Engine Cooling System problems of the 1999 Jeep Cherokee

Four problems related to engine cooling system have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2008

Air conditioner failure. Had to replace compressor, evaporator, several lines and drive belt. Also replaced radiator and other cooling system components. Total cost $2000.

2 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2007

Have replaced the evaporator, condenser, compressor, dryer, belts, etc. Have spent close to $3k and still have no air conditioning.

3 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2006

While driving on a highway the posted speed limit, my vehicle started shaking uncontrolably and I had to get off the highway to stop the car so the shaking will stop. I have had a number parts replaced such as the steering stabilizer, and the steering rod.

4 Engine Cooling System problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2004

Casting sand (from the factory) in the cooling system caused the engine to overheat. Engine replacement was necessary at 52,000 miles since the casting sand was throughout the entire engine. A TSB had been issued on the subject.
