Infiniti QX60 owners have reported 122 problems related to power train (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Infiniti QX60 based on all problems reported for the QX60.
Malfunction of power train from 2018 Infiniti Qx60. On July 19th, I visited Infiniti of beachwood due to engine error light (error code p0776, cvt tranmission malfunction) of 2018 Infiniti Qx60 (VIN: 5n1dl0mn0jc533475, mileage 79600). Infiniti dealer service at beachwood asked me wait untill they receive transmission warranty approval from their regional headquarter. During last 3 weeks, I called more than 20 times but warranty service was still not approved, and on 7th August Infiniti service manager asked me to bring the car back regardless of driver's safety with mal-functioning transmission when I complained by phone. According to court quality action on March 29th 2022, cvt warranty of 2015-2018 Infiniti Qx60, effective from June 1st 2022, was extended to 96th months/94,000 miles from 72 months/70,000 miles, therefore Infiniti should approve and provide warranty service immediately without approval pending on this. However, Infiniti does not respect court decision of transmission warranty, nor does not provide warranty service properly timely either including irresponsible attitude of service employees as well. I want Infiniti USA to follow up the court decision of transmission warranty coverage of transmission to be applied immediately to replace it.

Driving west on i8 from az into san diego my vehicle would lose all ability to accelerate and start decelerating on the upward climbs of the crestwood summit highway pass through the cuyamaca mountains. Not only it would continue to lose complete driving power and we had to pull over many time to turn the car off and let it sit for 10 minutes. It was not over heated and no lights were on with any indication of failure. During decents and on plateaus it resumed its completely normal functioning. I immediately brought it in to oceanside CA Infiniti where they told me they don’t know what it wrong so they can’t fix it and I have to basically drive back to az through the mountains again and break down (it’s 115 degrees and almost 1. 5 hours in both directions to any town) to figure out what was wrong. It’s incredibly dangerous and clearly not safe.

There are multiple issues with the aforementioned vehicle and I have brought it to the dealership multiple times, but they stated that although Infiniti is aware of the issues they do not have a fix. When it rains out the locking mechanism fails on the vehicle and I am locked out of the vehicle. In addition to that, on multiple occasions, I place the car in park when I come to a stop and the vehicle does not stay in park. It goes back into drive. There is an overheating issue with the wireless charging pad. The charging pad is not charging the cell phone, but it is producing heat to the degree that it causes the iphone to overheat and shut down . The bluetooth system is a complete failure. During the middle of a drive when you are utilizing the navigation system the system completely shuts down. It is inoperable. This happens with apple carplay specifically and it renders the system completely useless. This is a serious safety issue.

We get the message "hybrid engine overheated" and after that loses power/acceleration causing vehicle to stall. This happened twice in last year. First time, we were at the canadian border idling the vehicle when it happened. We took the car to our dealer for inspection and they said it related to a recall and updated the software. Few months later, it happened again in stop and go traffic and this time the dealer is saying hybrid cvt assembly has to be replaced at the cost of ~$15,000 including tax.

Hello the cvt transmission in these 2014-2017 vehicles have been known to be defective. Apparently Infiniti settled a lawsuit that was suing them for this exact reason. They settled without admitting fault. Problem with that is all these vehicles are still on the road and customers are unaware. They say they informed us but I can assure you I never was informed. They also sent a service bulletin to their dealerships telling them to expect problems and to fix if brought in. The vehicles are dangerous without a doubt. They shake, shudder and lose acceleration with no warning. No lights come on the dash or anything. Someone will lose their life, if they haven’t already. The law firm had company emails showing they were going to do a recall. Corporate greed is my guess, got in the way. Now unsuspecting customers are driving ticking time bombs. Also owners are trying to sell these vehicles to unsuspecting customers. There is no way this should be acceptable in my opinion and am extremely disappointed with the lack of concern I’ve received from the company. We are paying for a so called “luxury” vehicle only to find out later that the transmission should of been recalled years ago. Here I sit with my 20k used vehicle blue book broken down car now. It’ll cost $9800 to fix. Just isn’t right and I hope I’m finding someone that will at minimum look into it. Please, do us all a favor before it’s to late. Thank you.

