved in any accident but Infiniti has informed me that the emergency shut off was activated for unknown reason causing my ac compressor to blow and entire fuse box to be destroyed. My car only has 70k miles on it so this a safety hazard. These parts need to be recalled immediately there's no legitimate reason for a new car to do this. According to the manual the emergency shut of for Infiniti hybrids only happened when involved in major car accidents. This is not right.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/27/2019

Cars steering wheel will clunk and turn opposite directions will reversing into parking spots or slowly taking off from being stationary. This has happened a few times over the course of 4 months and I've only had the car for about 7. Last night I was pulling into my driveway and the steering wheel sharply turned right, I shifted the car to park, and the car just completely died. Nothing had worked at that point, no lights, ignition, keys, nothing. I got out of the car and shut the driver door and everything turned back on except now the steering wheel won't turn unless using unreasonable force. Power steering light illuminated, chassis control. This has also happened on my test drive with the vehicle in December of 2018 with 54,000 miles before purchasing . The steering wheel slightly twitched and I expressed my concern to the dealer and he said it was normal. It was very lightly that you could hardly tell it did it so I wasn't suspicious of the car having problems. This has not almost caused in accidents but I have a 3 month old girl and this is very unsafe and also my only car.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

First instance: while driving on the highway going 60mph my car powered down, preventing me from controlling the car. The gauges and lights inside the car went dark and mph went to 0. I lost electrical power and after 1 minute the car is back to normal. Second instance: as I was pulling into a driveway and went over a bump the car lost power and powered down, I naturally pressed the gas before I understood what was wrong, the car powers back up as I'm pressing the gas and caused me to almost hit another car.

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

Driving on interstate at 70 mph with active cruise engaged. The instrumentation all went black, cruise control released but engine continued running and I used manual acceleration in order to maintain speed in the flow of traffic. After approximately 30 seconds the system re booted. Instrumentation came back on and I reset active cruise control and all appeared ok. After a few days we were returning home and as described earlier the same event occurred on the interstate. I took the car to the dealer, described the incident, thy reported they had seen that before, checked the computer and saw no codes and said it must have been a system reboot.

50 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/04/2018

On 12-04-2018 my wife and I began a road trip from southern California to bozeman, montana in our 2015 Infiniti Q50. The Infiniti Q50 is equipped with driver and passenger seat warmers. Due to the extreme cold, my wife (passenger) activated her right front passenger seat warmer to the high setting. The right front passenger seat warmer was activated from northern nevada to idaho falls, idaho, approximately for 9 hours. As we approached idaho falls, my wife and I began to smell a burnt odor coming from within the interior of the passenger compartment of the Infiniti. We immediately pulled over and my wife located the burnt smell coming from the right front passenger seat where my wife's right elbow had been resting during the trip. The seat warmer had heated the seat to the point where it had burned through the layering and softened the leather to the point where my wife's elbow went through. This was an immediate concern and we turned off both seat warmers. On 12-17-2018, upon our return from montana we took the Infiniti Q50 to the perry Infiniti dealership of escondido, CA where it was left for inspection. On 12-19-2018 we were told by perry Infiniti dealership that the damage would not be covered due to their findings. Perry Infiniti stated that they believed the damage to be caused by an outside source. This to us was impossible since we are not smokers nor do we transport any flammable products in our vehicle. We contacted the infinity consumer affairs and reported the incident but met with the same negative results. A consumer affairs case was started and we were told that the ultimate decision would be made by the dealership. We find this very disturbing and see future issues with Infiniti's seat warmers that could ultimately lead to bodily harm. Thank god for my wife's layering of clothing or she may have received bodily harm.

51 Electrical System problem of the 2019 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 05/03/2018

I originally owned this Q50 2018 VIN jn1ev7ar7jm445555 and Infiniti replaced it with the one I had listed. The fact is I own neither of them any longer but feeli should report it because it is a safety issue which Infiniti refused to deal with. The blind spot light did not work on either car . Brtween 10 am and 8 pm you could not see the light and audible signal you could barely hear. I am reporting this problem in the hopes of saving lives. It was a safety issue it cost me $$ the second replacement but never felt comfortable in the car . Yet Infiniti could care less though the dealer was very helpful.

