Ten problems related to air bag light on have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Air bag light is on, we find a recall that is open and active. Bright vehicle to yaklin for repair and they declined the repair because the part has been discontinued.
The contact owns a 1998 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at any speed, the air bag indicator remained illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 198,000.
1998 Jeep Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to blinking airbag light the consumer was informed the clockspring needed to be replaced.
Instrument panel does not work properly like the speedometer. Also, gasoline/oil pressure gauge are not working, and air bag light is on. Dealer notified.
00v105000/air bag control module: after recall repairs were done air bag sensor light remained on. Vehicle taken back to dealer, and informed consumer that part installed had nothing to do with the sensor light. Before the repairs were made, air bag light was not coming on. Asking NHTSA to help in this matter.
All gauges stop working and airbag light comes on, dealer claims it's a dust issue with connectors.
While traveling air bag indicator light would flash on intermittently without indication. Dealer can't duplicate the problem . Please provide further information.
Since 1/99, we have encountered numerous times. . . The airbag light comes on, the spedometer/tachometer read "o". . . Sometimes includes all gauges (gas, oil pressure, etc). Also, had window motor and radio front replaced. . . Related????.
Due to air bag light keep coming on, consumer can't read any of the components on the dashboard.
Consumer had recall 00v10500 performed on 6-15-00 for airbag control module. There was no problem with airbag before the recall was performed. On sept. 6 2000, consumer noticed airbag light came on intermittently, contacted dealer, and was told only available appointment was for sept 19,2000. On sept 18,2000, consumer was driving when suddenly vehicle experienced a loss of rpm's/speedometer, and airbag light stayed on.
