1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2019

In the just over 3 years that I have owned this car I have had 2 incidents where the car accelerates and engine races when braking at a low speed making a turn on a side street. I try to bring the to a stop but it is very difficult to do as the brakes are not fully stopping the car and both times I had to put the car in park quickly in other to completely stop it which brought it to a jerking halt. There is some defect in this model as I have seen numerous similar stories on a Jaguar problems website. This is a very serious problem and I was lucky both times to be on side streets as a serious accident was avoided as I it took me a few seconds to bring the car to a stop as I did not have full control of car. I took the car to my local Jaguar in glen cove NY in July and they could not replicate the incident and had no idea what the problem was. Like I said at the beginning this only happened twice in 3 years but I only drive 1000 to 2000 miles a year and to tell you the truth I am afraid to drive the car too much as I might hit another car or a person if it happens again. The 2004 Jaguar x types should be recalled as others have had this same problem with no solutions.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2015

My Jaguar X-type 2004 car when traveling at about 25-30 mph alternately gets sluggish and slows or revs up, causing me to apply brakes hard to prevent collisions. I have to allow enormous space between me and the vehicle ahead because I am afraid of colliding with vehicles in front. Also have to brake hard to to overcome the surging forth of the engine. The car will also rev up when I am parking it. These are such common occurrences, and it seems to be a manufacturing malfunction. Jaguar should recall all 2004 X-types to fix these dangerous and potentially life threatening machines. I request that the NHTSA immediately follow up and require recall of these road hazards. Thank you.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2006

I was pulling into a parking space in front of a drug store. While maneuvering the car between the lines, my foot was already partially on the brake. Then the car accelerated more and the brakes went to the floor. Thus the car surged over the curb and into the wall. There was no control to this car at all. Estimated damage to the car is $6800. 00 an insurance claims person will be checking out the brakes and also reason for car acceleration. Car may have to be towed to the dealer for further investigation once the body repairs are made.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2006

When I press on the brake to stop, the car accelerates. The harder I press on the brake the more the car wants to accelerate. I have had at least six incidences of this situation in the course of approximations four months. When I brought the car into Jaguar service the first time they returned the car to me saying that "there is nothing wrong with the car". When I brought the car to them the second time, I was very specific about how the problem developed. After four days in the shop they were able to determine that the accelerator bracket extends beyond the area of the accelerator to the left and therefore can at times interfere with the brake pedal. Jaguar claims that they have never heard of this problem before, although I was able to find at least one other person, on an internet website, "mycarstats. Com", who is experiencing the same problem. I informed Jaguar that I am holding them responsible for any damages caused by this defect. They have now know about the cause of the problem since at least since February 22, 2006. The head lights were aimed too high. Updated 03/22/06.