52 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/11/2017

The contact owns a 2015 Infiniti Q50. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle lost power and crashed into a guardrail. There were no warning indicators illuminated before the failure. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact sustained minor injuries, which did not require medical attention. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Infiniti of riverside (3040 adams st, riverside, CA 92504 (951) 373-5200) was notified. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 40,000.

53 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 12/06/2017

Q50 backup camera malfunction. After 3 years and 8 months (33000 miles) the backup camera display stopped working properly, it often just shows a black or white screen with no view behind the car when put in reverse, even after waiting 60 or more seconds for the apps to load or rebooting the system as suggested by the dealer. My Infiniti dealer replaced the display module but it didn't help. The problem happens day or night when putting the car in reverse. The dealer says according to the Infiniti tech support staff there is no solution to this problem. Infiniti consumer affairs says according to their tech, "it is a normal characteristic of the vehicle". Its normal for the camera not to work because its happened to a lot of Q50 vehicles. They refuse to fix the problem under warranty. This is second Infiniti I have owned but it is the last. They don't honor the factory warranty. I have multiple videos of the problem.

54 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Infiniti Q50

57 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/03/2017

While driving down the road the gauge cluster completely reset itself and none of my gauges (including tach and speedo) were operational for a period of approx 5 secs until is reset itself. Issue occurred at 8:45pm Jan 3rd, 2017 during rainy conditions. Temperature about 45 degrees. Had just completed a medium sweeping 90 degree right hand turn and was driving straight coming over the crest of a small hill. Car was in sport mode and manual shift mode with 3rd gear selected. Speed was about 40mph on a county road. This is not the first electrical issue with this vehicle, please note ongoing backup camera issues previously reported.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 11/11/2016

Backup camera sometimes fails to initialize after starting the car. Sometimes it doesn't come on at all (especially at night), and sometimes it comes on so dim at night that it's impossible to see anything (there seems to be a day [dim] and night [bright] brigness/contrast mode and it's like the day mode comes on even though it's night). Backup camera also always takes at least 30 seconds after the car starts up to show the gridlines and "check your surroundings" warning message. Well beyond the 6 secs recommended by the NHTSA. Infiniti claims that the camera is operating as designed and can take up to 90 seconds to load. I never have gridlines or the proper warning lines when I back out of a space (the system is simply too slow). This is very concerning to me as the camera does not always work at night when I need it the most. Even more concerning is Infiniti's complete refusal to investigate and remedy either of the 2 safety issues I am currently writing complaints about (this backup camera issue, and the issue with my brakes wearing out way too early).

60 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

The contact owns a 2016 Infiniti Q50. While at a stop, the vehicle went into economy mode and shut off. The start/on/off warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was restarted and taken to Infiniti of coconut creek (5501 west sample rd, coconut creek, FL 954-861-6100) and was diagnosed that it was performing as expected. Later, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v476000 (fuel system, gasoline, electrical system). The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and repaired per the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and made a note of the contact's call. The failure mileage was 1,500.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 07/17/2015

I live in a one family house with an attached garage. My wife parked the car, with 1/3 of a tank of gas,in our garage about 6:30 pm on August 17. She thought she had pushed the button to turn off the engine, and exited the car taking the Smart key with her. About 9 the next morning, while walking my dog, I felt heat coming from the garage and opened the door. It was very hot to touch. I then touched the car and burned my hand. I called our local fire department and they pulled the car out of the garage. The car was so hot, a cd in the door compartment melted. The firemen explained that my wife and I and our dog, could very easily have been killed by carbon monoxide and the entire structure could have burned from the heat. I have since learned that what happened to me is a common occurrence and people have died as a result. Even if the Smart key is not near the car, it will continue to run until it is out of gas.

