Accelerator Pedal Sensor problems of the 2004 Jaguar XJ8

While driving on 95 south in ri at approx. 60mph, my 2004 Jaguar Xj8 suddenly lost all power, including engine, steering and braking abilities. It nearly resulted in a multi car fatal accident from being hit from behind. The dealer stated, after a systems check, that an accelerator pedal sensor had failed resulting in a $500. 00 replacement cost. This is a very dangerous defect that should have been part of a safety recall.
