2006 Infiniti Qx56, had back brakes and rotors replaced in October 2020, 2 weeks later I'm driving, flat surface, nice day, applied brakes, my pedal went to floor, no resistance, I heard a grinding noise, felt like a slip , I had kids in car, I pulled over, asked the girls what they heard, turned off vehicle, checked brake fluid, full, the girls thought I may have hit a slick patch of oil or something?? we did our shopping, I made a few phone calls, got back in vehicle, started it and applied brakes, worked fine, drove home slow, no issues. Also no lights came on when this happened. I convinced myself this was just a fluke. 2 1/2 weeks later and after lots of driving, I had to go to memphis 5 hours away with my daughter. Everything fine until we got there. Checked into hospital, then decided to go downtown 4 blocks away. Started car, drove slow, at 3rd block went to brake as usual and it happened!!! brake pedal went to floor, loud grinding, clunking, brakes wouldn't work, this time light came on. Just the red brake light. I got pulled over, shut off vehicle, checked fluid levels again, full! scared now. I'm in memphis. When I started car back up it was fine. I don't want to drive home. Have read all the brake sensor probs, no recalls, deaths, unable to stop, I'm frightened and don't know what to do. Nissan will be hearing from me.

Driving 30 mph in manhattan new york came to a red light pressed brake pedal felt no brakes pumped brakes felt like there was little to no braking abs light came on so did brake light ran through the red thank god no cars where I front of me ,eventually stopped pulled aside then turned vehicle off and then on the brakes worked fine took it to straight to mechanic because I didn't feel safe driving the truck . He said everything looked fine your brake pads rotors fluid levels and tires are in good condition he connects his scan tool and said he didn't find any codes . I told him to keep the car drive it until he could figure out the problem 1 week after he calls me and said he was driving about 25 mph in brooklyn new york and the brake light abs light came on then he had no brakes told me it felt as if he was driving on ice he then scanned the car when he got back to the shop and said it had a code dtc c1179 advised me to take it to Infiniti to get it diagnosed because it's a serious and potentially deadly problem. Called Infiniti north America hotline and was told there were no recalls for this serious problems they told me take it to the dealership to have them service the car so now I have to drive a car with brake maybe working or maybe not working to have the dealership potentially overcharge me to fix a manufacturers defect that they know about I'm happy that I was in brooklyn driving only 25 -30 per without my children in the car. I live in jersey and normally on the highway driving (50-65 depending on posted speed limits if this brake problem happened omg . I read up on the code and found numerous vehicles compliants about this dangerous brake problem. C1179 delta stroke sensor Nissan titan. Nissan armada and Infiniti Qx56 2004 - aprox 2010 they need to issue a recall to make these vehicles safe to drive.

Difficulty stopping. Pinging noise. Replaced the brakes but didn't fix the issue. Very dangerous as it's very hard to brake and brake light comes on. Happened a couple times and it seems to reset once the car is shut off! very scary. Happens out of the blue.
While in motion the brake pedal feels loose and there is a grinding noise. The braking power loses function, the red brake light turns on and you have to pull over as safely as possible to turn off the vehicle for it to reset itself. I only learned that it will reset itself when you turn off the vehicle after the first time it happened to me on a street. Since then it has happened on several occasions while on the highway and freeway. The first time it happened was about 2 years ago and most recently 1 week ago.
Every once in a while, seemingly after slow driving where there are many stop signs not too far apart, the brake light comes on, the brake pedal weakens and brake system makes a rattling noise when the pedal is pressed. Then I turn off the vehicle and restart it and all is back to normal until the next time, can be days or sometimes weeks.