62 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 05/12/2015

63 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/28/2015

Complete power failure around navigation and radio. Lighting went dark and then powered up 5 minutes later while driving.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 08/16/2014

First incident of this happening was during a trip to white plains, where the navi and info touch system would randomly restart. Within the 45 minute drive the system has restarted twice on me, and at the most inconvenient times, where I really needed to see the directions. I didn't pay it any mind at first since it was essentially an electronic item and like all electronics, it reboots from time to time. But needless to say that it has been more then inconvenient, to the point where it is useless. I have used the navi system on my phone more then the navi system itself, because it is unreliable! I have brought it to the dealership twice already and according to the dealership "if we can't reproduce the issue, Infiniti won't troubleshoot it". Even though I have video footages of the issue happening as I was driving, in different time stamps and locations. Unfortunately I don't have every incident, because I use my phone as my main navigation system. They stated this is natural for the system to reboot at least 2 to 3 times a month, which is understandable, but 2 to 3 times a day? I have leased 2 other Infiniti's prior to this Q50 and loved them all, but never had this problem before. The issue is still occurring.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

Vehicle drifts to the left and to the right mostly on the freeway, das does not feel tight and safe. Constantly needs to be corrected on the highway. I have had it in the dealership twice so far and will be taking it back again next week. The dealership found that my toe was slightly out of alignment at 3149 miles. Toe was corrected however, after technician road test of 50 miles, vehicle still has the similar sensation. I do not feel safe in this vehicle. I traded in my g37 coupe for this vehicle because we are having another grandchild however, I will not allow my children or grandchildren to ride in this vehicle. Salesman did not advise that vehicle was equipped with the new technology of das or I would not have purchased this vehicle! vehicle is now at 3285. My intouch dual screens have malfunctioned 5 times and do not reset until you turn the vehicle off and then back on.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 02/19/2014

While slowly backing out of a parking spot in a parking garage, the vehicle automatically braked so abruptly that I thought I had struck something in the roadway. I got out to check and the roadway was clear. I returned to the vehicle to continue and it did the same thing again. I was then able to continue. I had previously been to the dealership with issues with the sonar system for the backup collision warning and avoidance system registering false positives and beeping endlessly. Components were replaced. The problem clearly was not fixed. This technology does not work and makes the vehicle frightening to drive.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 02/15/2014

While traveling on the highway on 2/15 at 65mph with the intelligent cruise control system engaged, the vehicle automatically and abruptly applied the brakes very hard. There were no vehicles in front of us to warrant engagement of the collision avoidance system. An error message displayed on the dashboard. It was extremely unsettling to the point that my wife no longer wants to travel in the vehicle, nor will we have our infant son travel in it. The vehicle had previously abruptly braked in low speed conditions (ie, parking lots) for no apparent reason. Dealer had previously replaced radar system components prior to the 2/15 incident. I will no longer use the driver aids as a result as they are clearly not safe.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 02/05/2014

Car did not want to turn--happened again at 2200 miles. Carried to dealer at first time but problem was not fixed . First time it was very cold and the second time it was even colder. Not happy with the system in place to handle the problem. . Repeat sale is out of the question. Car has been parked in yard since 2-5-2014 waiting far towing to dealer. . Do not feel safe in driving car. . It seems the only use we have in owning car is to impress our neighbors with a useless $44,000 car. Very unhappy with dealer, Infiniti and towing company. Need I say more. --three phone calls today with no results. Posted 2-11-2014.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/17/2014

2014 Q50s shut off both the navigation screen and the intouch screen which controls the climate control, defroster, radio, cabin lighting settings, automatic wiper settings, etc. In the car. Only way to get them to restart and function was to pull over and re-start the car. Infiniti sent an engineer to my retailer and told me my phones bluetooth is not compatible with intouch, nor the bluetooth functionality of the car. As such, it is creating this "glitch" in the system. I was never advised at time of purchase my phone was not compatible and would create such an issue. If you do not have a Nissan north America approved device for bluetooth it could apparently create this problem. Note: phones on the approved list are at least 3 years old, so if you bought a phone in the last 3 years it likely is not approved for use. I live in utah and winters can be rough and I use the defroster frequently. To have this not work is quite dangerous.

70 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Infiniti Q50

Failure Date: 01/05/2014

In cold weather (below zero f) after car has been running fine and then turned off for 30-40 min, I got in the car and started as usual; but system malfunction light went on and power steering was inoperative and car was unsteerable. After turning the car off for about 10 min, I could restart and it worked fine. Then the same thing happened again within an hour. I stopped for gas and when I restarted the car it was unsteerable and a system malfunction light went on related to power steering. The same thing occurred a week before. The car had to be towed to the dealer and although they did not specify what was wrong they told me they had to wait for a part and that it would be 5-7 days before it came in.