The vehicle shudders and the transmission shifts up and down and has a high squeal when driving. The transmission does this cold and at operating temperature.
Consistent cvt shudder while accelerating from a "stop" through 25-30 mph, and also sometimes while accelerating after moving and lasting through 40 plus mph. This transmission shudder necessitates releasing the accelerator pedal, slowing down, sometimes selecting a different driving mode (I. E. , sport, econ, etc,). This has caused difficulty joining the traffic stream, especially at highway "on ramps" and when we have to accelerate quickly to join traffic even during "in town" driving. This initially started last summer and was inconsistent (about 110,000 miles on the vehicle). The last week it has happened repeatedly. According to my research, it is a very common safety problem with this vehicle.
While driving, engine suddenly started shaking/juddering. Then within just few seconds, engine went into extreme high rpm along with strong smell of smoke coming out of vent and car stopped moving completely and engine turned off by itself. We could turn on ignition power and engine start, but turned off as soon as put on driving or reverse mode. Had to towed in to local Nissan dealership who ran diagnostic test which revealed cvt code p2857 and was told that transmission need to replaced. Noticed several consumer complaints over NHTSA website regarding damage to transmission requiring replacement in 2014 Infiniti Qx60 hybrid vehicles and no safety recalls/repairs offered by Infiniti/Nissan manufacture regarding such major and dangerous powertrain/transmission breakdown.
My car rolls back and forward, more than normal, after parking and putting the park into park and lifting foot off the break. It rolls back so fast that it knocked my mother forward and it knocked my daughter to the ground. So, when I put the car in park and I release the break is when it rolls back far enough to become a safety concern. The car also lurches forward when applying the gas pedal from a stoped position which is a safety hazard because it could potentially hit another car in front of me. Lastly, the car has a major hesitation from a slower speed into a higher speed which has been an hazard because if a car is coming up fast behind me I can’t pick up speed fast enough to avoid collision. It always happens getting off a ramp and driving onto a state road that has a speed limit of 70mph. The car is currently being serviced for the 3rd time since February but they told me that they can’t fix it because the Infiniti service department doesn’t have “codes” for the 2023 yet and that if it were a 2022 then they could fix it right away.
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an unknown warning light illuminated, and the vehicle shuddered. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who cleared the fault code and informed the contact about technical service bulletin: itb12-072d (vibration and/or noise when making low speed turns). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 94,000.
When a person leans on the door and at least 200lbs of pressure is applied to the driver's door, in drive, the door will open and all the locks in the car will release.

I was driving the Infiniti Qx60 and it started smoking and shuddering several times. I had to pull it over and have it towed. I've already had to replace the entire transmission and the transfer 4x4 case and both were brand new. This is nerve wracking and unfair. Something needs to be done. It's being diagnosed but this seems to be constant with this 2014 Infiniti Qx60 model. This car needs to be completed pulled and replaced for every dryer for everyone who has one.
The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Qx60. The contact stated that while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the engine revved and the rpm’s increased rapidly but the engine failed to engage, and the vehicle started to hesitate. The contact also stated that she noticed a burning odor throughout the vehicle. No warning lights was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact stated that the transmission assembly body was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated that there was a rattling noise coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle several times before the vehicle operated as needed. The contact stated that while continuing to drive the vehicle almost stalled twice more. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the cvt transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The manufacturer confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
Vehicle loss power consistent with transmission failure on several different occassions. Repairs were may, yet failure continues to persist. Power was loss on the highway heading home in which stall traffic behind my vehicle, bearly escaping rear end collision.
The car does not accelerate or accelerate with jerky motion. Occasionally, the vehicle disengaged out of drive mode and would not accelerate. There seems to be some transmission issues as the vehicles is making jerky movement upon acceleration. Almost cause accident on a turn as it could not move forward out of cross traffics!.
The contact owns a 2018 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph or at slower speeds, the all-wheel drive (awd) failed to function as designed, causing the passenger’s side rear tire to spin. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating while attempting to accelerate. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the rear-end electric coupling needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, the vehicle was not covered under recall or TSB. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.
There is a judder / vibration when accelerating from a complete stop or trying to speed up from a lower speed. This has been happening in the last 2-3 years. It comes and goes. But this time, the judder is more pronounced or stronger, and would not go away.
July 2022 our 2014 Infiniti Qx60 hybrid at 59,000 miles started making this winding/grinding noise. We took it in and was told the transmission needs to be replaced on a car that is only driven under 7500k miles per year and is in otherwise perfect shape. There is an extended warranty for the non-hybrid models due to a class action suit. This is extremely dangerous and a very costly repair to the tune of $7,500. Infiniti is refusing to repair at this point.
The transmission started kicking for no reason. Car will not stop jerking.
Seems like a transmission issue. The vehicle shudders often from a stop or when close to stopping. This was confirmed by an independent service center.
During acceleration between certain speeds particularly 40 mph to 60 mph and above the vehicle begins to shudder or vibrate. This is only when applying power and not when braking, steering, coasting or anything else that might be associated with the brakes, suspension, wheel bearings, rotors, tire/wheel balance, tire pressure, constant velocity joint, . Likely a cvt transmission issue. When applying power sometimes while starting out in traffic it feels like the vehicle is not working or not accelerating in tune with the amount of pressure applied to the throttle.
Vehicle stalling has gotten worst since manufacturers remedy was applied a few days ago.
I was moving down a small slope behind other vehicles at a speed of 40-50 mph. In order to slow down a bit, I decided to manually downshift gear, I pressed the left switch and expected that after changing gear the speed it would begin to decline. But instead of slowing down, I felt a push in my back and for a second the car began to accelerate and only then began to slow down. I had to urgently apply the brakes so as not to crash into the car in front. I tried again to shift down and each time before changing the gear the car accelerated, although I did not press the accelerator pedal. To test why this is happening, I connected an obd 2 device to record time, speed, absolute throttle position, accelerator pedal position and engine rpm. I have reproduced the situation on the track and it appears that the car's software actually increases throttle during manual downshifts. This is very dangerous and can lead to an accident, because the driver expects a decrease in speed, and instead of this, the car accelerates itself. I tried to contact the manufacturer, but they didn't even listen and sent it to the dealer. The dealer said that there was no new software and did not even check the dangerous behavior of the machine.

