Three problems related to axle shaft seal have been reported for the 1998 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
There was a hummimg noise comimg from left front. Dealership took front end apart, and then heard noise it in the rear. Rear seal was damaged because of water inside of vehicle. Dealership told consumer that warranty didn't cover vehicle.
Front axle leaking oil. Dealer is unable to repair the problem. Vehicle been in several dealer shops, and was infomed that they can work on it, but the condition will reoccur.