I have been complaining about my brake light warming while vehicle is in motion to infinity for 13 years to infinity of vannuys ( the only dealer that services my vehicle). Why ole this 6000 lb vehicle is motion and this safety hazard occurs, depressing the brake pedal does. It stop the vehicle promptly as the brake system should and a loud metal grinding noise is produced. I have had my vehicle toad to the dealer with the same problem on several occasions and all I am told is that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. This occurs infrequently and over the years it has been occurring more frequently. What is more terrifying is that this is a public safety hazard that is known to NHTSA and Nissan/infinity of America and no recall has been issued or the manufacturer has not been held accountable for fixing this safety hazard. This hazard has occurred on several occasions over the life of ownership ( I am the sole owner of the vehicle). I have made Infiniti of vannuys aware of this issue and it wasn't until recently that my service advisor communicated with me if how alarmed and concerned he was with the issue as his technician was test driving the vehicle and the balearic light turned on while the vehicle was moving and making the metal grinding noise and not being able to brake as the brake system is intended to do so. I communicated with consumer affairs at Infiniti and was told by their department that they cannot do anything for me as there is no recall on my vehicle and that Nissan:Infiniti is not aware of this matter. I mentioned to the representative that I have been entertaining this concern with service advisors over 13 years and they were finally able to listen to my concerns: this is unacceptable, specially after reading about cruz v. Mathenge | no. B286067. My family's life and my own have been in jeopardy over 13 years and I need help.
When driving, the brake light comes on for no reason and causes the brakes to work inappropriately. It becomes very hard to brake. The brakes seem to fall through and there is a grinding sound from the brakes. If I turn the vehicle off, and then back on it works fine. Then it happens again sparatically.
Traveling at highway speeds the emergency brake light illuminated. I started to get to the right hand side of the highway and slow down. When I would depress the brakes there was an inconsistent clunking noise, it was difficult to brake, abs system didn't seem to be working. When the brakes were not engaged the vehicle seems to be driving fine. I was able to slow to a stop in a parking lot where I put the vehicle in park and physically engaged the emergency brake. I then disengaged the emergency brake and then turned the vehicle off. I got out and checked all of the brakes for visible debris and didn't see anything. I returned to the vehicle and started it. The emergency brake light was no longer illuminated and the vehicle seemed to be back to normal.
I have owned the car since it was new. When the car idles for long time, high traffic or run in a long distance, the brake light comes on, slip light and the brakes chatter and stopping car becomes almost impossible. Numerous trips to the dealer over the year has produced no fixes. . . . Replaced sensor, brake boosters, brake pads, fluid changes, in essence practically an entirely new braking system with no positive results. This is major issue!!! I can not believe that nothing has been done, likely because it can not be replicated on demand. Someone will get hurt and then someone might listen.
The vehicle's brake warning light keeps coming on. Rotors are fine. Brake fluid level is high. Yet, when I apply my foot on the brake, the warning light comes on and there is also a bad sound on the front wheels that sounds like metal to metal (there is a vibration). Once I pull over and turn the vehicle off for a minute or so, I am able to continue. However, the warning light comes back on moments later. This is getting very dangerous as it may trigger me to rear end the vehicle in front of me. The problem has been happening for the past eight months. However, it has been getting worst. The cruise control light also comes and stays on. Please help.

Brake light keeps coming off and weird noise when pressing it, car only has 39k miles.
I am having brake issues with my 2005 Infiniti Qx56. The brake light keeps coming on and it makes a grinding noise. It is also very hard to get it to come to a stop. Just yesterday, I almost could not get the vehicle to stop at a red light. I am also having an issue with the fuel gauge. I have run out of fuel 3 times and each time the the gauge is showing between 1/2 and 1/4 full. Back in September of 2017 we were on a major highway. All of a sudden we lost power and we were going 70 miles an hour. We were in the passing lane and we lucky to get over to the side of the road. We were almost in a severe accident. I have researched both issues online. I know that there have been recalls on these issues. When I called Infiniti about this, I was told that there was in fact recalls but my vehicle was not on the recall list. Obviously, if I am having issues with both of the things and there have been recalls on both of them, my vehicle should be on this recall list. I something needs to be done about this before people are severely injured or worse.
After driving in stop and go traffic, slow speed with many stops, the brake pedal loses power and begins to pulsate. When this happens, the emergency brake light illuminates on the dashboard. Turming the vehicle on/off seems to reset the car and the issue is resloved.
Brake light comes on while driving, when pressure is applied to brakes under 40mph there is a grinding noise and the brakes skip. You can turn the ignition off and back on and sometimes the brake light goes off and everything is fine and sometimes it is not. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. Some days it never comes on and some days it never goes off. After researching online it appears that it is an issue with the computer module and a software update is needed. Please fix this. The first time it happened it was very scary! I was driving with my 3 kids and thought that my brakes had went out completely. It was months before it happened again but now it seems to be an every day occurence.

