1 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

There was previous recall on this vehicle, 10v-074 (Infiniti #r1011) for a fuel sender problem, causing the fuel gauge to be inaccurate. Infiniti says it was fixed in 2010. Unfortunately, I am having the exact same problem now, and have run out of gas twice because of it. Infiniti said they can't help because it was already fixed. Safety issue because running out of fuel while driving is dangerous. Both times has been on an interstate. It was a previously reported recall and "fixed" but has failed again. Infiniti says they won't fix it again.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 07/23/2021

SUV would not start so had to get a jump. 1 week later same thing. Had battery tested but was not bad and it had just been replaced by dealer in 2019. 1 week later again SUV would not start. Got a jump and took to jba Infiniti in ellicott city, MD who charged the battery for 2 hours. 2 weeks later, SUV is hesitating to start. I refuse to pay another $186 for them to diagnose and then recharge the battery again. After some research it looks like others are having this same issue. Next, catalytic converters. SUV is 8 years old and jba Infiniti is telling me I need to replace them @ a cost of $7500. This is ridiculous. . . . . I don't have loss of power but I so get the "rotten egg" smell sometimes. I would think this part would be covered under emission warranty for at least 15 years. I have 142000 miles on it.

4 Electrical System problem of the 2013 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 04/20/2021

There was car that pulled up behind me while I was idle in the driveway and as I pulled out no warning beep. . And now the vehicle. Was not cranking for several hours and nothing is wrong with battery and remote is fully charged & have been stranded seval times because if of it. . . This has to be a recall.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 09/06/2020

SUV will have trouble braking, emitting a loud, grinding noise when brakes are applied. Diffiulty stopping. Almost caused a wreck twice now. Once vehicle is turned off and back on, the situation seems to stop. Happens periodically. First time had brakes, rotors redone in case there was an issue, though there did not seem to be according to the mechanic. Has continued to do it a few additional time. Took it into Infiniti dealer. Was told it was the brake vacuum booster. This item has been recalled on other 2004-2008 Infiniti qx-56 and Nissan armadas. Was told that my car was not on the 'recall' list.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 04/30/2020

While driving in residential/business area my vehicle completely lost power and turned off. I drifted to the side of the road without power steering. Tried to start vehicle again. Vehicle would start but would immediately die-would not idle. After resting approx 5 minutes I was able to start again and continue home. This has happened 3 times in the past 2 months. I am terrified to drive this vehicle again. I also cannot keep the drivers side headlight working. Bulbs constantly blow out at over 300. 00 dollars each.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 02/14/2020

My wife drove to my daughters school school for a basketball practice. She locked the doors using the keyfob like always. When she got back to the car she unlock the doors using the keyfob, but this time the drivers door did not open. She tried using the door entry button on the handle which did not work. She then got in thru the passenger door and tried to pull the handle to open the door and that did not work. From the inside of the car she had to climb over the center console to get into the driver seat. I checked the operation myself when she got home and I could not find a way to open the door. After doing some research on the internet I found that this was a problem with the design of the plastic actuator and its component. With the number of people having this problem, I am surprised there isn't a recall similar to the takata airbags since this would no pass an inspection and would be a hazard in the case of an accident.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 02/07/2020

On more than one occasion after driving to a store or appt. And park . Go out to a completely dead vehicle. Jump start to get going may go for a month or so and it will happen again with no warning.

9 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 01/04/2020

The vehicle will lose power to the brakes while driving intermittently. When problem occurs you will lose power steering and pressure to braking system. Also the driver hid headlamp gets moisture in it whenever it rains. I have had to replace the hid bulb about 6 times in the past year. Also there seems to be an electrical issue with the onboard computer that causes the tachometer to not work or read correctly.

10 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Constant moisture build up causing headlight burnout a dangerous situation didn't know until police pulled me over. Five times this incident has happened. Very expensive fix and extremely expensive replacement. Unfair to consumer auto shops says the company knows about it. A safety recall is needed.

