Four problems related to tire blowout have been reported for the 1999 Jeep Cherokee. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Traveling east on hwy 76 just outside julesburg, CO, my right rear tire sidewall blew out at 75mph. Tire pressures were at 35 psi on all tires before trip a few days earlier. Tires have about 20,000 miles on them and have about 45% remaining tread. Blowout pattern was a near perfect circle where the sidewall meets the tread area of the tire. Damage to vehicle consisted of bent rear quarter panel.
Right front tire suddenly and instantaneously lost all air pressure while driving interstate 95 north in MD approaching DE border. I quickly lost steering and braking control, and was nearly struck by a tractor trailor at full speed. Luck alone got my wife and I to the side of the road without being involved in an accident. I have made initial contacts with the car dealership, and with a goodyear tire and rubber service center (reisterstown, MD). Both the dealership and the goodyear service center displayed reluctance to replace my tire at no charge. I don't believe I can get an honest evaluation of my blown tire, as they are both financially biased. (tiresize: p225/75r15)( dot number: tire size: p225/75r15 ).
The rear tire blewout without warning (goodyear wrangler rt/s p225/75r15-102s),small nail found in the tire, however no deflation occured prior to blowout. Nlm.
At slow rate of speed, rear tire blew out. No sign of nail, etc. As cause. Didn't damage tread part of tire, but blew the side of the tire out, leaving only threads remaining. This happened on both rear tires (12,000 miles) within a 2-week period. ( dot number: tire size: p22575r15 ).
