Brake Foundation Components problems of the 1997 Jeep Cherokee

Five problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1997 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2000

After vehicle is parked in rainy weather, the brakes are extremely "grabby". During a moderate effort stop, the brakes locked and vehicle went into a skid (locked tires). This has been a problem since new. Had dealer look at this problem while under warranty and they found nothing wrong. Brakes become less grabby if brakes are applied momentarily while driving (throttle and brake applied at same time) for 5 to 10 seconds. This leads me to believe that there is a corrosion build up that is worn away after brakes are applied several times. A panic stop under grabby conditions would almost certainly result in an accident!.

2 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 03/20/1999

None.

3 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 05/01/1998

While driving in wet conditions the consumer lost braking power, causing vehicle to hit another vehicle. Air bag did not deploy. Please provide further details.

4 Brake Foundation Components problem

Failure Date: 06/01/1997

Brakes needed replacement. Yh.

5 Brake Foundation Components problem

When driving at high speed and applying brakes, there is alot of vibration within the vehicle. On last inspection all four rotors were warped and the rear brake pads fell apart upon removal.