11 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

My truck completely shuts off while driving long distances on the freeway at speeds greater than 60 mph and then slowing down in stop and go traffic. It also falls dead on local roads at 30-40 mph. I can literally press the gas pedal to the floor and with no pressure to the accelerator. There are no warning codes or alerts when this happens. I took my vehicle to the southwest Infiniti paid for unnecessary service and the problem still remains. I am able to restart the vehicle;but from only park or neutral. I then have to rev up the engine for at least 5 mins before I am able to get any type of acceleration. This is very dangerous and I almost got hit several times.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 06/01/2019

When my car is in motion and I go over any bumps it pulls the back end of car my to the side and bounces around so much that I almost don't have control of my car. This will pull so much it take me to the side of the land im currently in I have to make sure I look out for bumps in the road and make sure I slow down below the speed limit so I can keep control of the car. This causes my abs to turn on when going over bumps because the car think im not in control which also cause more issues. This also cause a risk as I have other traffic driving around me, I have children and I am in constant worry that im not going to be able to slow down to keep control especially on a hwy there is no slowing down to 20mph on a hwy. 2nd issue my dashboard light continuous flicker and then go out. Rpm/tack needle has quit working. I have had this repaired several time and still have the same issue.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 11/17/2018

I was driving on interstate 435 w. In kansas city kansas. It was about 4:15 am traveling at 70-72 mph my visibility was ok but I thought that if I use my highbeam it would be better. As soon as I clicked high beam on my car instantly turned off. My headlights my interior lights and my radio powered off. As a panic reaction since I had zero visibility and it was dark outside my foot the brakes. As I remember my sibal had already tightened up before hitting the brakes but before I could realize it my car part powered back on by itself without me doing anything I look at my speedometer and I was going about 67-69. When my car powered on it seems as if it rezoned as if nothing had happened now I believe if I was in kansas city kansas rush-hour I would have caused a severe accident . Even though it was maybe for a second or two that my car had powered off it was more that my car came to a complete stop and I believe with everything that was electrical they have power it off I don't believe that my brake lights would have worked as well. If that were the case I would've never have gave the driver behind me any kind of warning for them to be able to slow down. Luckily it was 4 am in the morning with no traffic that I didn't cause any kind of accident because it would have been unknown how badly it would've cost if they were traffic. I'm not sure what caused this but I know as soon as I had exited off the the interstate I turn the car off turn it back on seem just fine when I went to go turn on the lights my car again powered off. I waited about 15 minutes before I started the car again and it started up just fine waiting for it to warm up turn my lights on again and it did nothing this time and I was able to resume home.

In addition, the contact was uncertain if a failure may progress with the timing chain. The vehicle has not been inspected and diagnosed by a dealer. An independent mechanic was contacted. The manufacturer had issued 5 TSB on electrical, no electrical system recalls and was notified of the failure to determine if they may be able to provide further testing and diagnosis to provide a solution. The approximate failure mileage was less than 50,000. Dyd.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 08/31/2017

Experiencing almost identical issues to another complaint I saw that was previously filed (#10924936). Told we need to replace catalytic converters at $2,000 each. Dealership said it's a known issue with the vehicles. If it's a known issue, perhaps something should be done about it. We've also had to have the battery replaced numerous times. Had to call aaa several times to jump the vehicle.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/20/2016

The airbag does not work on the steering column the dealer says it's due to a cold spring on the backside of the airbag that allows electricity to go through it to make it work and once over $1000 to replace the coil- spring in order to make the airbag work which is connected to all the other safety airbags in the vehicle if the drivers airbag does not work neither does any of the other airbags in the vehicle . Gas gauge does not work properly it runs out of gas when the gauge shows it has more than a quarter of a tank of gas does not register for one f gas gauge does not work properly it runs out of gas when the gauge shows it has more than a quarter of a tank of gas does not register full when full of gas! the suspension in cool springs on the front of the vehicle do not function properly vehicles ways from side to side going down the highway as well as clambers what it goes to a pothole in the road this started at less than 100 thousand miles in a vehicle now has 129,000 miles ! vehicle makes loud noises upon accelerating the mechanic said it's from a cracked manifold which is common in the Qx56 and wants $1800 to replace the manifold this is out rages. The throttle says thing position on the q x56 is very touching and barely laying your foot on the gas pedal jobs for especially from stop lights and stop signs upon initial acceleration this is very unsafe the dealer refuses to fix it under warranty.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/15/2016