Multiple occasions more than I can count loss of power at acceleration then it kangaroos and takes off. No codes multiple trips to the dealer still no codes. The dealer has another vehicle doing the same thing. Seems to be much worse the hotter the weather. It has scared me several times because there has been solution found because no engine codes.
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine and hev warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle was shaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a leaking seal. The seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated a month later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed with misfires in the cylinder and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a three thousand dollar discount toward the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Infiniti Qx60. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a knocking sound coming from the vehicle while accelerating and the vehicle shuddered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with code p17f1 for continuously variable transmission (cvt) failure. The dealer informed the contact that the cvt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.
Shuttering/jerking of car during attempted acceleration after pulling out into street. Car would not accelerate properly. Could have caused rear end collision.
I purchased my 2018 Qx60 in 2021 at competition Infiniti as a certified pre-own vehicle. I soon began to hear a rattling noise and the steering wheel would vibrate a little. I brought the vehicle back to the dealer several times with this complain and they keep telling me that their is nothing that the can do for me because that’s the way the vehicle is built. The noise as I was told is common in Qx60 models and that I’m not the only person that has complained about it. I told him that I don’t expect for a $30,000+ luxury vehicle to sound that. They also explained to me that it was something that was built in the vehicle to help with fuel efficiency. I think he called it a droner or something like that. I love the look my vehicle but I hate driving my vehicle because of this noise. I filed a complaint with Infiniti consumer service as well, who instruct me to have the fail inspected by another Infiniti dealer to make sure the dealer is not refusing to fix the problem. I am disgusted that a vehicle that I purchased at an Infiniti dealer is sounding like this. If you can provide any help in this matter, it would be greatly appreciated.
Cvt have been told by one Infiniti dealership the the fluids never need to be flushed, changed or filled. Then I hear about the transfer differential which I am assuming is the transfer case is leaking and that it would need to be replaced entirely along with the rear coupling costing nearly $10k in repair (estimated $8,500 alone on these two items). I have found online people and even other Infiniti dealerships where these fluids are flushed and refilled regularly of which in discussing with the dealership these findings, they advised they never have to be flushed, but it is recommended through forums and other dealerships of such. In finding more about the history of my car, I have found that it has never had a flush of the transfer differential or cvt or other factors of changing fluids. I advised I recently had a burning smell along with grinding. They only say I need to completely change that out. If I have a leak, then that should have been the first directive in fixing the seal (since this is a sealed compartment). I have 3 times where the power wasn't going to the transmission where I almost got into accidents. Thankfully, the other driver's were able to merge or brake as these were primarily city streets. I found a video where a gentleman had the same issue, the cvt was replaced, and the issue only got worse. How is this allowed or possible?.
The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Qx60 hybrid. The contact stated that he received a recall notification for NHTSA campaign number: 21v774000 (engine and engine cooling, hybrid propulsion system); however, the dealer informed the contact that the parts for the recall repair were not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall inadvertently while driving at various speeds. The contact was unsure whether there were warning lights illuminated and declined to provide additional information. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to rent a vehicle out of pocket. A case was opened. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Transfer case failed. Car does not accelerate properly. Loses acceleration with speed. Confirmed by dealership but have not been reproduced. Transmission was previously. No warnings of the problem. Vehicle was driving fine. No fluid leaks or concerns. Just wheezing noise that was thought to be rotors or brakes. Upon taking it to the dealership because replacement warranty was still effective was informed that transfer case failed at 46000 miles. No warning signs of issue occurring, but wheezing from vehicle.
Turned out it's a bad transmission issue. Nissan/Infiniti will not cover this under warranty, although, it's a known customer experience and concern. I have had to spend too much time/money to take care of this. . . Wish we had never bought this vehicle as it's now become a huge safety-related issue. The vehicle cannot move when you press the gas, it shudders, slips due to the transmission. You just don't have as much control as you would with a typical passenger vehicle fwd or awd.
A few weeks ago our car was driving with a clunking noise, we took it to the shop and the transfer case was found to have metal shavings in the fluid. Our car only has approximately 81,000 miles on it. Our car was at the Infiniti dealership and they diagnosed the transfer case is going bad as well as the transmission. The car’s transmission has a known history of failure to this make and model and therefore it was still under warranty. This was the fourth time the transmission has been replaced! the technician told me about the transfer case, that it was not abnormal for it to go bad on this make and model of car as well. Please look into others with this car and it has there been similar reports, the repair was near $6000. I just paid and brought the car home today.
I have Infiniti Qx60 2014. I was driving with my family from a road trip. The vehicle started to jerk and violently shake when driving about 50 miles per hour. The vehicle almost stopped in the middle of the road. I pulled off and had to driver very slowly with hazard lights on for 40 minutes home. This is a major safety concern for this vehicle.