I get a brake light and a slip light sometimes when applying the brakes. Makes an awful noise and sometimes the brakes fail to operate. I have to turn the car off and restart it to reset something and then its fine for a few days and comes back. It is very scary. Others who have the same vehicle have complained of the same thing. Saying they think the brake master cylinder is defective. I have also heard of people crashing their SUV because of this. This happens just when applying the brakes. I see this a lot in the forums and wonder why they haven't recalled this dangerous defect. This has been happening numerous times in the past 5 years.
While driving at low/high speeds, the brake light will just turn on unexpectedly. Also, the abs brakes seem to fail where you have to press the brake pedal to the floor. The only way to temporarily fix this is to turn the engine off and turn it back on for the brake light to go away. Again, this will occur at least 1-2 times a day and/or 28 times in a month while driving. This is a very dangerous situation to put a driver in on the highway or other roadways.
While the car is in motion the red brake light will turn on and when you press the brake pedal the car slows down but makes a loud thumping noise, and you can feel like a spring on the brake pedal vibrating, if you turn off the vehicle, it resets for a while but now it is happening constantly. The brake pads and rotors are new.
While driving the SUV on the highway I went to brake and it acted as if the abs bra king system engaged. The brake light came on the dash. I pulled off the highway and turned the car off. When I started the car again the brake light went out and the brakes acted as normal after that.
While driving brake light comes on (not abs light), and when push the brakes is hard to stop and has a rattle noise on brakes, if you turn the vehicle off and turned back on everything goes to normal, I know that this problem is on Nissan armada wich it has a recall but not on the Infiniti, the recall is delta stroke sensor with code c1179.
As I was traveling on a city street, the brakes on my 2004 Infiniti Qx56 started making a grinding noise and the brake light on dash board went on making it hard to come to a stop. I don't know whats causing this problem. I know there was a recall on this vehicle for the same reason (brakes) but I don't have the number.
My car has the notorious issue that seems a lot of Nissan titan, armada, and Qx56 has. When driving, all if a sudden brake light will come on the dash. All of sudden, when I press in my brakes, it starts to make noise and loses almost all power in the braking system. Like the abs is not working. When I turn the car off and back on, it goes away temporarily but will soon happen again. I took it to Nissan, and they say they couldn't do anything about unless it's malfunctioning. So the next time it happen, I risked everything to drive it from the highway to the dealership without turning the vehicle and off to ensure the issue is present when at the dealership. Car had 75k miles at the time. They then took it back and did some king of update or flash and everything has been working for a couple of years. Well now it is back while I was driving my newborn to the children hospital 3 hours away. I had to put the car in neutral on the highway to let it roll, turn off the car while rolling, then start it back up for my brakes to work. This should definitely by a safety issue and recall to be fixed. So many reported incidents have been reported and even a lawsuit. Now Infiniti wants me to pay to have the issued fix again even though it was temporarily fixed for a couple years. I don't know how many accidents or deaths are required to for Nissan to take ownership on all these models and not just for whoever was part of the lawsuit.
Brake shudder - severely reduced braking power. Brake light comes on dash. This is random. Happened twice more on way to work, approximately 50 mph,on I-40 exit ramp and 30 mph on a side road. Turning off vehicle and back on resets this. But it randomly happens again. I am fearful in this vehicle. I called dealer and they said they are unaware of issue. A google search reveals a class action lawsuit on this subject.
While driving my 2005 Infiniti Qx56 I noticed I have to press down harder on my brakes to come to a stop. At one point the brakes go all the way to the floor and the brake light illuminates. I know I don't need brake pads because they were replaced 2 months ago. I have also had my brake booster assembly replaced so I know it is not that. I don't know what to do because I keep having issues with this vehicle.