When I am driving (pressing the gas) an inconsistent random clicking noise that's affecting the brake system and usage is heard. It's difficult to accelerate. In the past, I would simply turn off the vehicle and turn it back on and the noise would stop. It was difficult to explain and show to any mechanic because it does it randomly and unexpectedly, therefore it would never do it when needed. I went on because it wasn't often at first. Now it's at an extreme level as if the vehicle doesn't want to drive and I could be on the highway (you can imagine how scary that is at high speeds).

20 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 08/04/2016

The contact owns a 2004 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel became hard to maneuver. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 05/13/2016

We have had problems with the battery since we bought the Qx56. SUV's completely dies after a glove box light, radio has been played for 20 to 30 minutes, car cannot be jumped by typical cables, every time we either had to have a heavy duty jump done by tow company or battery was replaced by Infiniti. Timing chain and both catalytic converters need to be replaced, with engine issues. Infiniti had SUV for almost a month to fix engine and timing chain. Engine light still coming on then we where told the converters needed to be replaced. $5k to fix. It sounds like this is a very common issue with Qx56 for this year and others. After each time engine light came on Infiniti service dept told us to continue driving the car and after 2 weeks if it didn't reset then call back again. We did this reluctantly, because I am my wife have been taught that when you have an engine light come on, stop call, and get the vehicle in to be inspected.

22 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

My airbag light stays on constantly. There is a knocking sound that occurs as well when I'm driving. I'm concerned if I'm involved in a collision my airbags will not deploy. I contacted Infiniti and was told they need to reset it and will cost $800. 00 and my extended warranty did not cover it and was not part of the recall list. The ipdm ecm relay switch causes my instrument cluster gauge to go in and out, the check engine light comes on, my truck jerks trying to switch gears, it will sometimes start up after several tries, it causes the rpm's to read over 7 when I'm only driving 60 mph. It should read between 2 and 3 rpm's. I'm constantly switching the ecm relay plugs to start my truck. The air bag and ipdm ecm relay was not covered under my extended warranty when I purchased my vehicle. This has been going on since I purchased it 4years ago.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

I replace my altanator and always had a problem with the rpm gauge? it dose not move or sometimes stays at the 6/7 and as of recently the car looses power and almost crashed on the freeway also I bought this car in 2014.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

All of the passenger door locks have stopped working. The only way to get into the vehicle is to use the key fob to roll down the windows, so that a door can be manually unlocked. The interior electric door lock mechanisms do not work either.

25 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 10/14/2015

During normal operation of the vehicle and while in motion, the abs brake light indicator on the dash control panel illuminates when applying the brakes, which cause the brakes to shake and make scraping sound. At that point the brakes fail to stop the vehicle in a safe distance, increasing the chance of a collision. Abs brake light clears and normal brake functions return when the ignition is turned off, then back on.

26 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 03/30/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Infiniti Qx56 . The contact stated while driving 65 mph the vehicle experienced a loss of power without warning as a result of a fuel gauge malfunction. The approximate failure mileage for the vehicle was 148,000. Kh.

27 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 03/24/2015

Airbag light suddenly began flashing. I took truck to dealer and they said driver side airbag module shorted internally. Price to fix is $1,600. 00. This truck has never been in an accident or at any time had its airbags deployed. All service to truck has been with Infiniti dealerships. Service representative said electronic issue and not owner error. This could happen at any time with this truck. I called customer service and they said problem is covered if truck less than 4 years old or 60,000 miles. This is an electronic manufacturing defect and Infiniti should not charge for their electronic defect affecting safety. All airbags in vehicle are now disabled. Take responsibility Infiniti. Your coverage of functioning airbags should last the lifetime of your vehicles.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 03/15/2015

