The contact mentioned that it was very difficult to shift out of reverse and the vehicle would not turn off. The vehicle failed to stop and struck a curb. A police report was not filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and depressing the brakes, she shifted into reverse and there was a sudden acceleration, causing the contact to crash into a pole. The failure occurred without warning. The contact suffered injuries to the right shoulder blade, which extended to her finger tips. The wheel and rear passenger's side panel were extensively damaged. Unintended and out of control acceleration I had stopped the car waiting for a parking place at the clinic. I backed up a few feet to allow a car to back out of the space I wanted. I started to move slowly into the head in parking space with my left foot still on the brake when the car accelerated rapidly with a roar. With both feet on the brake I was finally able to stop the car but not before it jumped the curb at the end of the parking space and hit the concrete base of a lamp post, damaging the front bumper. Jaguar NJ was notified but again offered no help or advice about the unintentional acceleration.

Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration when the brake pedal was applied. Taken to the dealer 4 times, but the cause was undetermined. Dealer blames the consumer for the failure.
