Brake Disc problems of the 1996 Jeep Cherokee

Five problems related to brake disc have been reported for the 1996 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2000

When it rains or snows an d when onsume r applies brakes front wheels slide back and forth. Abs braking system light doesn't function at all. Also, there is squeaking/ pulsating noise underneath vehicle. . Dealership is aware of problem.

2 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 12/15/1999

Failed brakes - front and rear rotors, calipers and pads replaced. When braking on uneven or wet pavement, front brakes vibrate and vehicle skids before stopping.

3 Brake Disc problem

Failure Date: 09/10/1996

While driving on highway would step on brakes and could feel a jump on the steering wheel, which gave a clue about bad rotors that had to be replaced every year since purchasing of vehicle. The dealer claims the problem is caused by driving with foot on the brake and heating up the rotors causing them to warp.

4 Brake Disc problem

While applying brakes consumer noticed grinding noise . Dealer has been notifed. Please provide further informaton.

5 Brake Disc problem

While driving at highway speeds or when slowing down and applying brakes extreme vibration occurs in front end of vehicle . Please give any further details.