I have an 04 Qx56 as a daily driver. I was leaving walmart as I pulled out of the parking lot I pulled into the turn lane to allow a car to go by mashed my brake and it started jer king like something was trapped in my brakes. We pulled on down to a large parking lot got out notice the red brake light was on and under the hood something was clicking near the air intake thing. It did it the entire ride home as we were 30 mins from home we just drive slow. Got in it today for the 1st time was ok til about 45 mins into trip light came back on brakes started doing the same thing. I have rread many people complain of this issue. If it doesn't get recalled there will be a wreck in these vehicles! please make Nissan/Infiniti recalled this part! I have researched it and there was a lawsuit filed but it didn't make them admit there was an issue just made them pay for out of pocket expenses. I am a stay at home mom college student my husband just lost his job due to health reasons. I can't afford to pay for this issue!.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 08/05/2014

The vehicle died when at a stop light and rolled back hitting the car behind us. I looked on your website and apparently it was caused by a faulty engine control module (ecm) in the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm). This appears to have been recalled on all 2004 to 2006 Infiniti Qx56 vehicles, however, I received no such notice and Infiniti says their is not recall associated with my VIN number. I believe my VIN number was left out in error and this should be recalled. This vehicle has also lost power a number of times while driving, but those incidents didn't result in an accident (luckily). Thank you.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2010 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 01/29/2014

The contact owns a 2010 Infiniti Qx56. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and the check engine warning light was illuminated. Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Infiniti Qx56 . The contact stated while driving at 60 mph, the steering wheel seized and the all lights went off the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road. The failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that that sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturerer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number:: 10v074000 (fuel system, other). The failure mileage was 85,000. Pp.

32 Electrical System problem of the 2006 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 04/01/2013

The car emergency brake light came on, the vdc, and slip light flashes and the car loses brake power, felt like pads were gone but they were not. Once the car was turned off and back on lights went away and brakes came back. We have had brakes replaced, and problem continued. Also the service engine soon light came on and a mechanic told us we needed new cadalidic convertors and the service engine soon light is still on and off. Brake issue and light coming on has happened numerous times and it does not make a difference where or what speed. I have been driving down the interstate, in the neighborhood, parked, etc. It is happening more frequently and we have had it check out by multiple mechanics and their diagnostics are not picking up anything that is wrong. I have 3 small children and feel like I am going to have a panic attack every time we get into the car. Why is there no re-call yet?! if you are considering buying this car run and do not buy!.

33 Electrical System problem of the 2005 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 03/05/2013

While driving on the freeway I noticed that the tachometer continued rising instead of going up and down with the speed. By the time I got home the gauge was facing straight down, stuck in that position. I turned the car off and on to see if it would change the gauge, but nothing happened. Next I put the can in park, set the parking brake and hit the accelerator and the gauge began to slowly move backwards, after doing this a few times the gauge moved back around slowly. After doing this 5 times the gauge is just to the left of the red area. No problems with the battery, it is only 4months old. The transmission felt as though it was shifting propery, and there is not a check engine light on or any other problems besides the gauge.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2004 Infiniti QX56

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

On July 1, 2012 I was driving on highway 156 in winston-salem n. C. When my air condition, turn signal, speedometer stop working and check engine light can on. We were on vacation driving through north carolina from georgia. It was Sunday and we decided to stay overnight to have the Qx56 infinity checked out the next day for safety reasons. The next mourning on our way to the infinity dealership, the 4 wheel drive can on and locked up the transmission and stopped moving. We were on highway 156 downtown winston-salem on Monday mourning in rush hour traffic stopped. I manage to easy it off the road and called aaa to tow me to the dealership. I have taken this vehicle to other dealerships in jonesboro GA. And then in huntsville al before my trip because of the service light coming on. My family and I was very lucky we were not killed. I feel this vehicle got some very serious safety problems that must be check out before anything major happen that may hurt or kill someone. This 2004 Qx56 infinity have been recalled many times for repairs since I purchase it in 2004. Because of pass experiences with this vehicle, I feel there may be more serious defects in this vehicle.