The first time I had issues with my brakes I was fortunate enough to be parked. I turned the vehicle on and tried to releases the emergency brake but the light wouldn't disengage. I put the vehicle in reverse and the applied pressure to the brake but the brakes didn't work. Then the vehicle made a severe grinding noise. I then turned off the vehicle and the problem went away. I then called the dealership and asked if there was a recall for this problem and they said "no". The second time it happened to me I was driving on the road. I notice the brake light turned on, so I slow applied pressed to the brake peddle and the vehicle would stop and began to shake furiously as if it was skidding on the road. Fortunately, their wasn't anyone on the road. The vehicle finally came to a stop and I was lucky enough to pull off the road. I tried pressing the parking brakes to release the light but that didn't work so I tried shutting the vehicle off. I turned the vehicle back on and the light was gone. I slowly began to drive and test the brakes and they work again. I have gone to the dealership and they told me again there was no recall on the issue at hand. The service department said it could be the brake booster but they couldn't find an issue with it so they didn't replace it.
50000 miles on it at moment and for the last 3 years my Infiniti looses brake power. Last week I almost ran on a vehicle with my 6 month old son riding with me. Once the vehicle comes to complete stop after a while and once the engine is turned off and restarted the problem goes away. When it happens theres a huge grinding noise and brake pedal shakes very badly as if theres no brake on the car. Above all the vehicle has all good brakes. The brake light comes on too when this happens . As mentioned once engine is turned off and restarted everything woeks normal. I googled online and so many people with similar models have these issues. Most important the dealer doesnt ackwoleges it and says there no recall . I beleive they waiting once someonr does before they will take action. I hope some action can be taken about his killing matter.
The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated that the brake light randomly kept flashing. There was also an abnormal noise present whether the brake pedal was applied or not. The dealer was notified of the failure and expressed no concern. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic for further diagnostic testing, but the mechanic was unable to replicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 117,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Infiniti Qx56. While driving approximately 25 mph downhill, the brakes failed and the emergency brake warning light illuminated. The contact heard an abnormal noise and had to downshift vigorously into a curb in order to stop the vehicle. The contact shut off and restarted the vehicle, and the braking system was reset. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer provided the contact with information regarding a class action lawsuit. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
While driving the emergercny brake dash light will become lit and all braking actions have drastically reduced power. A an audible grinding noise is observed from the front of the vehicle and the brake peddle has little to no resistance. A restart of the vehicle temporarily resolve the issue, but the issue has reoccured numerous times and is increasing in frequency.
Emergency brake: e-brake appears to engage on its own and the brake light indicator comes on. There's also a grinding sound when brake is pressed. Grinding sounds only occurs when this issue comes up. Exhaust manifolds: was notified by the dealer upon a service inspection that there was a small crack in the exhaust manifolds. Is this a normal thing? and should this be a recall item as it could throw off any smog check testing. In addition how about the exhaust in the cabin issue? maybe they used too thin of a metal for the manifolds.
Brake light turns on while driving then while I step on brake sounds like a grinding noise. I'll restart car and it will be fine. It's a safety hazard because brake is malfunctioning. . It usually happens when u put on reverse and turn the wheel. U have to restart for it to go back normal.
While driving my vehicle I applied the brakes to slow for a turn. My brakes make a loud grinding sound and were not properly working. The brake light came on and pulled off the road. Once the vehicle was put in park and restarted the light went off and the brakes worked properly again. I have read several other stories of this happening to others. Why isn't Infiniti doing anything about this? this has happened a few times since I have owned this vehicle.
Brake light came on and braking was affected while driving on a town street going about 25 mph. Once car was turned off and cranked light went off and brakes were fine. Have seen other complaints about a faulty sensor.
Apparently as all other complaints are similar with the brake light coming on and as I apply pressure to the brake to stop the scrubbing and scraping sound is unbearable, I've been told it's the brake booster is bad for Infiniti Qx56. Fix the problem if everyone is having the same issue, please before someone gets killed. Also there's an exhaust leak which you can tell by a flickering noise when you crank up and accelerate.
During normal operation of the vehicle and while in motion, the abs brake light indicator on the dash control panel illuminates when applying the brakes, which cause the brakes to shake and make scraping sound. At that point the brakes fail to stop the vehicle in a safe distance, increasing the chance of a collision. Abs brake light clears and normal brake functions return when the ignition is turned off, then back on.
